No you need the soulstone. Fly to the big place near Argonia which looks like a baseball stadium from far away. Then go to the altar and press x to be warped there.You have to beat Rhapthorne to do this.
And no you can't fight the metal king slimes but you can fight the liquid metal slimes. To fight them take the ship and then go to the south-west corner of the map. They are found abundantly here.
Theres a lil monutain top that has tons of liquid metal slimes metal kings and metal slimes just north of rydon tower I was gettin the metal slimes almost every battle and metal kings I killed like five there and killed quite a few liquid metals to
