There's a legend when you go into the tuning menu to tune your car. One button views details as to what settings you should use for the different sort of tracks in the game. For example, if you bring up details on shocks bound, it will tell you that if it is soft, you will soak up the bumps at the expense of handling, and if you set it to hard/stiff, your car will handle flatter and faster. Just a quick tip with these settings:

- the only time (usually) that you will need a soft suspension is in speed challenges where one bump at high speed can knock you off course.

- the only exception to this rule is the Drags on Nevada Highway where there are a couple of bumps to get past.

-For Grip/Drift/any flat-surface race, use a hard suspension to corner better.

Also, this isn't a Gran Turismo, you can't change things like toe and camber, only more prominent things like shocks, cam timing and brake bias.

Murcielago answered:

Wait on, I only noticed that you can now...

For Drags, you'd want maximum caster to get the most acceleration and speed out of your car, a stiff suspension and tune the engine to get the most power and torque out of the 1/4 mile.

For drift, you want a front brake bias (in real life it's rear for oversteer but oh well), and increase the brake and handbrake pressure a bit but make sure you match those settings. Toe out the wheels as much as you like, and if you really want to, stiffen the roll bars as much as you can for snap oversteer.

Grip, leave brake settings as default, because it's the suspension that really counts here. Keep the shocks stiff because the majority of grip courses are more flat, and you'll need the handling, give the wheels slight negative camber, but not too much or you'll lose acceleration and handling capabilities.

Basically, use the View Details button to help.

Speed, adjust the cam timing, give maximum boost, increase nitrous power and jetting pressure a bit, and you're set. Also, you might want to soften up the suspension a bit to soak up the bumps.

Mucielago, you seem to know a lot about this game, so can I ask where I might find the wheelie bar, my GT500 drags its rear bumper and loses control when in a wheelie competition, but not in normal drag races.
