For the past decade, the Nintendo Company has been releasing the ever famous franchise of games, entitled "Pokemon". Since then, over 20 games have been released, making billions of dollars in revenue. The latest of which is the next generation of Pokemon games, entitled Pokemon Daimond and Pearl. Today, we'll be looking at the version I have: Pokemon Diamond.
Featuring the best graphics of any hand-held Pokemon game, Pokemon Diamond is magnificent compared to its forefathers. There is a downside though: the battle screens are almost exactly the same as they were on the GBA. But, wandering through caves and towns is in sprited 3D, which adds a new element to the game. So, because of the poor battle graphics, but the great adventure graphics, I'm giving the graphics of Pokemon Diamond an 8 out of 10.
The sound is mostly the run-of-the-mill Pokemon music, except with a catch: now in stereo. Since the game is on the DS, it utilizes the DS's stereo sound, making much better quality music. Some actually sounds like real music, and not just some computer-generated techno. Because of this, this game gets a 9 out of 10 on sound.
The gameplay for Pokemon Diamond is fantastic. In my opinion, it is the funnest, yet hardest, Pokemon game in the franchise's history. Tunnels and caves await you, along with quests like never seen before. There is also an array of new moves and many new Pokemon, leaving nothing much else to be desired. There are also some very challenging puzzles, and opponent trainers AI levels have increased dramatically. That is why gameplay gets a 10 out of 10.
Like most Pokemon games, even if you start over, you can never have the same exact adventure every time. After completing the game by defeating the Elite Four Challenge, the player gets to join in the hunt for several new Pokemon, making post-Elite Four just as fun as the beginning of the game. This is definitely a game you can play over and over, but the bad thing is, the story never changes. That is why I'm giving Lastability an 8 out of 10.
Overall, this game is very good, and the best in the handheld part of the franchise. I would highly recommend getting this game, even if you aren't the biggest Poke-freak out there. There are some areas that could do with improvement, but overall, this game deserves a just 9 out of 10, because it's just so darn great. Hope you guys are able to get your mits on this game, for this is a definite must-have. But for now, happy gaming, and thanks for reading my review!
