How do I defeat the Gargoyle with Expelliamus?

Hi!

I just received the Expelliamus spellbook and now I am facing the Gargoyle.

I am using Expelliamus spell to defend myself and have inflicted harm on the Gargoyle.

However, I keep using the spell and keep hitting the Gargoyle, but nothing is happening. The Gargoyle's health meter went down after I hit him the first 4 or 5 times....but now every time he gets hit, his health meter doesn't change at all.

Is there something I'm missing or something else I need to do? I read the walkthrough for this part of the game and it said after you hit him 9 times (total), he'll blow up---but that's not happening and I've hit him more than 9 times already.

Help!

Using Expelliamus to throw the gargoyle's spells back at them is the only way to defeat it.

Did you ever beat this challenge? We are having the same problem. No matter what we do, the gargoyle does not take damage.

When the gargoyle begins to deflect the attacks with his wings you need to keep hitting the same orb back at him on about the third time it will do damage to him, its like playing catch with the orb haha.

When you ed yourself with the expalliarmus spell did you aim at the gargouly at first before he hit you .IF NOT THEN FACE THE DIRECTION OF THE GARGOULY AND PRESS R1 ON OUR CONTROL AND DON@T LET GO UNTIL YOU REBOUNDED THE GARGOULY's YELLOW BALL AND IT MMUSST HIT HIT HIM!!

Start hitting the orb at the gargoyle and after the first 3 hits he will start throing them to the side of you
Keep using expellearmus and he will start hittint back at you
