When you win ALL 5 standard Grand Prix cups the mirrored versions will become available.
Unlock Expert Difficulty
This tough difficulty setting will become available when you win ALL 5 Grand Prix Mirrored Cups.
Boost at Start Line
Tap the right trigger (accelerate) each time the screen fades inbetween 'Get Ready...3...2...1' to get a level 3 boost at the start of the race.
Unlock Grand Prix Mode Characters
The following characters become available in Grand Prix mode when you complete the corresponding task.
Avatar:
Win the first 5 Grand Prix Cups.
Dr. Eggman:
Win the 5 Mirror Grand Prix Cups.
Unlock Alex Kidd
If you set the date of your console to the 25th of December Alex Kidd will become available as a playable option when you start up the game.

Nope, completing world tour and grand priz only unlocks eggman. As far as I can tell the only way to get shadow and knuckles is to buy them |

Yes. Alex Kidd gets the Genesis/Mega Drive mod along with Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Metal Sonic (DLC) and Dr. Eggman. |
| How do you resurrect yourself in Battle Race mode? |
You can't, only in the battle arena. In the arena you have to drive into someone who's alive three times. |
