On DU how do you fight cooler instead of Frieza ?

Once you beat Frieza once you will incounter 3 dots you need to go to the middle and you will face Cooler.
After you face him once then he comes back as meta Cooler if you go to his dot again, talk to him once and don't go back because you need to get Coolers spaceship capsule.
So after you need to go north of his ship to find that capsule now fight him, if you dont find the capsule then just fight him.
Yes that is possible, depending on how you unravel the story it will most likely happen the second time you try to beat dragon universe.
On your second (or over) time through DU as Goku, after you beat Frieza for the first time there will be three red dots.
Go to the one on the bottom and you will fight SS1 Vegeta,beat him and go to the red dot, there you will fight Cooler.
P.S. If you beat him you will unlock him!
You don't you fight Cooler after Frieza and you do it by beating super saiyan Vegeta first.
He is in the red dot underneath where you fight Frieza.
After you win go to the red dot and then you fight Cooler.
With Goku, When you find the 3 dots on Namek go to the middle one.
Cooler: Most Important in unlocking Cooler, is this: Not only do you need to beat Goku's Dragon Universe, you need to have beaten Vegeta's Dragon Universe as well.
That being said, here we go: Using Goku's Dragon Universe, you need to get to the point where you have beaten Frieza and there are three red dots on the map.
Go to the red dot DIRECTLY BELOW where you fought Frieza,...and beat S.S. Vegeta. After the battle, go to the red dot in/near the middle of the screen.
This will trigger the "Cooler Sequence". When you beat him, he will become unlocked. Although he can be fought by other characters, THIS IS THE ONLY WAY TO UNLOCK HIM!!!
NOTE: After you defeat Cooler, another event will be in the same place. BEFORE going to this battle, and AFTER you talk to "Metal" Cooler, search north of his space ship.
If you find the right spot, you will unlock the "Metal" version of Cooler (the "Cooler's Space Ship" capsule).
