The suspects in the game are:

Emily: Her mother died barely a month ago and shes very quiet. She lives in Lilac Inn.

Jane: This is Emily's Guardian who spends her time standing at the podium. She is Emily's mom's best friend and is in no way related to her.

Mr. Topham: Mr. Topham is a little strange. He runs a buissness that ''Strenthens the Psychic mind.'' He's the one who got all the money from Josiah Crowly's will. You can find him right next door to the Lilac Inn.

The same happened to me. Apparently there is a part where Emily leaves so you can read the letter her mom wrote. Did you do that? I couldn't figure out why she wouldn't let me read the letter so I got the answer from a walk through. I think because I didn't actually read it, it's not letting me get the slab out either.

You have to get in front of the parking lot of the area (which I think is usually marked by other parked cars, or a little dent/bigger roundish turned-in spot near the building), and press the spacebar.
