Amazing
I remember when I first came across Half-Life, although to be more accurate it was a demo of Half-Life: Opposing Force. I was 9 at the time and my neighbour and I started playing it, thinking it was really cool with all the explosions and crashed Ospreys etc. Then we came to the part where the Zombie smashes his way out of the CT scanner and proceeds to kill everyone. This scared us to no end to the point where we turned and ran back to the original room you start in and cowered on the table so the Zombie couldn't reach us.
Anyway, when I finally grew up, I borrowed the original game off a friend, who eventually said I could keep it, and I became so hooked on it. Whilst it's a game approaching 20 years of age, this doesn't mean squat. It looks great even to some degrees in today's standards. It does really get your heart going at points making you think, do you really want to go into the room and face down loads of different aliens and/or marines who are simply gunning for your death. All you have initially are your brains, a HEV Suit (or simply put a suit of armour) and a crowbar. But these would later become iconic.
Despite the age of the game, general physics tend to be pretty real and there for allows you to work out how to solve problems. This later becomes updated in Half-Life 2, but still it allows you to progress in a realistic environment! As a result, Half-Life ultimately became one of my favourite games of all times, and one that I still continue to play over and over again.
