Question for Half-Life 2

How do you get to the horse statue in the chapter "follow freeman", someone else went and asked years ago and no answers to them so I'm at the map where you need to go to a horse statue

Continue around the streets into the parking garage then weave up the building while fighting. The roaming strider needs to shoot a series of cannon blast to open up walls allowing you to progress at increments. Unfortunately, I’ve seen the script glitch and the strider will not take all the shots needed to open the correct walls.
