This third installment of the Metal Gear Solid game series takes place before 
the first Metal Gear for NES and MSX and it puts you in the control of a
different Snake but this Snake holds a surprise at the end.

From the manual:

In the aftermath of the Second World War, the world was torn into two between
East and West. It was the beginning of a new era - the Cold War.

October 16, 1962. The President of the United States received word that the 
Soviet Union had deployed nuclear missiles in Cuba. The world trembled in fear
as the prospect of nuclear war loomed even closer. After days of tense
negotiations, the Soviets finally agreed on the 28th to withdraw their missiles
from Cuban soil. With the resolution of this incident, later to be known as
the Cuban Missile Crisis, it seemed that humanity survived yet another threat
to its existence.

However, there was a secret condition in the deal that put an end to the 
crisis. Nikolai Stepanovich Sokolov, a Soviet scientist who had defected to the
West, was to be sent back to the Soviet Union. The U.S. government agreed to
this stipulation, and returned Sokolov to his native land. Little did they know
that Sokolov was to be the designer of a nightmarish weapon. Now, with Sokolov
back in their hands, the Soviets are ready to resume its development. If this
weapon is completed, it will mark the beginning of a new age of fear.

August 1964. Realizing at last the urgency of the situation, the CIA forms a
plan to recapture Sokolov's research facility, located to the south of the 
great Soviet fortress of Groznyj Grad. Led by former SAS member Major Zero, FOX
is a next-generation special-forces unit that operates both as a specialized
combat group and as a covert intelligence outfit. The FOX unit's modus operandi
is to send a single agent, backed by radio support from afar, into enemy
territoty to carry out solo sneaking missions.

August 24. A lone soldier swoops down from out of the blue. The man's code is
Naked Snake.

Survinal Knife (KNIFE): A knife can be used with CQC. Press the Square button 
lightly to swing the knife, press harder to thrust.

Easygun (EZGUN): A tranquilizer gun for novices Can be used with CQC. Equipped
with surppressor functions and laser pointer sight Press the L1 button to zoom
in/out. On �VERY EASY� difficulty only, just having it prevents the Camo Index
from dropping sharply and speeds stamina recovery.

Mk22 (Mk22) -- Suppressed Mk22 (Mk22/SP): A handgan. Fires tranquilizer rounds.
Can he used with CQC. Can be equipped with a suppressor. A one-shot reload 
tranquilizer gun.

M1911A1 (M1911A1) -- Suppressed M1911A1 (M1911A1/SP): A 45 caliber handgun. Can
be used with CQC. Can be equipped with a suppressor.

Single Action Army (SAA): A revolver. Takes some time to reload. Bullets 
richochet when fired.

Fork (FORK): Used the same way as a knife. Can be used with CQC. Press the 
Square button lightly to swing the fork press has harder to thrust

Cigarette Shaped Narcosis Gun (CIG SPRAY): A sleep gas spray disguised as a
cigar. Can be used with CQC. Press once for single spray. Must be reloaded 
after five sprays.

Knockout Handkerchief (HANDKER): A handkerchief soaked in anesthetic. Can he 
used with CQC. Press the square button to wave the handkerchief and spread the
anesthetic around. Can be used to knock sock out enemies captured with CQC. The
number of remaining uses goes down each time the square button is pressed or
the handkerchief is used in CQC.

Scorpion (SCORPION): A small hip-fired submachine gun. Equipped with 
laser-pointer sight. Can be set for semi-auto or full-auto fire.

XM16E1 (XM16E1) -- Suppressed XM16E1 (XM16E1/SP) A rifle with auto-fire
capability. Can be equipped with a suppressor. Can be set for semi-auto,
3 shot burst or full-auto fire.

AK-47 (AK-47): An assault rifle. Press L1 button to aim from the shoulder. 
Can be set for semi-auto or full-auto fire.

M63 (M63): A light machine gun. A hip-fired machine gun.

M37 (M37): A shotgun. Very powerful when used at close range.

SVD (SVD): a sniper rifle. Also known as the Dragunov. Aatomutically switches
to First Person View when equipped. Effective in long-ranged attacks. Press L1
button to look through the scope. Scope magnification can be set to 3X or 10X.

Mosin Nagant (MOSIN N) A sniper rifle that fires tranquilizer rounds. 
Automatically switches to First Person View when equipped. Press the L1 button
to look through the scope. Scope magnification can be set to 3X or 10X.

RPG-7 (RPG-7): A rocket launcher. Automatically switches to First Person View
when equipped. Press the L1 button to look through the scope. Extreme 
firepower, but takes a while to reload.

Grenade (GRENADE): A Russian made anti-personnel fragmentation hand grenade.
Press the Square button to ready the grenade and release to throw it. The
distance thrown depends on how hard the square button is pressed. The grenade
detonates about 3 seconds after it is thrown.

White Phosphorus Grenade (WP G): An incendiary grenade. Upon detonation, bursts
into flames and burns enemies in the surrounding area. Fires caused on the
ground will continue to burn for a set period of time. Press the Square button 
to ready the grenade and release to throw it. The distance thrown depends on 
how hard the square button is pressed. The grenade detonates about 3 seconds 
after it is thrown.

Stun Grenade (STUN G): A special flash-bang type grenade. Upon detonation,
enemies in the immediate vicinity are knocked unconscious, while enemies 
further away are momentarily stunned. The length of the flash depends on
the direction that Snake is facing and the distance thrown. Press the Square 
button to ready the grenade and release to throw it. The distance thrown 
depends on how hard the square button is pressed. The grenade detonates about
3 seconds after it is thrown.

Chaff Grenade (CHAFF G): An electronic disruption grenade. Disables electronic
devices such as enemy radios, motion detectors, and active sonar for a set
period of time. Press the Square button to ready the grenade and release to 
throw it. The distance thrown depends on how hard the square button is pressed.

Smoke Grenade (SMOKE G): A smoke-producing grenade. Creates a puff of smoke
that blocks the enemies vision and renders them unable to fight. If Snake is
caught in the smoke screen, he will cough violently for a while. Press the 
Square button to ready the grenade and release to throw it. The distance 
thrown depends on how hard the square button is pressed.

TNT (TNT): A switch-operated bomb. After planting a bomb using the Square
button, press the Circle button to detonate it. Bombs can only be detonated
when TNT is equipped.

Claymore (CLAYMORE):A directional mine. Press the Square button to plant.
Detonates when an enemy soldier or Snake enters the trigger zone. Claymores
can be picked up by crawling over them.

Torch (TORCH): Used for a virety of purposes - to light up an area, to attack,
to start fires, or to fend off enemies. Press the Square button to light/
extenguish the torch. It can also be used as a club. When lit, press the
Circle button repeatedly to shoo away bats and other pests. Press the Circle
button to swing the torch like a club. Touch and hold the lit end against the
enemy to set the enemy on fire.

Magazine (MAGAZINE): An empty ammo magazine. Press the Square button to ready,
and release to throw it. The distance thrown depends on how hard the square 
button is pressed. Can be used to make noise to divert the enemy's attention.

Book (BOOK): A book filled with sexy photos. Press the Square button to place
it on the ground. Distracts enemies who come upon it.

Mousetrap (MOUSETRAP): A stationary trap for catching live prey. Press the
Square button to set. traps can be picked up by crawling over them. Trapped
animals are turned into food items; the cheese serving as bait is used up.

Directional Microphone (MIC): A microphone uned to listen in one direction.
Automatically enters First Person View when equipped. Can pick up sounds
coming from far awy enemies and animals, even through walls.

Mine Detector (MINE D): Detects Claymore mines. Makes a warning sound when
a Claymore is nearby. Uses up battery power while equipped.

Key (KEY): A key to open a locked door. There are several different varieties.

Fake Death Pill (F.DEATH.P): A drug that produces a temporary state of fake 
death. Open the Item Window and press the Circle button to use.

Revival Pill (REVIVAL.P):

Pentazemin (PENTAZEMIN):

Life Medicine (LF MED): A medicine that restores life. Open the Item Window and
press the Circle button to use.

Bug Juice (BUG JUICE):A press-and-spray insect repellent. Open the Item Window 
and press the Circle button to spray it on Snake's body. Each use consumes one
unit of spray.

Whenever you get hurt in battle and your lifebar displays red, or you get
poisoned or have a cold or stomachace, etc. Go to the cure menu to use the
options below. The profile of Snake displays where the ailment is.

L2: Medical treatment

Serum (SERUM): Injected. Used to neutralize poison from snakes, scorpions, and
spiders.

Antidote (ANTIDOTE): Taken orally. Used to neutralize ingested poison.

Cold Medicine (C MED): Taken orally. Used to cure colds.

Stomach Medicine (S MED): Taken orally. Used to cure stomach aches.

R2: Surgical treatment

Splint (SPLINT): Applied locally. A fastener used to treat broken bones.

Suture Kit (SUTURE KIT): Applied locally. Used to sew up cuts.

Bandage (BANDAGE): Applied locally. Used to treat cuts, burns, gunshot wounds,
and broken bones.

Survival Knife (KNIFE): Used to treat gunshot and bolt wounds. The knife is 
used to dig out the bullet/bolt. Can be used an unlimited number of times.

Cigar (CIGAR): Used to burn leeches off. Can be used an unlimited number of
times.

Ointment (OINTMENT): Liniment. used to treat burns.

Disinfectant (DISINFECT): Liniment. Used to treat cuts and gunshot wounds.

Styptic (STYPTIC): Applied locally. Stops bleeding. Used to treat cuts and
gunshot wounds

Note: certain animals yield medical items when captured.

Virtuous Mission
===============================================================================
**Cutscene**
Snake Flies over Pakistan, the Colonel and Paramedic watch the plane. Snake is
told to put out the cigar and put on his mask twice. After doing so, the hatch
opens and Snake moves to the rear of the plane and does the world's first halo
jump. 

**flashback**
Snake is briefed on the Virtuous mission which is to infiltrate a factory and
rescue Sokolov, a world famous rocket scientist who helped set up the first
manned flight to outer space.
**end flashback**

Snake pulls his cord and lands roughly in the woods and losses his backpack.
Snake removes his parachute gear and makes contact with the base. The adventure
begins.

**end cutscene**

Snake's codename is Naked Snake and gets his refferal as Snake. The major says
his codename is Tom. Tom gives Snake directions on how to climb trees.

Go north and crawl under the log and climb the tree ahead of you.

+Call+
Tom gives Snakes directions on using his resources and tells him it's a stealth
mission. Snake is also give a fake death pill and revival pill, then Snake is
introduced to his team.

-Paramedic-
She monitors Snake's health throughout the mission and gives him advice on
medical issues

-Boss-
Snake's mentor. They have a reunion conversation about why Boss left Snake
and she tells him about being a soldier then Tom explains the origin of Snake's
codename. Your mission is to retrieve Sokolov in the abandoned factory in the
north.

Make your way to the north two screens, on the second screen, move across the
swamp carefully and use the tranquilizer on the alligator and kill it for food
to use later. In the 3rd screen, Snake observes two KGB soldiers through his
binoculars.

Boss explains the use of camoflauge. The key is to make yourself one with 
nature.

Put the 3 KGBs to sleep and make your way north again. Take out more KGBs in
sight and when you reach the bridge, be careful because the bridge is unsteady.
If you walk instead of run then you are safe. In Rassvat....

+call+
Snake calls the Major and peeps through his binoculars at the security.
Sokolov is said to be inside the room in the northeast section, Tom tells Snake
to tell Sokolov "Sorry for being late."
+end call+

Sneak into the factory and take out any guards outside the facility and pick up
the M37 in the lower right of the entrance. The squares uniform camoflauge 
helps here. If you alert the guards, kill or knock them out and shake them down
for grenades, chaff grenades, and stun grenades. To shake down a guard, disarm
then press Square over his head while they are dead, sleep, or unconscious.

Afterwards, head in the uppe right room to a door where Sokolov is held and you
see him burning papers. After a conversation where he explains Volgin's true
intentions to seize control from Krushchev, Snake calls the Majpr and they lost
contact with the Boss. You have an encounter with young Ocelot. Sokolov runs
off and after a convo with Ocelot, Snake kicks his ass and calls Tom and you 
go after Sokolov. Shake down Ocelot for a mouse trap. It seems tempting but if
you kill Ocelot while he is down. The game is over and create a time paradox
and a message about changing the future. As you know, Ocelot is supposed to be
alive for MGS 1 and 2. Make your way South to the bridge whre Sokolov waits
nearby.

**Cutscene**
Snake confronts The Boss on the Bridge and she asks for Sokolov, hornets appear
as Sokolov is taken away by The Fear and The Pain, and The End. The Sorrow
appears behind The Boss who looks back. Volgin appears and The Boss defects to
the Soviets. The Boss knocks Snake to the ground with Snake as the loser and
having a broken arm. Volgin gets ready to kill Snake but The Boss stops him,
then beats up Snake some more and throws him off the bridge. Snake is out cold
but wakes up and answers the call.

Snake is hurt. Paramedic gives you information on using the cure feature and
tells you what your current injuries are and how to heal them. Adfter patching
his wounds, Snake stays where his is for recovery to get him.

Helicopters take away the Shagohod and Volgin fires a U.S. nuclear missile and
destroys Sokolov's facility. You are treated to another intro video with the
theme song playing.

So ends the Virtuous Missions. Tune in next time for the Snake Eater part.

Operation Snake Eater
===============================================================================

A week later, Snake drops down in a drone since airspace security increased.
As the drone drops, you are greeted to a flashback of a briefing for the 
mission with Snake in the hospital. The major tells Snake that Fox plans to
clear its name. He speaks of the conversation between LBJ and Krushchev and the
threat of Armaggedon if USA doesn't prove its innocence. LBJ gives his
condolensces and tells who is responsible. After more jibba jabba, you get info
that there are two moles, ADAM and EVA working with Snake. A plane gives chase
but Snake shakes it. Snake crash lands and calls the Colonel. Your objectives
are to rescue Sokolov, destroy the Shagohod, and eliminate The Boss. Major
changes his name to Zero. You are also introduced to a new team member, Mr.
Sigint. You are told to go to the same warehouse where you rescued Sokolov
last time. Head north and get as much food as you can. Black face and Tiger
Stripe uniform are recommended here. On the next screen, go west and drop down
the cliff. You'll hear a horse.

The Boss appears and destroys his gun then uses her Patriot gun to destroy the
drone. Press R1 to spot The Sorrow behind her. The Boss questions Snake's
feelings and loyalty and tells him to chose. The Boss leaves but not before
her horse smashes Snake's hand. Snake calls Zero and tells him about The Boss's
ambush. Snake doesn't know if he can beat her. But Zero says she is the enemy
and must be dealt with.

Carefully take out three guards as you go north, frisk them twice for two sets
of grenades. Go north into Dolinovodno. Take out the guard near the bridge and
carefully walk across. Get all the mushrooms you can and head north into
Rassvet. Go into the warehouse and pick up the mine detector in the 
southeastern area of the warehouse, walk into the room above then walk out.

A motorcyclist arrives and after a small conversation, takes out the enemy
guards and then takes off her helmet. Press R1 to view her boobs. She 
introduces herself as EVA. Volgin decided to send EVA instead of ADAM. Snake
compliments EVA on her shooting style. She gives him a .45 and he is impressed
by it. He also receives a disguise to look like a scientist. EVA describes how
to get to the lab. EVA suggest Snake gets some rest while she stands watch.
Paramedic tells Snake to do so. Save the game from here. During his nap, EVA
is ona communicator. Snake begins to awaken. Press R1 to watch EVA undressed.
Four soldiers show up and EVA opens the hatch and spots Ocelot. EVA kisses
Snake before leaving.

Go into the hatch and use a tranquilizer gun on most of the soldiers while
crawling in the basement. Take out all seven soldiers including one on the
roof.

Ocelot has EVA and hold Snake at gunpoint. Snake tells Ocelot that he doesn't
have what it takes to kill him. EVA beats up Ocelot and does a motorcyle
uppercut somersault on him. Ocelot does his "It's showtime" gesture before
leaving. EVA leaves on her motorcycle too. Well that part is over.

Pick up the bug juice and head north into Chyrnyj Prad. In Chyornyj Prad, move
slowly in the water and watch for crocodiles and get the ammo in the north.
Snake gets a call from  EVA who gives her reason for defection. After the
convo, watch out for the trap ahead and proceed north to Bolshaya Past South.

The wires here are shocking. Crawl under the open space and watch out for
nearby claymore mines. Crawl to be safe and you gain Claymores in the process. 
Go west and climb up a tree and use it to jump over the electrical fence. Head
north and take out the guards and dogs and go west to the opening and crawl
through it and continue north then east. It's optional to take out the plane.
Head north from here to the crevive but check the warehouse for supplies first.

You have a confrontation with Ocelot as he calls his troops. He demands his
troops to stay out of the way and make it a one on one fight as he does his
gun dance which iscool. Get ready for a duel with Ocelot.

Boss Fight: Ocelot

In general, it's best to deplete the boss's stamina instead of their life. Your
reward for doing so will be a special camoflauge. 

Use the trees and rocks for cover as you fire at Ocelot. Careful not to fall
down the ravine. Use your tranquilizer weapons to take away all his stamina.
Ocelot has twelve shots. Once he uses them all, he hides then reloads his gun.
When he is low on life or stamina, he'll shoot richochet bullets. There is a
poisonous snake where you are, careful not to get bitten. For a good way to
fight Ocelot, shoot the hornet's nest to send hornets at him. He'll be too
distracted by the hornets to fight and leaves him open. Taking his stamina nets
you the Animal Uniform.

Hornets attack everyone. Ocelot does his gun dance to kill off some hornets but
his comrades aren't that lucky. Snake dives into the ravine to escape the
hornets himself

You are now inside a cave. There are dozens of animals and plants to get here
and you also get an animal uniform if you beat Ocelot by taking down his 
stamina. Call the Major and he'll tell you the cave is structured like a maze 
and tells you to locate an aqueduct and see if you can use something for light.
Head north to the right path and in the northeast pocket is a dead body and a 
torch and head back to the starting pont. The left path leads to an extra 
battery and a mushroom and an AK47 ammo. If you got all you need or decided to
skip to the end, then at the point where you started, go into the crawlspace
ahead and just go along the path and when you see the waterfall, do not jump
down. Just go north and you're out of the "maze". Up ahead is live food and
there is light.

Hornets start attacking but Snake dives underwater then comes face to face with
The Pain and he challenges you to a fight

Boss Fight: The Pain

The majority of his attacks are useless as long as you're in the water since
most of them are hornet related attacks and hornets and water don't mix. So
dive underwater if hornets come and knock him down with your shots. Another 
reason you can dive underwater is because he can't see you regardless of
campflauge thanks to 95% index. HAHA! When he does a doppleganger appears,
listen for his voice to find the real one. Stun grenades help scare off
dopplegangers too. The only weapon that hurts you are grenades. Also, another
tip. You can shoot him even when underwater too. After enough damage, he 
removes his mask to reveal a mess up face and spit out hornets. Time for Round
Number 2. Now the hornets come in red streaks but like before his attacks are
still useless save the grenades and he protects himself with a shield. He
reliquishes his shield when he rolls a few times. Keep fighting till he is down
for the count. Taking out his stamina nets you the hornet camo.

Good job. That part is over. No enemies here just a smooth ride to the exit.

Move north and at the fork, the left path leads to ammo but there is a claymore
mine inside. The right path is the correct path, Run down the rocks because the
hole in the middle is bottomless. At the bottom, continue north into Ponizovje
South. Head north to a warehouse.

You'll pass three searchlights while in the water. Avoid them although we never
found out the consequences nor tried to. There is food all over the place. You
are now outside the warehouse. Snake peers through his binoculars to spot
Sokolov, Volgin, and EVA (Tanya).

Volgin zaps ECA and threatens her if Sokolov resists. She is supposedly 
Sokolov's lover. Ocelot arrives and holds Sokolov at gunpoint then does the
gun dance and dares Sokolov to pick a gun. One of them has a bullet. Sokolov
gets scared and whizzes on himself. Boss stops Ocelot from his gun dance and
tells him to stay in line and let the Cobras do their job to Ocelot's dismay.
Upon finding out about Pain's death, Volgin throws a fit of rage. The End and
The Fear rolls in and Boss assigns The Fear to get Snake. The End on the other
hand is always asleep and will wake uo when its time to fight. Boss senses
The Sorrow and the rain stops

Swim north and take down the guards with a sleeper gun. Climb out of the water,
go uo the stairs and through the door. Attract the guard's attention and put
him to sleep when he comes to investigate the matter. Climb down and get the
Box A in the lower area and a bandage. Run up the flight of stairs and attract
the guard and run down and put him to sleep. Then go up and out the door to
Granity Gorki South. Run north and climb the trees to procceed deep into the
forest. Be sure to shoot any ropes you see because those are traps. If caught
in a foot trap, press the action button to cut yourself out. Climb up the ledge
to reach the outside walls area. Do no touch the fence or its BZZZZZZZZZZ!! Go
all the way left and crawl under the spot whre the wire is broken. Take out any
dogs or guards you see first. Run along the right side of the building. The 
door is locked but knock on it and the guard will open it. Knock him out and 
enter the door. Knock out the guards first. If you enter caution mode, hide
under atruck and put them to sleep. Run along the left building for a smoke
gernade and claymore. The right side has a shed with ammo and a XM16E1 and TNT.
There is a door also on the right side but in the front area of the building. 
Enter the door to enter the lab 1st floor. Slowly walk left and put the guard
to sleep. Open the door past where he was and take out another guard. Move down
the stairs to the west basement. Go around the room to the open room and take
out the guards. The other guards try to investigate and one will open the door
leading to the Cig Spray. Go to the room across and scientists will try to yell
for help if they see you. Knock them out and frisk them for medical supplies
and a battery. Enter the upper door then the upper door in the next room then
approach the next door to get a cutscene of a guy sitting down.

He is real drunk but says that Sokolov is not there anymore. He introduces 
himself as Alexander Ganin, head of Granin Design Beareau and tells Snake about
the facility and what's he done including designing the SS-1C. He has beef with
Sokolov because he was stripped of his authority because of him. Ganin shows
Snake a design for a Metal Gear. Press R1 to look at the page yourself. After
more talk, he explains the Philosopher's Legacy, something held by Volgin's
father. He also explains the location of Sokolov as thanks for complimenting
his shoes and gives you a key that will open a door to the jungle in the 
warehouse you passed earlier. He is proud of his country and wishes to become a
hero. He toasts himself to capitalism.

Switch to desert face paint and brick/tree bark uniform and exit the room and
make your way out the building carefully. If you decided to check out the 1B
basement, take a good look because when you fight "The End" and lose the battle
against him, this is where you'll end up. Let's worry about the fear first.
Go up the stairs before you exit the building and go outside for a Choco chip
camo. Once outside, remember to a crawl under the opening of the electric fence
like last time and head south

An arrow hits Snake and a wierd enemy attacks him as well. It is The Fear. That
guy is awful looking. After he challanges Snake, time to fight.

Boss Fight: The Fear

At the start of the fight, cure yourself first and extract the bolt. The leaf
camoflauge works best here. Every time you get shot with a bolt, you must
go through that process of extracting. Watch out for spike traps too. They
are labeled by a wire. The good news is that his stamina goes down too rapidly
without any work from you. So continue avoiding him till it's halfway down and
he'll be visible. The bad news is that he'll look for whatever food is on the
ground and eat it and regain his stamina. You can use that to your advantage 
and trick him into eating poisonous food that sap his life or use any food
as bait to shoot him when he is nearby. If you want to beat him by taking away
his stamina for his spider camo, set up poison foods as bait or bobby trap them
with explosives. He'll spark up when dangerously low on either bar.

Now that the Fear is gone. head south into the warehouse. Go down the stairs,
take out the guard and go up the other stairs and the previously locked door
will open. Head up the stairs and head outside and you'll get a call from EVA

Phase 2 is completed and they are putting the finishing touches on it. However
the path you need to go to is sealed. EVA says to meet her in the mountains
but there is a person named The End waiting for him in the mountains. Head up
north into Svytogornyj West, there are enemies using camoflauge so keep your
eyes peeled for them. Spirit Camo is recommended assuming this is your second
playthrough or downloaded it. Make a quick east and continue north. There are
booby traps here too. Be careful. In Sokorenvo,

You meet The End. He has a snake crawling on him and a parrot as a sidekick.
He wakes up and asks for the strength to fight once more, He thanks Snake for
showing up. That eye of his gives us the creeps. Snake calls EVA who describes
the forest areas and gives you confidence to beat The End.

Boss Fight: The End

If you do find the thermal goggles, use them to track him down after you meet
up with him and follow his footprints. The AP sensor and the MIC help track
down his position. When he starts shooting at you. Check the map for which
sniping point he is using. He loses stamins as the fight goes on so once he is
low, he'll get tired. If your lucky, you can sneak up on him while he is 
snoring and hold him up. You'll get the Mosnair N. if you take out his stamina
which won't be hard once you wear him down.

The End has met his end. He'll say a few words and his parrot will come to him.
If you ate or killed his bird earlier, its ghost will appear instead. He then
blows up.

Head north on the right side to Transnogorje Tunnel. Once inside, climb up the
long ladder. As you climb up, the theme music plays. There seems to be no end
so you can even rest your eyes while climbing and listen for when you reach the
top. At the top, exit the door to enter the mountain base. Go west then north
and watch for snakes and scorpions because they can poison you. If you kill a
guard then a vulture will appear and eat his insides. There are three guards in
this area so after the last one you enter the mountainside. Start going up the
mountain and put the guards to sleep as you go up. The pockets at the top of 
the first part are connected and all there is is just a snake and some ammo and
a styptic. Keep moving up the mountain and in the pocket is some ammo and a
crawlspace to use as a shortcut. After coming out of the crawlspace, stay
grounded to avoid detection from above. Stunning the guard seems tempting but
doing so will make him crash and alert the others. If you got the animal 
uniform on and desert face paint, you are virtually invisible while crawling.
There will be a guard above the hill. Stun him when in range. Before going up,
the next pocket has a bandage. Stand up and climb up the ledges then get back
into crawl mode. If you enter caution, stay still and the air guard won't see 
you. Dangle from the ledge then move to a safe spot and drop down. Head north.
The gun seems tempting but ignore it. The open bunker has a couple medical
supplies. The closed one has food, Knock out the guard and you're clear to the
mountaintop. Uh Oh! There's a helicopter. As long as you don't attack it, you
are OK. Just take out the guards. The canal makes the trip up the mountain 
easier. After taking out the guard in the canal, head north to pick up some 
ammo including TNT and Claymore, You'll need them against The Fury if you plan
to kill him (life bar). Get back into the canal and follow the path where the
knocked out guard is, then jump out and go right to another canal and enter the
door into the ruins.

Snake walks in slowly and walks in on a half naked Eva. Eva is scarred from
wounds inflicted by Colonel Volgin out of pleasure, The Phase 2 trial is
about to start and someone is out to spoil the party. EVA gives Snake some
some noodles, a key to the underground tunnel, and Night Vision Goggles. She
describes the structure of the building where Sokolov is and tells him to
get there. You need a colonel class to get into the west wing. So you have to
find Colonel Raikov in the east wing and steal his identity. EVA also mentions
a W.I.G. in the lake. After more talk, EVA drives off to play her other part.
The Cobras know there is a spy looming around somewhere. Snake peeps at the
Factory and EVA leaving. Volgin is agitated and punches a barrel with Granin
inside and kills him, Volgin pulls out a transmitter out of his heel and Ocelot
disapproves of Volgin's methods and Volgin gives him the kill or be killed
speech. Also, the C3 explosives have been stolen. Boss comes in and tells about
the death of The Fear and The End. Volgin is pissed. Only The Fury remains.
Boss says America is out for the Philosopher's Legacy and to kill her as well.
Ocelot sniffs EVA and suspects something about her perfume and points a
crossbow at her and then compliments her boots and does the "Showtime" gesture.

Go back to the mountaintop and move slowly and carefully along the canak and in
the crawlspace leads to a shortcut to a bunker with medical supploes. Look at
the map and head for the X which is a red door that leads to the tunnel. Go 
down the stairs and the bottom. Go north then west then north to a ladder and
climb down.

Snake walks slowly and meets up with The Fury. He is blowing fire all over the
place. He wants to set the world ablaze. We can't have that. After his speech,
time for battle.

Boss Fight: The Fury

Night Vision works here a little bit. Sometimes Claymore will help as he will
blow up when he steps on it, and even give a comment before blowing up. Shoot
him from afar and avoid the fire he sends your way. Taking away his stamina
to earn the Fire Camoflauge
------------------------

Go north, get the medical supplies and climb the ladder. You are now in the
warehouse where Sokolov is held. Take out two guards and enter the red door up
north. Use your Sonar to locate the guards and take them out. Use the 
crawlspace up north here and it leads to the southeast region. Get out the
crawlspace and you are currently safe. Go west and take out a guard and at the
end, crawl into the crawlspace and take out another guard in that area to enter
the northeast section. Go west and enter the door in the southwest area at the
end. You are now in the northwest area. Take out the guard and a dog near the 
tank and get the supplies and head back to the northeast region and go north to
a door that leads to the east wing. If you're lucky, you'll catch Raikon coming
down the stairs. He can also be found in the bathroom. Stun him then drag him
to the locker room located in the southwest side of Floor 2. Once in the locker
room, put him dowwn and Snake will his close and stuff him in a locker. Now put
on the Mask and Raikov's uniform and make your way to the west wing where
everyone salutes on you on the way. Go down the stairs then up another flight
of stairs in the north area and into a room that leads to the main area, then
follow the yellow line to the west wing. Keep moving west and the guards salute
you and let you in.

Snake removes his mask, he spots Sokolov giving EVA some film. She scares
Sokolov a little bit and leaves. Snake enters and talks with Sokolov about the
Shagohod and it's almost done. After some chit chat, Vlgin enters and Snake 
puts his mask back on and salutes Volgin. Volgin grabs Snake's crotch twice.
This is fucking gay we tell you. Volgin says he knows the major better than
anyone else and shoots Sokolov. Snake throws down Volgin and holds him at 
gunpoint. Boss enters and kicks his ass again. Volgin gets up and gets his ass
kicked too by the Boss. Volgin picks up Snake and beats the shit out of him.
This next part is not for kids to watch, it's ugly nor is it for the faint of
heart. It's a surprise that Snake didn't die from all this. Time to save. The
screen is all black and while all this is going on. Sokolov is beaten to a pulp
by Volgin with EVA crying. Sokolov eventually dies :( The screen comes back in
and this part is definitely not for kids or weak eyes. Snake gets beaten to 
a pulp too while he's hanging from a rope and Volgin shocks him with 10 million
volts. That is brutal. Volgin tells Boss to take out Snake's eyes but EVA stops
her. Ocelot is beginning to suspect EVA is the spy because of her smell. Ocelot
gets ready to shoot EVA and juggles his guns as soon as Ocelot pulls the 
trigger, Snake shoves EVA out the way and gets shot in the right eye. Ocelot
and Boss leave then EVA tells Snake where to meet her before she leaves.

In the torture room, attract the guard and dig out the fake pill embeded in 
you. Take the pill in front of the guard and he opens the cell and you use the
Revival pill to revive and take him down. Also get the transmitter out of your
wound too. LOL! The guard's reaction is priceless. Exit to the left into the
southeast region. Crawl into the crawlspace to the northeast then keep moving
west to the northwest. Head north and there should be an open door along the
wall on the right. Move through the opening till you enter the manhole leading
to the sewer. Now all sewers are sealed off and the escape route is sealed too.
Go down the stairs and make your way straight north. Any dead ends you see can
be gone around by using crawlspaces. There are only dogs here. You'll reach a
light.

Snake is being chased. After chit chatting with Ocelot, Snake falls into the
river. As Snake walks through the woods, he'll come face to face with the 
Sorrow.

Boss Fight: The Sorrow

He has no lifebar, that's the good part. You can't harm him, that's the bad
part. To make a long story short, you can choose to die on the spot if you
want instead of walking a long way then use the revival pill and that is that
for the fight. If you decide to make the journey, then all there is to it is
the fact that you walk through the ghosts of everyone you have killed up to 
this point in the game. If you followed our advice and put them to sleep 
instead of killed them then the only ghosts you'll deal with is all the bosses
you fought minus Ocelot who still lives. You will also have to avoid a 
nightmare beam that The Sorrow fires. If it hits you, then you get a little
shock. At the end is a dead body. Touch it to "die". Use the revival pill
here. However, killing Raikov earlier and seeing his ghost run butt naked is
amusing LOL!

Snake wakes up in the river and makes it to safety before he drowns. While
doing so, there is a flashback to The Boss killing The Sorrow. Snake calls the
Colonel and asked him about The Sorrow. Sorrow had ESP and had the power to 
talk to ghosts. Sigint butts in and explains that The Sorrow died two years ago
and The Boss killed him. He further explains that The Boss and The Sorrow
were enemies upon reunion and killing him was The Boss's mission. Snake calls
EVA and tells her what happened. She tells Snake to move upstream to a 
waterfall where there us a cave behind it.

Go south and cross the river, then go north along the very right and walk 
across the log and head north all the way till you enter a cave. you'll have
to move along the right agan to get past the log.

+cutscene+ Snake notices a radio and then he turns around to notice EVA
charge in on her motorcyclke. Snake gets his equipement back. Snake now dons an
eyepatch. EVA is in her two piece. EVA describes her own goals. Let's skip the
love scene and go to the C3 part. She gives snake the C3 and shows him a trick.
EVA tells snake that he needs to set the C3 on all four tanks in the Shagohod
wearhouse. Once all four are set, Snake is supposed to escape in twenty minutes
flat. EVA tells Snake how to get there, then gives him a key to open that 
locked door he passed up earlier as Raikov. After more talk, EVA leaves but not
before taking a picture of Snake with the button camera for encashyt (actually,
the word is insurance which is actions taken in case shit happens :p :p).

Head north and get some ammo and enter the red door on the left and climb the 
ladder into Gronzyj Grad Northwest.

Snake exits and puts the lid back on then dashes out of the way of the tank's
view. Damn! It sealed the manhole and the guard closed the gate.

Take out the three guards ad head east to the red door and enter the northeast
region. Put all the guards to sleep and go through theat same entrance as last
time in the north. Go through the stairs that you see upon entrance (far ones)
and enter the east wing then on to the main wing. You automatically enter the
data. Stun all guards in the hangar and lay C3 on the liquid tanks. Sigint says
not to use heavy firepower in the room. The first tank is ahead, the second one
is down the ramp and to the right. EVA calls you after laying the second 
charge. Snake asks for more time. The third charge is across to the left and
the last one is up the stairs.

Snake applies the C3 and gets set to leave but alas Volgin arrives and he's got
EVA. Boss appears again and drops Snake as always. Save the game here. Let's
skip the talking, press R1 to view The Sorrow holding up the timer and you also
go on to fight Colonel Volgin.

Boss Fight: Colonel Volgin

You got five minutes to beat him. Use your CQC techniques for best result
although you will take some damage in the brawl. Throw him to the ground and
switch to a gun and shoot him. In the middle of the fight once he is low on
energy, he'll tell Ocelot to shoot Snake but Ocelot says fight like a man.
Continue the fight till you win.

Volgin falls down and Snake makes his escape. Volgin is dead when the base
blows and all is well. Or is it? Snake hops on the motorcycle with EVA and the
two make a gateawy. The Boss had let EVA go. After a little more jibba jabba,
Volgin arrivesin the Shagohod.

Now you have to shoot any enemy soldiers as EVA drives off. You have to keep 
her alive too. Now it's okay to start killing people. This scene is just like
the last part of Metal Gear Solid 1. Just keep riding till...

Volgin starts killing his own men. Ocelot steps in and start chasing the couple
until EVA hits the brakes and Ocelot goes flying but Snake saves him from being
crushed to death.

Now keep shooting the guards as EVA rides out of the base.

A copter arrives about the same time the Shagohod does and gets destroyed.
Ocelot appears and gets blown off course by the Shagohod's rocket booster.

Continue to shoot he guards and shoot the Shagohod's missiles before they hit
you.

Soon EVA hits the brakes and the Shagohod goes flying by. The two drive the
bridge.

Once across, wait for EVA to say shoot to hit the explosive and the Shagohod
takes a bath.

It ain't over yet. The Shagohod rises up from the water. Snake and EVA board
the motorcycle and kiss ^_^ ^_^

Boss Fight: Shagohod Round 1

This is super easy. Aim a RPG-7 at one of the legs and shoot it to render it
motionless. This gives you a chance to move behind it and aim another RPG-7
into the hatch behind it.

Volgin reaches in and takes out the wires and uses his electrical powers to
charge the Shagohod back up for Round 2

Boss Fight: Shagohod Round 2

As EVA runs around as bait, aim for Volgin when he's not aiming at you.
Afterwards, he'll try to shoot you till EVA distracts him again. Keep avoiding
his attacks until then and keep up the pattern till victory is yours. The best
quotes in the game said by EVA are in this fight. "Come and get some dumbass"
and "You're only fast when you're in the bed"

Snake and EVA reach their destination. The Boss arrives for one last fight. 
After a long talk, She talks about how she was once a mother and The Sorrow was
the father and her child was taken away from her and shows Snake the scars of
her pregnancy. Let's get ready to rumble.

Boss Fight: The Boss

You got ten minutes to beat her before planes arrive and bomb the area. Put
your snow camoflauge on and stay down a lot and she can hardly see you. This
fight is a little easy minus the time limit. There are two ways to fight her.
You can hide somewhere in kneel position and snipe her from afar or get 
involved into fisticuff and try to knock her down with three physical hits then
get a gun and blast her or tranquilizer her or lay claymore on her and make her
blow up. If she sees you, she'll run after you and try to knock you to the
ground and start blasting you which doesn't hurt you. Hang in there and
you'll come out on top.
