If the game is frozen, there may not be much you can do. You can try to clean the disc and inspect any scratches. Make sure to get all the dust off. If that doesn't work, you'll probably have to get a new game. Sorry :(

What you can do to solve this problem is pretty much do what steelersrock01 said. This is the only way I can think of fixing a game. But I do have one more way: this is what I sometimes do. You take the messed-up game CD and put it under a sink. Pour a little bit of cold water on the CD. Then gently but thoroughly, dry the CD. CAREFUL, CD cover MUST be dry along with other side in order for this to work. After drying, try again. Try it twice to ensure working progress. If this doesn't work, sorry. Get a new CD, then. :(

It's happened on Crash Bandicoot : TWoC - PS2

I was having the same issue and was able to fix it by adding a tiny drop of gentle scent free hand soap to the back of my disc and rubbing the soap into the disc with a cotton ball in circular motions. I then got clean cotton ball and rinsed the soap off under cold water, also in circular motions. Then dried the disc with a soft towel. It is working perfectly now.
Make sure the disc is completely dry before putting it back into your PlayStation

You might have a pirated copy instead of a actual legal copy. Try exchanging it for a regular legal copy.
