by Vamp_S3

I'll Go Through All Of The Secrets I Know And Some Of The Techniques I Use In This Walkthrough.

Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons Of Liberty - Taker Chapter Walkthrough
First Of All, The Will Be A Soldier On The Top Deck (He'll Only See You On Levels Above Easy). If You Need To Take Somebody Out Then Kill/Stun Them And Drag Their Body Over To The Gate (Always On The Lower Decks) And You'll Throw Them Into The Sea, They Will Be Under The Sheltered Area. Staying Outside For Too Long In This Kind Of Weather Will Make You Catch A Cold So Just Get Into The Crew-Quarters As Soon As You Can (There's A Medicine Pill On The Top Deck About Half-Way Between Both Staircases).

When You're In The Crew Quarters It's Always A Good Idea To Stock Up On Rations As Things Could Get Tough Later. It's Important To Study The Paths Of The Soldiers, So Make Sure You Don't Make Any Mistakes. Make Your Way Up To The Bridge As You Are Told, But On The Way There Is A Room Near The IR Sensors (Straight Up From It) When You Enter That A Soldier Will Be Assigned To That Room, There's Also A Cardboard Box In There Which You Can Use As A Disguise. After Having Fun With Shooting All The Food And Drinks Head On Up To The Bridge, After The Videos You Will Confront Olga.

Boss Strategy - Olga

Quite A Straight-Forward One-On-One Battle, An Easy Way To Do It Is To Wait Until She Is Concealed And Reloading Then Just Roll Over To The Other Side (But Not Directly In Her Line Of Sight) And She Will Keep On Shooting Where You Were Previously, You Can Then Shoot Her Easily.
When She Opts For Dirty Tactics Such As Shooting The Tarp And Using It For Cover Things Get A Little Harder. On Easy Mody You Can Just Shoot Where The Tarp Is Attached To The Items It Is Covering And It Will Fly Away, It's Not So Simple On Harder Difficulties, You Have To Look On Your Radar And Shoot Blindly As She Tries To Hurl A Grenade At You. When You Have Gotten Rid Of The Tarp Then She'll Use The Light. If You're A Fast Shooter Then As Soon As She Tries To Change The Direction Of Which The Light Is Shining Then Just Shoot Her In The Back. This Battle Will Come To An End If You Can Take Advantage Of Some Of Those Things.

Olga Leaves You A Light-Equipped USP Behind, Which You Have No Ammo For At The Start... But Go Back Into The Bridge And There's Some There. Go Up The Stairs At The Side Of The Bridge And Up To The Top Floor Of The Mast, There Will Be Some Thermal Goggles And On The Floor Below It There Will Be The USP Supressor. On The Other Side Of The Wing There Will Be A Soldier Patrolling As Soon As You Go Round There, On The Deck Near The Wing There's A Wet Box (Great For Disguise Outdoors) Now You Are Told To Go To The Holds, So Go Back Down To The Crews Quarters And Where The Boxes Were Before (Very Easy - Normal Only... There Were No Boxes At All On Difficulty Levels Of Hard And Over) The Boxes Will Be Gone.

When You're Down In The Engine Room There'll Be A Huge Shadow Of Vulcan Raven (From Metal Gear Solid) Which Is Just A Figure. Enter The Room At The Side Of It, A Guy Will Be Stretching/Yawning, If You Can Knock Him Over The Edge (Depending On The Timing) You Should Be Able To Knock-Out The Soldier Patrolling The Lower Level Out. Make Your Way Causiously To The Other Side Of The Engine Room And Exit The Room, You'll Be In A "Small Room On The Port-Side" And When You Walk Up To The Top Of The Room Then A Soldier Will Be Fixing The Door, Ambush Him Before Or After He Makes The Call... But Never In Between Because Then They Will Send A Search Party. Now, You Need To Shoot The IR Sensors (Shoot The Flour Sacks At The End Of The Passageway To See The Beams).

After This There Is A Dark(Ish) Passageway, Now Your USP Will Have The Light Equipped. So Whenever You Go To Hold-Up A Soldier They Will See The Light Beforehand And Sound The Alert... So Use The M9. Head On Thorough The Consecutive Passageway As Well. Carry On Down And A Battle With Numerous (The Higher The Level Of Difficulty The Higher The Number Of Soldiers And The Harder They Will Be To Kill) Try To Kill Or Stun The Soldier At The Back, Behind The Box (When You Stun A Soldier They Disappear) And Then There Will Be Another Soldier Trying To Get In That Position So He'll Be Easier To Shoot. If You Have Stun Grenades A Couple Of Them Would Work. Keep On Shooting And Ducking For Cover Until Some Soldiers Come Walking Towards You In A Group Of Three And Try And Ambush You. After You Get Rid Of Them The Battle Will Be Over.

Now You're Into Hold One. If You're Spotted It's Game Over Instantly, Same Goes With Killing A Marine. There Are Various Ways You Can Get To Hold Three:

1. Go Down One Level And Hang Over The Edge (You Have To Have Full Health) And Keep Shimmying Over To The Other Side (Do The Same In Hold No. 2)

2. Go Down To The Bottom Level And, In The Corner Directly Opposite From The Bottom Of The Ladder Where You Just Got Off, There Is A Hatch Which Leads Down. Follow That And Do The Same In Hole No. 2

3. Just Sneak Past Them Using The Roll Technique To Get Over The Grids.

Now, You Need To Take The Photos... Quite Simple, One From The Front-Right, Front-Left, Front And One Of The "MARINES" Lettering On The Side. Then Upload Them Into The Computer Near The Door On The Right. When You Have All The Correct Photos Uploaded The Tanker Episode Will Be Complete.

Congratulations! You've Completed The Tanker Chapter!

You'll Get Your Konami Code And Any Items You Obtained Throughout The Game (Stealth Camoflage, Bandana Or Digital Camera By Collecting Dogtags) And Don't Forget To Save Your Game!

If You Go Through The Tanker Chapter Again Look Out For This... When You Get Into Hold 3 Via Method Number 2 That I Suggested, (With No Weapon Selected) When You're On The Platform With A Pole Leading Down From It Look At The Area Around And You'll See Revolver Ocelot! Take A Picture And When You Upload It Otacon Gets Spooked.

Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons Of Liberty - Plant Chapter Walkthrough

First Of All When You Start In Strut A Deep Sea Dock, If You Want Thermal Goggles (Referred To By Raiden As IR Goggles) Just Swim Down As Far As The Boundaries Will Let You And It's In The Opposite End To The Ladder. After You've Got Those You'll Be Able To Tell If You Have Got A Soldier's Dog-Tags By Looking At Their Neck Area Or See IR Beams. Moving On, When You Get Out Of The Water There's An M9 On The Boxes In The North-Eastern Part Of The Room (Only Very Easy) And There's A Ration In One Of The Lockers. Next Go Up The Corridor (After The Corner-View Tutorial) And There Will Be Two Unconcious Soldiers On The Floor, If You Don't Want To Be Bothered By Them After You Use The Node Just Drag Them Down To The Lockers And Put Them In. When You've Entered Your Details Into The Node You'll Then Have To Wait And If You Didn't Put The Soldiers In The Lockers Then You'll Have To Hide Until The A Path Clears Up Or You Can Take Them Out. Some Good Hiding Spots Are; In The C Shaped Made Out Of Boxes And There's A Spot To The West Where You Can Jump Onto Some Boxes And Crouch Behind Another Box.

After You've Taken The Elevator Up To The Roof, Crawl Through The Hole In The Westerly Entrance (The Colonel Will Inform You Of This When You Go Near It) And Then You Will Be Called By The Colonel About SEAL Team 10. When You've Finished Listening Head On Down The Stairs And Two Soldiers Will Be Having A Conversation And That Will Lead To One Soldier Patrolling A T-Shaped Area With 3 Entrances, The Colonel Suggests Using Noise (Lean Against The Wall And Press O) But I Think That Waiting Until He's At The Far End And Then Sneaking In At The Near End, Then Use The Node. If You Didn't Get An M9 In Strut A Then Make Your Way To Strut F (That's Only If You Want An M9) Watch Out Though, There's A Cypher Which Will Spot You If You're Not Careful. But As Soon As It Goes To A Lower Level Then Just Ran Past It. The M9 Is In The Second Room Along When You First Enter The Strut.

Then You Need To Get Yourself Over To Strut B, But On The A-B Connecting Bridge You'll Be Told To Hang, And Here It's Completely Up To You What You Do, But If You Are Planning To Walk Over The Grids Then Use The Flip Action Or Walk Slowly. When In Strut B You'll Meet Vamp And Pliskin. After All The Video Sequences You'll Recieve A Socom Off Pliskin, If The Suppressor Isn't In The Area Where You Start Then It Will Be In The Lower Floor Of Strut F You Will Have To Go Through Hole In The Wall Of The Room Where The Node Is And Use The Duct To Get To The Other Side Of The Boxes In The Other Room (Where You Find The Mine Detector) The Socom Suppressor Will Be There. After Moving On From Strut B, You'll Be Ordered To Go To Strut C Where You'll Meet The Bomb-Disposal Expert Peter Stillman And He Will Inform You On How To Freeze The C4 Bombs. After This You'll Have To Go Around All 6 Struts Disposing Of Them.
Bomb Locations:

Strut A - In The Pump Room (Where All The Pipes Are) Crawl Until You Find An Orange Looking Thick Pipe, Crawl To The End Of That And There Is The Bomb

Strut B - On The Transformer Board (Just Inside Of The Door Nearest To The Lockers)

Strut C - In The Womens Toilet Above The Mirrors

Strut D - In A Hatch In The Most South-Westerly Point On The Bottom Floor, Open The Hatch And There It Is. On Some Of The Other Modes There'll Be One Near The Stairs, Go To The Bottom Of The Stairs And Look Up.

Strut E - On The Heliport Attached To The Wheel Of The Harrier. On Harder Modes There's One Attatched To A Box On The Conveyor Belt.

Strut F - There's A Spot Where You Can Hang Down From Above Some Boxes And It's Got A Hollow Centre, The Bomb Will Be Strapped To A Wall.

After This You Will Be Called By Stillman, Who Talks About A Bomb Which Can't Be Detected By Sensor A, So Go To Strut B And Collect Sensor B If You Havent Done Already. A Countdown Will Start So You Have To Get To The Elevator At The Top Of Strut A As Fast As You Can, When You're Down In The Deep Sea Dock The Bomb Will Be On The Bottom Of The Submersible Over The Water Where You Started, However You Can't Spray Out Of The Water So You'll Have To Spray It From The Gap Between The 2 Railings. When You've Frozen The Bomb Then You'll Be Called By Colonel Saying "Good Work" And Things Like That, Then Shortly After You'll Be Called By Him Again, This Time Talking About A Retalliation To The Bomb Disposal. You'll Then Have A "Face-Off" With Fortune (A Dead Cell Member) But, You Can't Hit Her... So You'll Just Have To Hide And Dodge Her Shots Until Vamp Comes Down In The Elevator, After The Video Sequence The Countdown Will Start. This Time You'll Be Heading For The Heliport Of Strut E And Freeze The Last Bomb. Where Very Shortly After You Will Be Confronted By Fatman.

Boss Strategy - Fatman
On The Easier Modes You Can Just Ignore The Bombs For A Short While (Only If You Are Familiar With The Locations) And Direct Your Attention To The Fatman He'll Probably Be Fooling Around (Either Getting A Bird To Land On His Arm Or Skating Around In Circles) There's Your Chance To Knock Him Down And Shoot Him In The Head As He Gets Up. Repeat This Process And It Should Be An Easy Victory For You Over The "Emperor Of Explosives". After Defeating Him He Triggers The Timer To "The Biggest Bomb In The Place" Some People Find This Really Hard To Find, When All You Have To Do Is Just Drag His Body From The Boxes He's Slumped Against To Then Drag Him Away From Them And The Bomb Will Be Where He Was Lay.

Next You Get Information From The Ninja Reguarding The Whereabouts Of A Man Who Knows Where The President Is, You Get A Shell One Core Personnel Uniform, A Key-Card And A Mobile Phone... In Order To Gain Entry To The Elevator ,Which Takes You To The Other Parts Of The Shell, You Will Need To Get An AKS-74U From The Downstairs Room In Strut F (On Easy Mode There Will Be A Suppressor Nearby As Well) And There Is An M4 In The Same Room As Well. On The Way To Shell 1 (F-E Connecting Bridge) You Will Be Informed Of The Fact That There Are Claymore Mines Around There (And If You Didn't Get The Thermal Goggles Or The Mine Detector Then You'll Just Have To Crawl Over To The Bridge) Before You Attempt To Go Over The Mines, Take Out The Guard On The Roof Of Strut E Or He Might See You And Call For More Gun Cyphers... And Take The Other Cyphers Out. The Bridge Has Trap-Doors Which Can Easily Be Avoided By Just Running Like Mad.

Once You're In The Shell 1 Core Make Your Way To The Elevator At The North End. You'll Need To Got To B2 First, The Directional Microphone Is In The Computer Part Where There's A Bird And 3 Patrolling Soldiers, This Will Help You Find Ames. Now Go To The Conference Hall On B1 In The Shell 1 Core (If The Guards Think You're Acting Suspiciously They Will Call For Back-Up). Watch Out, The Guy Who Is On His Own, Next To A Box, Will Trip You Up And You'll Have To Equip The Enemy Soldier Disguise Again. When You Do Find Colonel Ames Don't Get Seen With The Directional Microphone In Your Hand. You'll Be Told To Listen In To A Conversation, You Can Skip It If It Bores You. Then Ocelot Will Approach You, Quickly Equip Your AKS-74U Before He Gets To You, Then The Ninja Will Protect You. After You Exit The Hostage Room You'll Be Without The Balaclava To Your Uniform, Which Therefore Means It Wont Be Any Use... Except For If You Need To Leave Some Footprints. Get Out Of The Shell And Head To Strut F To Get New Weapons (RGB6, PSG1, PSG1-T) And More Ammo ETC... Then Head For The Shell 2 Connecting Bridge Where You Will Be Told To Shoot Out All Of The Sensors.

Sensor Locations (Varies Depending On The Difficulty)
Above The Entrance
Bottom Of The Stairs
The Other Entrance
The Left Side Of The Bridge
Behind A Flock Of Birds
Behind The Flag (Wait For The Wind To Change Direction)
The Lower Section Of The Bridge
On The Camera Of The Cypher

Boss Strategy - Harrier

Quite A Basic Battle, After Pliskin Throws The Stinger Just Aim At The Harrier And Shoot! But Take Cover When He Shoots Using A Machine Gun. And When He Shoots The Long Ranged Guided Missile At You Just Get One Shot At Him Before Taking Cover. When He Barrages You With A Hefty Dose Of Unguided Missiles Then Just Take Cover Until He's Hovering And Then Shoot Him With The Stinger. This Should Be An Easy Battle If You Do It Right.

Now You Have To Get To Strut L Of The Shell 2 Part Of The Shell, You Can Do This By Hanging Off The Railings And Shimmying So You've Just Above The Big, Thick Pipe And Then Drop. Get To The Other Side But Try Not To Run, As You Might Slip On The Bird Crap And Then Fall Into The Water Below... Which Would Kill You. After This, Your Next Objective Is To Get To Shell 2, You Can Get There Via The Strut L Perimeter (Hang And Drop Down Onto The Floor Below) And Then Sneak Past The Patrolling Soldier (Inside The Building) After That Push Yourself Up Against The Wall And When You Move Along To The Bit With The Air Vent You'll Need To Duck. When You're On Solid Ground Again There Will Be A Soldier About To Take A Pee, So If You Aren't Looking To Get Urinated On I Suggest You Move It... Although There Is A Pretty Funny Conversation If You Call The Colonel Whilst Being Peed On. Next Do The Hang And Drop Technique To Get To Shell 2 Bridge And There Will Be Gun-Cyphers Awaiting You, It's Easier If You Destroy Them Straight Away. Then Flip Over The Hole Where The Stairs Should Be And Then To Get Past The Other 2 Holes You Should Press Yourself Up Against The Railings And Move Across.

When You're Inside The Shell You Can Skip The Listening To Olga Part And Get Straight Into Trying To Rescue "Prez". The Nikita (Remote-Controlled Missle) Is In The B1 Part Of The Core (Under Water). When You Have Got The Weapon Return To The Floor You Started On. The Easiest Room To Shoot From Is The Room You Go Past When Going To The Elevator (Just Past The Stairs) Take The Cameras Out Because They Have Guns! If You Can't See Them Properly Equip The Thermal Goggles. Stand On The Box And Then Tap X To Crouch Then Fire A Nikita Missile Into The Duct Straight Ahead Of You, The President Will Be In The Way (But He'll Try And Run Away) So Try Not To Hit Him Or It's Game Over. Aim The Missile At The Circuit Board And Then A Cutscene Showing The Destruction Of The Circuit Board. Then You Need To Enter The Room Where The Electrified Floor Once Was, This Scene For Me Sheds Light On What's Really Going On So To Me It's One Of The Most Important Of The Game, So If You Wish To Be Informed Then Don't Skip It. When You Have Finished In The Room Then Go On Outside Where You'll Be Called By Snake Immediately After Exiting The Room. You Are Then Told To Follow The President's Last Orders And Go And Find Emma Emmerich A.K.A. E.E (Otacon's Sister).

So Go On Down To The Level Where You Found The Nikita And Swim Through The Water (Directions - Turn Right And Go Right To The End, Turn Left And Turn Left Again Into The First Door/Entrance, Then Right Down A Passageway Where There Should Be A Miniature Vulcan Raven (From Metal Gear Solid) Toy. Then It's Left Where There Should Be A Poster Of A Woman, Then Right To Where There Are A Few Doors (It's The Door On The Right) After Opening That (Using Triangle) You'll Discover Stillman's Body. Now, This Part Is Only Tricky If You Make It Tricky, Go To The Top Left Of The Collapsed Structure And There Should Be A Clear Passage To The Next Door, After Doing This And Going Up The Stairs And Through That Door Then It's Time For Vamp.

Boss Strategy - Vamp

Firstly, He Informs You Of A Lot Of Things So It's The Second Of The Most Important Videos Of The Game. After This He'll Do His Signature Bow Before Ducking Into The Water, Before He Has The Chance To Do This You Need To Get A Headshot With The Handgun (Or M9 If You're Trying To Take Him Down Non-Lethally) And When He's In The Water You Should Shoot Out The Lights In The Rooms As This Will Come In Handy Later. Wait For Him To Stop Throwing Blades At You Then Get A Few Shots At Him. As The Battle Progresses Vamp Will Get More And More Aggressive, And He'll Throw More Blades At You And Come In For More Close Range Attacks Than Before, He Will Also Try And Pin You Down By Your Shadow, But If You Shot The Lights Out He Will Be Unable To. Using The M4 Is The Easiest Way To Kill Him, In My Eyes. But, There Are Other Strategies If You Find It Really Hard To Beat Him. Such As: Laying Claymore Mines Down On Both Sides Of The Area (Left And Right) And When He Walks Towards You He Won't Be Able To Attack Because He's Walked Into A Claymore And Will Return To The Water. Another Is To Shoot Him Whilst He's In The Water. If You Use The PSG1 You Will Be At A Major Disadvantage In The Second Half Of His Health Bar He Will Be Faster Than Before So Your Scope Will Useless.

Next You Have To Get To Emma, Go Through The Water Passageways And There Will Be Some Water-Mines So Try And Steer Clear Of Them, Keep On Going Straight Down And Turn Left Right At The Very End, There Should Be "Body-Armour" There. Swim Back Out And Do A U-Turn. Carry On Up The Stairs And You're In The Room Where Emma Is. When You're In The Room She Is In The Locker That's At The North Of The Room (She'll Be A White Dot On The Map) If You Can't Find Her Then Shoot Some Explosives At The Lockers And You'll Hear Her Scream. Now, Swimming Through The Water, You Have To Bear In Mind That Emma Has A Lower O2 Gauge Than You, So Try And Surface When Her O2 Gets Low. When Out Of The Water Use Triangle (Without A Weapon Selected) To Hold Her Hand, The Next Water-Passageway Should Be A Little Bit Harder Considering The Fact That There Is Longer To Cover, But It Isn't... Just Try And Resurface Whenever You Can And You'll Both Make It Out Alive. When You Get To The Elevator Just Leave Emma Near The Stairs And Either Spray The Bugs With Coolant Or Call The Elevator And Get Emma In A Chokehold And Drag Her Into The Elevator.

After Taking The Trip To The Top Level Then There Will Be Some Soldiers On Patrol, Try Not To Leave Emma Right In Front Of The Elevator Because On The Harder Levels A Soldier Will Come Out Of The Elevator And Start To Walk Around. Quite Straight Forward If You Keep Emma Close To You. The Bridge On The Way Out Of Shell 2 Has Been Temporarily Repaired With Metal Girders So No Need To Worry About Falling Down. There's A Soldier Patrolling The Area At The Top Of The Stairs So Watch Out For Him And Destroy The Cyphers Too. Using The Coolant Spray, Put Out The Fire That Blocks Your Path (You'll Get A Message About This, Select The Phone In The Items Menu To Read It) Make Sure Emma Is With You Or Else You Won't Be Able To Get Through The Door (Because You Don't Have A Level 5 Key Card And She Does). It's Really Easy To Read The Route Of The Next 2 Soldiers, Basically Just Wait For The Guy That Patrols The Door Furthest Away From You To Get In Your Sight And Then Shoot Him With The M9, Then When The Other Soldier Turns Round Just Shoot Him Too. Unlock The Air-Tight Door And Take Emma Into The Room.

You'll Then Be Taken Down To The Oil-Fence Where You'll Need To Protect Emma From Soldiers And Gun-Cyphers. Firstly, If You're On One Of The Levels Above Very Easy Then Check The Bridge For Claymore Mines (Using The Thermal Goggles And The PSG1) And Shoot Them To Destroy Them. If You Can't Seem To Kill The Soldiers Or Destroy The Gun-Cyphers Then Just Get Your Stinger Out And Shoot Them With That, Bare In Mind Though That There Are A Lot Of Targets (Because Of The Birds).

After Doing So, About Three Quarters Of The Way Accross The Third Part Of The Floating Bridge, Emma Will Be Held Hostage By Vamp. Now You Will Have To Use The PSG1 Or PSG1-T. Try And Aim For His Head As This Will End The Battle Quicker.

Soon After You Will Be Told To Go To The Computer Room (B2 Of The Shell One Core), There Won't Be As Much Soldiers As Before, But Still There Are A Few... If You Want The Digital Camera Then Go Into The Room To Your Right As You Exit The Door From The Oil Fence. The Guards Will Be Careless So It Should Be Easy To Slip Past Them. After All Of The Videos (If You Skip Them You'll Be Confused At Why Olga Is Talking To You, It's Because She's The Ninja And The Patriots Have Her Child.. And If You Die, Her Child Dies)
After Being Released From The Rack Then Go And Use The Node (So You Can Use The Radar). And Head On Into The Next Room, You Can Still Beat Them Up... But I Would Advise You Not To As They All Have Better Hearing Than Before So They'll Be More Aware To Noises. Get To The Top Floor And Across To The Sigmoid Colon. Run Up And Down A Few Times And You'll Meet With Snake (He'll Then Give You All Of Your "Gear" Back Plus One High Frequency Blade) You'll Be Taught How To Use It So No Need For Me To Waste My Words On Describing How It Works.

After All This You'll Go Through To The Next "Battle" Snake Will Hand You Some Items If He Sees You Go Short On One, If You Are Planning To Use The H.F Blade Then Use The Guard (L1) Technique To Try And Glance Some Bullets Back At Them, But If You Just Want To Shoot Then Go For It (It's The Easiest Way). If You're A Beginner And You Are Scared Of The Action Then You'll Be Merely A Spectator To The Death That Snake Is Giving Away For Free. The Same Applies In The Next Room (Except For The Fact That You're In A Circular Room And The Tengu Soldiers Jump Down From Above) Snake Will Try Take Control As Usual, But If You Want To Do It All Yourself Then Knock Him Out And Whilst You're At It You Should Steal His Dogtag (The Dogtag Varies With Every Level Of Difficulty) Now You Listen To Solidus Explain Some Things To You (The Things About The S3 Are Not True, As You Will Find Out Later) Next It's The Metal Gear Rays.

Boss Strategy - Metal Gear Ray

This Is As Hard As You Make It, The Harder The Difficulty The Better The Techniques You'll Have To Use. Very Easy Through To Normal Is Very Straight Forward, Shoot The Leg Then The Open Mouth And Try And Shoot As Many As You Can On The Sidelines (Because Then They Won't Last As Long When They Step Up To The Stage) But Hard And Anything Over Are A Completely Different Story, Same Leg And Mouth Techniques But The Metal Gear Rays Will Be More Aggressive (More Barrages Of Bullets And Missiles) But, The Most Effective Technique I Found Is To Use Some Chaff Grenades, Throwing A Chaff Grenade Will Mean That The Metal Gear Ray's Co-Ordination Will Be Delayed So They Will Either Hesitate To Attack Or Not At All... Another Advantage Is That If You Use Chaff The Missles The The Rays Shoot From Their Knees And Necks Will Be Very Delayed, You'll Be Able To Out-Run Them A Lot Easier. Stick To What You Know And Try Not To Make Any Mistakes And You'll Make An Easy Job Of It.

After The Battle You'll Be Confronted By Solidus Who Will Once Again Choke You (This One Is Harder And Nearly Impossible On Hard Mode Plus) Then Another One Of Those Very Important Videos Will Spring Up, This Time It's Informing You That Ocelot Is A Host To Liquid Snake (Solid Snake's Genetically Identical Brother) And He'll Inform You That You Are All Part Of A Training Project And Also Fortune Proves That Even Though She Was Protected By An Electro-Magnetic Forcefield Before That She Really Does Have Psychic Talents. Now, After The Videos You Will Be On The Top Of The Federal Hall Building With Solidus Talking To You.

Boss Strategy - Solidus

Now... The Final Showdown, Who's The Better, Solidus Or Solidus' Creation? A Simple Question You May Think, But Solidus Has So Many Different Techniques He Can Use, And Here's How To Avoid Them:

Heat Seeker Rockets - He'll Fire Them From His Tenticle Like Arms, An Easy Way To Evade These Is To Turn Right Round, They Are Poor At Steering So They Will Just Explode On The Wall If You Did It Properly

Choking You - Same As When You Were Inside Arsenal Gear, Just Tap Triangle Like Mad!

Sweep - From Time To Time He Will Try And Sweep You With His Tenticle Like Arms, An Easy Way To Evade Them Is To Just Flip Away From Him As Soon As He Starts.

Jumping From The Building - Just Run Away To The Top End Of The Building And You'll Be Safe

Sword Barrage - He'll Put Together Some Deadly Combos Using His Swords So Just Try And Steer Clear Of Him When His Swords Go Blue.

Charging At You - Just Get Out Of The Way As Soon As You Can, And Try Not To Go Through The Fire.

As The Battle Progresses You'll Get To Notice All Of The Techniques He Uses, But When His Health (Or Knockout Meter) Goes Down To About Half Way Down He'll Lose His Tenticle Like Arms And Attack You Faster And More Violently Than He Did Before (Charging All Over The Place, And He'll Try And Hit You At The End Of A Charge, When You Hear Him Say Something Like "Over Here" Then You Know He's About To Try And Charge At You. And He Will Start To Use His Swords More Often) Watch Out And Make Good Use Of Your Rations And You Should End As The Victor. The Easiest Way To Win Is By Knocking Him Out (Because You Can Use More Knockout Techniques EG. Punch Kick Combo And Blunt Side Of HF Blade Press Square To Change It)

Watch The Videos At The End Because There's A Scene Where Raiden Takes His Dogtags Off And Your Name Is On The Tags... There's Some Parts You Cant Skip, Like The One Where Raiden Is Talking About This Place And What He's Going To Pass On, And The Ending Also. After The Credits You'll Hear A Conversation Between Snake And Otacon... Which At First Seems A Little Bit Weird.

Congratulations! You've Completed The Plant Chapter!

You'll Get Your Konami Code And Any Items You Obtained Throughout The Game (Wigs By Getting All The Dogtags From The First For Levels Of Difficulty Or Digital Camera By Getting It In Strut E After The Oil Fence) And Don't Forget To Save Your Game!
