The black orb can be found by Defeating "The Forgotten One" in the basement.

To get the black orb you must defeat the forgotten one in the basement of the entrance of the castle( the side of the warp room ). WAIT YOU CANT GET IN THE DOOR?!?!?! Thats becuase you need the unlock jewel. To get the unlock jewel you must go to the place in the pagoda of the misty moon that is very dark with the platforms. Jump AWAY from the light and you will land on a platform and eventually you will see arrows and that will be the door to get the unlock jewel from. It's challenging but it's worth it.
