Dynasty Mode

When you first start Dynasty Mode, you have two choices. You can either build for the future, or win here and now. If you choose the former, you should use the majority of your upgrades on Scouting, Medical and Coaching. You should also trade some of your better players (not best) for early draft picks. If you choose the latter, you should use most of your upgrades on Equipment Room, Team Travel, Team Gym and Practise Rink. You could also trade some of your high draft picks for better players in the push for the Stanley Cup. With your upgrades, you should use every 4th one if you're building for the future, every 5th one if you're pushing for the Stanley Cup on either Locker Room, Marketing or Legal. We'll use Toronto as an example for pushing for the Stanley Cup. You already have a good Practise Rink (it starts at the 5th level) so spend the 3 you have on the other 3 mentioned above. On the 4th one choose one at random. For the 5th one, if your team is playing consistently in the top 4 of the league, spend it on Legal for maybe another better player. If your team is playing well but only good enough to be in the top 16, use it on Marketing or Locker Room, and if your team is in the bottom 14, change strategies trade a couple of decent players away for a couple of 1st round draft picks and wait 'til next year. And we'll use Minnesota as the example for building for the future. Minnesota starts off with level 4 scouting so you're off on the right track (It also starts with a decent practise rink, so you can play well at home). Spend your first 2 on Medical and Coaching and your 3rd at Random. If your team is in the bottom 14, spend your 4th upgrade on Marketing or Locker Room, but if your team is in the race for the playoffs, spend it on Legal. If your team is in the top 8, ditch the Future plan and use it on one of the 4 ideal ones in Facilities. Trade away one or two of your 1st round draft picks for better players, and good luck in the race for the cup!
