Hey, I've got a very bad bug in this game!!! In the "Babik Nurn" mission..

First of all when you go to the boat with Babik he will stay there instead of following you around so him not following you is not a problem and secondly the red and shiny thing is called a ruby and you get it by going to the little girls dad (the one that you saved) and he will give you the ruby then go to the boat again to leave act ll and go to the islands in act lll.

I know this is old as heck but here's what happened to me. I was running my barbarian through Vanarhost's castle and found the prison cells where Babik is supposed to be located. Normally when you walk through this area the first time you have a short cutscene with Babik about how he got into the cell and how you can get him out. That scene didn't happen for me (It wasn't until much later that I even realized I was supposed to have that cut scene with Babik), I just walked straight on through to the next area and grabbed my quest item (I think it was the key after killing Vanarhost). When I made my way back to the prison cells I was given a weird cutscene that made no sense, the screen panned over to Babik's cell but it was empty. Babik was saying some phrase that I couldn't remember. I wasn't able to open the cells even though I had the key and it was at this point the game was pretty much over. It turns out this glitch begins as far back as the blood vine quest. I found out that if I used a gate scroll in the area where the blood vine is found then I end up triggering the glitch. I did this with my both my Wizard and Wood Elf and I have yet to find a solution for the glitch after it's been triggered. The best practice I've found is to just note gate scroll in that area. I'm better off walking back into the castle and gate scrolling from there, selling my gear, gating back in and continuing the quest.
