First, gain the ability to purchace property in the hold. You need to make sure you have enough gold to "buy" the house/land. You also will need the "Slow Time" shout. Save your game just in case. Talk to the steward about purchacing the house. Be sure the steward is near something to put items in (wardrobe, chest, dresser, etc.). After confirmation of purchace, exit the conversation, use "Slow Time," and store your gold in the nearby container. The steward will give you the key to your new home, and you can grab your gold again. *Note: The guards will end up getting mad at you if you shout to often.*
