You will have to pay him a salary for each game you have him play in order for him to join your team. When their contract expires don't worry because you can get more money. You can't sign a player if they have a contract with another team, though. He doesn't have a team I believe, but you can find him outside Djose Temple, he looks like Beclem. It should be easy to recruit him, because it doesn't cost that much. If you can't find him in the area, you might not have activated the cut scene yet and might have to wait and go back.

Go to the Moonflow and ride the shoopuf to the other side. Head towards Guadosalam. There should be one small area where there's a bench and some Crusaders. He's the one in blue.

When you first enter the area to the Djose Temple, when you're walking down the stone bridge, two Crusaders will run up to you and then walk back to their neutral positions. One of them is Kyou: he has a blue shirt with red gear and boots, white shorts, and a silver headpiece/mask that covers his eyes. That is where you find him.
