I'm stuck on the desert to get to the mirage tower, I have tried going left, left down, down then left but it doesnt work

you are wrong you have to go left ,down,left,down,left,down,left.try it ,it'll work for sure
Why don't you try south left, south right 3 times, south left again, and then north left twice, it will work
