My name is Robert Allen Rusk and I am a hardcore gamer with about 30+ years
of gaming experience. I am an ex-gametester (Broderbund Software, LucasArts
Games, Point Of View Computing) and an ex-arcade attendant (Namco
Cyberstation - Pier 39, San Francisco, CA). I also own multiple systems such
as the Sega Dreamcast, Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64, Atari Jaguar, PlayStation
1 and 2, Xbox, and Xbox 360.

I started writing guides in 2003 because I felt it was something I could do
utilizing my writing skills gained in college and gametesting along with my
passion for vidgames. Over time I have honed my overall writing and
organization skills plus my creative thinking skills. Additionally, I have
extended the play value of the games I have written guides and FAQs for many
times over plus I have received many letters from all over the world.

I am also what one may call an RGB Analog Video enthusiast. I hack most of my
game consoles to try to get the best possible video from them and that
usually involves tapping into the RGB Analog video signals and using them on
the right monitors to achieve my desires. To this end I became a member of
the GamesX.com mod forum and I post on their "RGB + Video Discussions" forum
area from time to time.

In addition, I am a member of the X-Otic Computer Systems of San Antonio
(www.xcssa.org), a group who specializes in Linux, Mac, and other systems. We
are also a group of hackers and electronics enthusiasts.

I am also a regular forum poster at GameFAQs, an occasional poster at
AtariAge, Digital Press, GTA Forums, and Video Game Saga. I am also a member
of The MoFaT (a members only message board set up by "Grand Theft Auto: Vice
City" players who met on the Vice City message boards at GameFAQs).

Outside of gaming, my interests include "Godzilla" (I have been a G-Fan since
the age of ten) and "Red Dwarf". I am also a long time soundtrack collector
with many titles in my possession. As far as favorite sports teams go, my
teams are the San Antonio Spurs (NBA) [the local team], the Denver Broncos
(NFL) [although I live in Texas, I am originally from Colorado Springs,
Colorado] and the Air Force Falcons (NCAA Football).

This guide was constructed using TextWrangler on an Apple Mac Mini. I view my
work in Safari to help in seeing how it would look on the web and correct
format errors. I also play "Mini Ninjas" on a Nintendo DSi XL that was a
lost-and-found claim.

Welcome to my "Mini Ninjas" guide! If this is the first time you have visited
then you will find a lot of useful information in a highly organized format
that you can use to beat the game. Quotes taken from readers' e-mail are
presented "as is" and may include spelling and grammatical errors.

The main emphasis of this guide is to provide information on how to find all
of the Tengu and complete all of the Side-Quests as well as the best ways to
beat the bosses including the last one, Ashida. I hope that you enjoy this
guide as much as learn from it.

During the construction of this guide I used the following for additional
reference:

  >>"Mini Ninjas" (NDS) Guide - by Enalia (Nicole Ockerman)
    *******************************************************
      I initially used her guide for some assistance early in my first
      run-through but her document is incomplete and it was the only text
      based guide for this game out there. I do refer to her work at certain
      points within this guide.

  >>TheShapeshifter100
    ******************
      She is an young English woman who posted a Let's Play series of this
      game on YouTube. Her videos helped to fill in some of the missing
      information, especially on the Tengu.

  >>"Mini Ninjas" Official Strategy Guide - by Michael Knight
    *********************************************************
      This guide is for the console versions and therefore can not be of much
      use for the DS version. However, I needed to know what the names of the
      enemies were and this book helped me on that. Some of the names were
      either taken or inspired by the book.

"Mini Ninjas" for the Nintendo DS is based off of the console version of the
game. It is not a secondary story related to the story within the console
version - it is a portable version of the same story. I throughly enjoyed the
Xbox 360 version and wanted to give this one a try when I acquired my DSi XL.
Of course, I had to wait until I finished up my "GTA: Chinatown Wars" guide
first.

I also enjoyed this version but did not like the camera system. I thought it
to be a hinderance in certain situations, especially when it came to wall
running. However, given the limitations of the DS, I thought they did the
best job with the hardware available. I liked how they used the touch screen
for the Plane of Spirits challenges but found that the game can be quite
picky when it came to using the Microphone.

I do not know at this time if this game will also run on the Nintendo 3DS or
if the analog nub would work on this game if it did.

Although the manual covers the setup pretty good, I felt that I should
include a section on controls.

You use your D-Pad to move your character around and the L Button to center
the camera. You can also look around by holding down the L Button and use the
D-Pad the move the camera.

Double tapping Up on the D-Pad will make you run. You use the B Button to
jump. You can climb up low walls by jumping against it. You can also do what
is known as Wall Running. Run at a wall at an angle and jump on it. You will
then run to the other end of the wall.

You can also climb up high walls by finding certain small nooks and wall
jumping within them. Jump onto one wall and jump again to zig-zag to the
opposite wall. Continue to quickly jump and you will zig-zag all the way to
the top of the high wall.

When you first start the game you will be presented with various menus:

  >>Solo

      This is for the single player portion of the game:

        --Continue
          ========
            Continue a game in progress from any of the three save slots.

        --New Game
          ========
            Lets you start a new game from scratch.

        --Plane of Spirits
          ================
            Lets you play around with the Plane of Spirits challenges that
            you have already completed. There are no bonuses for doing them
            again.

  >>Multiplayer
    ***********
      This allows you to play against another player using the wireless
      system. They have to have their own copy of the game in order to play
      with them.

  >>Options

      This allows you to choose the game text, look at the game credits, and
      play back any cutscenes you have opened up.

The Nintendo DS has two screens that allow you to interact with the game
world:

0+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+0+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+0
| A. The Top Screen |~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~\
0+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+0+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+0

This is where all of the action in "Mini Ninjas" takes place. In the center
of your screen is your current character. Down at the bottom of the screen is
the following:

  >>Health
    ******
      Your Health is represented by multiple Big Hearts. The more you have,
      the more damage you can take. It takes about five hits to fully remove
      a Big Heart. When you get hit at least one Small Heart is removed from
      your overall Health.

      When all of your Hearts disappear then you will die. You can choose to
      continue from where you died but you will have half of your Health, Ki
      Meter, and Stamina Meter.

      You can recover Health by eating Food which can be found at the bases
      of some trees or inside of bushes. Food can also be found inside what
      are known as Food Pots. They look like large black pots with a red
      symbol. Break them to open them. Each piece of Food will restore one
      Small Heart. If your Health is full then you will place the Food inside
      your Inventory so you can use it later if you need to.

      There are many different kinds of Food you will find. You can carry up
      to nine of each kind within your Inventory.

      You can also restore your Health by using Minor and Major Health
      Potions, achieving a new level, and entering into the next area or
      Castle.

  >>Ki
    **
      This is represented by a light blue line directly below your Health. It
      is the foundation of Kuji Magic, something only Hiro can use. This can
      be drained by using Spells or being attacked by Ghosts. You can
      replenish your Ki by eating Honey, using Weak and Strong Ginseng
      Extract Potions, and by Meditating.

  >>Stamina (aka Shadow Ki)
    ***********************
      This is the yellow line directly underneath the Ki Meter. You deplete
      this line when running. When it is depleted then you will stop running.
      When you stop running then it will slowly replenish on its own. When
      you Meditate then it will quickly fill back up. It is linked to the Ki
      Meter in that when it is drained then your Stamina Meter will also
      drain to match it.

  >>Experience Gauge
    ****************
      This is the round symbol to the left of your Health, Ki, and Stamina
      Meters. Each time you defeat an enemy, complete a Side-Quest, or free a
      Caged Animal or Tengu you will gain Experience. You will see it creep
      up along the sides of the symbol. When it fills up then you will gain a
      Level and obtain additional power. When you start the game you will be
      at Level 1 and have three Big Hearts.

      There are a total of sixteen Levels and listed below are the upgrades
      for each one:

        --Level 2 - Health increase; Big Heart.
        --Level 3 - Ki increase.
        --Level 4 - Health increase; Big Heart.
        --Level 5 - Hiro earns the Jikoko Attack (explained later).
        --Level 6 - Ki increase.
        --Level 7 - Health increase; Big Heart.
        --Level 8 - Ki increase.
        --Level 9 - Health increase; Big Heart.
        --Level 10 - Ki increase.
        --Level 11 - Health increase; Big Heart.
        --Level 12 - Ki increase.
        --Level 13 - Ki increase.
        --Level 14 - Ki increase.
        --Level 15 - Health increased; Big heart.
        --Level 16 - Nothing! No bonus of any kind.

      There is a way to get up to Level 15 well before reaching the end and I
      will cover that in the main portion of the guide.

| B. The Touch Screen |~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~\
0+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+0+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+0

This is where you will do a lot of interacting. On the left side of the Touch
Screen is where you will switch out your characters:

  >>Hiro
    ****
      He is basically the main character of the game. He is the only one who
      can cast spells using Kuji Magic and access the Plane of Spirits
      through Meditation. He has average speed and strength and uses the
      Katana as his weapon of choice. He also uses ranged weapons which can
      be accessed at the lower left center part of the screen:

        --Shuriken
          ========
            These are your basic ninja stars. These are mainly used to
            trigger Levers from afar. They can damage enemies but it takes a
            quite a few of them to defeat them. You can carry a maximum of 99
            of this weapon.

        --Super Shuriken
          ==============
            These are much larger than the regular Shurikens and can do a lot
            more damage allowing you to defeat most enemies in one shot. You
            can carry a maximum of nine of this weapon.

        --Bomb
          ====
            These are weapons that explode on contact and can be used on
            groups of enemies for quick disposal. You can carry a maximum of
            nine of this weapon.

  >>Futo
    ****
      He is Hiro's best friend and very large and slow. However, he is also
      very strong and is best suited to close combat, especially since he
      carries a large and long Hammer. He has no ranged weapons. In addition,
      he can't climb high ledges, wall run, or wall jump.

  >>Suzume
    ******
      She carries a Flute that also doubles as a melee weapon. She is the
      weakest of the three but is also the fastest. Like Hiro she also has
      ranged weapons:

        --Dart
          ****
            She can also use her Flute to shoot darts at enemies. They have
            about the same effectiveness as the Shuriken but I think she may
            be more accurate with them than Hiro is with the Shuriken. You
            can carry a maximum of 99 of this weapon.

        --Sleeping Dart
          *************
            One hit with this weapon can put any enemy to sleep for a short
            period of time. This makes attacking them easier. You can carry a
            maximum of nine of this weapon.

        --Smoke Bomb
          **********
            This weapon will send out a large cloud of smoke that effectively
            stuns all nearby enemies thus making them easier to defeat. You
            can carry a maximum of nine of this weapon.

       <0+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+<<##0##>>+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+0>

On the right side of the screen is the following:

  >>Meditation
    **********
      This only appears when Hiro is on the screen. When he Meditates then he
      will replenish his Ki and Stamina but this will take some time. You can
      get out of Meditation by simply moving the D-Pad.

  >>Ninja Hat and Cape
    ******************
      One of the important items you are given is the large Ninja Hat. When
      worn it offers some protection from the arrows that some of the enemies
      will fire at you. Each time an arrow bounces off of it then you will
      see the Ninja Hat icon on the Touch Screen get more red. When it fills
      up then you automatically take off the Hat.

      Whenever you take off the Hat it will recover from any damage that it
      has sustained. The Hat is also used as a raft when in the water. The
      Hat can be damaged by smacking hard into any rocks. In the Snow
      Wilderness it is part of a special Cape designed to protect you from
      the cold.

  >>Map
    ***
      This accesses the Map of the area that you are in. It will show you

On the console versions of "Mini Ninjas" you have six different characters
that you use to accomplish your goal of defeating the Evil Samurai Warlord.
On the NDS version, though, you only have three which I just explained. Here
are the remaining characters who will appear in various parts of the game:

  >>Tora
    ****
      Tora is a fast and small ninja who believes himself to be a tiger thus
      using the Tiger Claws as his weapon of choice. He is the game's version
      of the popular comic book character Wolverine.

  >>Kunoichi
    ********
      She is very agile and uses a Nagata Spear as her weapon. This makes her
      perfect against enemies with long weapons. She also has a bit of a
      crush on Hiro but he appears to be clueless to her feelings.

  >>Shun
    ****
      He wears camouflage and is considered the stealthiest of the entire
      group. His weapon of choice is the Bow because he is not very good at
      melee combat.

The Tengu are bird-like creatures who are friends to the ninjas. In Japanese
mythology they can be either good or bad but, in this game, they are clearly
the good guys. There are three different types that you will encounter during
the game:

  >>Normal
    ******
      These are the regular Tengu and have black feathers. In order to make
      them appear on your Map you have to talk to him first. They will appear
      as a blue dot on the Map.

  >>Mage
    ****
      These Tengu wear orange robes and have special properties:

        --Game Saving
          ===========
            You can save your game at any Tengu Mage that you encounter. You
            have three save slots to save your progress.

        --Teleportation
          =============
            After acquiring the Teleportation Spell then you can instantly go
            to any Tengu Mage that you have previously encountered. When you
            Teleport to a place then any Plants and Weapons that you have
            picked up previously will be regenerated. However, all enemies
            and Caged Animals will also be regenerated.

  >>Crafter
    *******
      These Tengu can make potions for you using the Plants that you find in
      your travels. They will appear as a lavender dot on the Map.

       <0+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+<<##0##>>+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+0>

Some of the Tengu have also been captured by the Samurai. There are a total
of fifty of them to free during the course of the game. They will be
represented in the guide by this:

     ======================================
  ++[Tengu #x - Type (Location - Mage Only)]++
     ======================================

If you free them all then you will be rewarded with the Tengu Strength Bonus
which will make you twice as powerful than you were before. Very handy
against the Evil Samurai Warlord. Any Tengu that you encounter that are not
caged do not count towards this. Any uncaged Tengu you encounter will be
represented in the guide like this:

When you fight an enemy you use the A Button to swing your weapon. You can
perform a charged unblockable attack by holding the A Button then releasing
it. To block an attack you use the R Button.

To use a ranged weapon you use the Y Button to throw it. You can aim by
holding down the Y Button and use the D-Pad to lock it onto an enemy or Lever
then release the button to throw. Use the Touch Screen to select the ranged
weapon you wish to use. You can replenish your ranged weapons by finding the
weapon boxes scattered in each area:

  >>Hiro
    ****
      --10x Shuriken: Star on side of the box.
      --3x Super Shuriken: Large X on the side of the box.
      --3x Bomb: Simple round bomb on the side of the box.

  >>Suzume
    ******
      --10x Dart: Simple dart on the side of the box.
      --3x Sleeping Dart: Dart with z's on the side of the box.
      --3x Smoke Bomb: Bomb with smoke on the side of the box.

Hiro has a special attack that he can earn, by reaching Level 5 Experience,
called the Jikoko Attack. Hold down both the X and A Buttons to enter this
mode which also uses some of his Ki. Use the D-Pad to lock onto as many
enemies as possible then release. This will cause Hiro to quickly fly from
enemy to enemy either defeating or severely damaging them.

However, if Hiro hits an obstacle or is shot by an arrow while in the air,
then he will be knocked out of this mode and return to normal. This attack
can also be used to traverse gaps and rooftops.

Hiro can also use certain Spells for combat and I will go over those later.

The Evil Samurai Warlord Ashida has an army to help him in his conquest. This
army consists of animals that have been twisted by Kuji Magic to do his
bidding. Defeating them will turn them back into animals. As you enter each
new chapter the enemies will get more difficult to defeat as they will take
more hits and block more often. Their uniform color will also change to
reflect this.

Unless otherwise noted it is best to use Futo for all melee combat since he
has the longest weapon and is the most powerful of your three characters.

Below are the various enemies that you will encounter:

  >>Samurai
    *******
      These are the standard foot soldiers and will use their Katana when
      attacking.

  >>Captain
    *******
      This is a larger version of the Samurai and will take more effort to
      defeat.

  >>Spears
    ******
      This is the single most annoying enemy in the game. These are Samurai
      that use a long spear that is twice as long as a Katana. They don't
      have to swing it at you to damage you - they can just run into you with
      it. Because they use a long weapon this also makes melee combat more
      difficult.

  >>Archers
    *******
      This is also another annoying enemy. They use the Bow from a distance
      and rain arrows on you. You can limit their damage by using the Ninja
      Hat. In addition, they will run when you get close to them because they
      can't do any melee fighting.

  >>Clubbers
    ********
      These are huge monstrosities with very large clubs. They can do a lot
      of damage to you if they hit you with it. If you get right up to one
      then it will smack you with its belly and gradually take off your
      Health.

      In the early stages of the game it is best to start with Hiro and use
      the Bomb and Super Shuriken to weaken it and then switch to Futo to
      finish it off (use of the Strange Brew Potion will also help). Later,
      start with Suzume and use the Sleeping Dart or Smoke Bomb to stun it
      then switch to Futo to finish it off. Use of the Fireball and Meteor
      Spells by Hiro can quickly defeat them.

  >>Ghosts
    ******
      These undead beings can't hurt you but will drain your Ki. The only way
      to defeat them is with the Exorcism Spell which only Hiro can use.

  >>Assassins
    *********
      These small enemies with pointy hats are quite dangerous. They like to
      get up close and jab you with their Knives.

  >>Monks
    *****
      These guys like to fly around and hit you from a distance with their
      energy balls. When you get close to him, or fire a weapon or Spell near
      him, then he will fly off. However, he will spin as he does so. If you
      continue to get close and make him fly for awhile then he will get
      dizzy and this will allow you to get in close for attacking.

The game is divided into six main chapters. Outside of the first chapter most
have three parts:

  >>Wilderness
    **********
      This area has plenty of Plants for use in Potions and usually contains
      a Village. Some of them may have rivers.

  >>Castle
    ******
      This is the main Castle area where you will find plenty of enemies and
      other challenges. With one exception you will not find any Plants in a
      Castle.

  >>Boss
    ****
     The last section of a chapter is the Boss. Each Boss requires a certain
     strategy to be successfully defeated so you can move onto the next
     chapter. It is important to note that you cannot use Spells against
     Bosses.

       --Afterboss
         =========
           When you defeat a Boss then you can return to that Castle later by
           Teleporting. The empty Castle will now have a new tenant which I
           call the Afterboss. They usually have a simple task that you can
           do for an item and Experience.

| >GEN9. The Plane of Spirits                                               |
 \=========================================================================/
            \=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=/

During your quest you will encounter blue clouds which are Spirit Portals.
Only Hiro can access them. When you Meditate near one then you enter what is
known as the Plane of Spirits. Here you will need to solve a puzzle using the
stylus to fully open the Portal and safely cross to the other side of the
obstacle.

There will be Spirits within the puzzle that will try to prevent you from
solving it. If they touch you then you fail and will be sent back out. You
use the Touch Screen to interact with this area and there are several tools
you use for this. Simply tap on one to use it:

  >>Brush
    *****
      When you start each of these puzzles you will be required to draw the
      background. This tool is used for this as well as draw any additional
      pieces as necessary which is usually indicated by dotted lines. If you
      mess up then there is an Eraser in the upper right corner you use to
      erase your mistake.

  >>Knife
    *****
      This is used to cut out an area of the background which is indicated
      with a light gray line.

  >>Wind
    ****
      Usually, when you cut out an piece of the background, then you will go
      into it and you will need to blow into the Microphone to move the paper
      to a safe area.

      However, on at least a couple of these puzzles, the game can be finicky
      in regards to the Microphone. You have to blow just right in order to
      move the paper. Most times you will just make yourself dizzy.

      But there is an alternative to blowing into your NDS. It's what I call
      Rubbing the Microphone. Place your thumb over the Microphone and
      rapidly move it back and forth. This somehow produces the right noise
      necessary to make the paper move.

  >>Hammer
    ******
      This tool destroys breakable Walls that often impede progress.

  >>Rotate
    ******
      In some of these puzzles large Mechanisms are employed. Activate this
      tool then use your stylus to rotate the circular part in a clockwise
      direction to get it move and shift the other parts of the Mechanism.
      Stopping the rotation will allow the Mechanism to return to its
      original position.

Once you have successfully completed the puzzle then the Spirit Portal will
be permanently open and you can go back and forth through it without having
to do the puzzle again.

There are a total of twenty of these puzzles but five of them are for battles
with the Elemental Spirits and I will explain how those go later.

      Ingredients: 10 Anemone, 6 Mountain Fire, 2 Sacred Lotus.
      Notes: This reduces the rate the Stamina used when running by half
             which effectively doubles it.

  >>Supreme Spirit

      Description: Permanently increases your Ki regeneration speed.
      Ingredients: 10 Anemone, 6 Tiger Lily, 2 Sacred Lotus.
      Notes: This will speed up Ki regeneration a little bit when Meditating.
             Although you may be able to acquire enough of the Sacred Lotus

One of the things that Hiro can do is cast Spells which is done with the Y
Button. They are used to access different areas, protect Hiro, and make it
easier to defeat enemies. He acquires Spells through the use of Kuji Altars.
In order to use them, though, he needs a Tengu Feather. These Feathers are
acquired either through Side-Quests or defeating Bosses.

Spells require Ki to use. The more powerful the Spell, the more Ki it
requires. The more Ki you have, the more you can use a particular Spell,
especially powerful ones.

You can access the Spell wheel by tapping the icon at the lower center part
of the Touch Screen.

The thing about using Spells is that it takes a few seconds for Hiro to
summon the power to use them before activating it. This may give nearby
enemies a chance to hit you before you can cast it thus preventing you from
using it. Worse, if they time their hits just right, they can stop the Spell
but you will still have used up the Ki necessary for it.

Listed below are all of the Spells:

  >>Possession
    **********
      Description: Take temporary control of an animal.
      Acquired: At Ninja Village.
      Feather Color: Black.

  >>Teleportation
    *************
      Description: Teleport to a Tengu Mage that you have already met.
      Acquired: By freeing the Earth Wilderness (Mountain Gorge) Tengu Mage.
      Feather Color: Orange.
      Notes: One of the more important Spells that you will use.

  >>Fireball
    ********
      Description: Launch a powerful fireball.
      Acquired: By defeating Lumbering Fool at the end of Chapter 2.
      Feather Color: Red.
      Notes: Doesn't have as much range as the Shuriken but can defeat most
             enemies in one hit. It doesn't take a lot of Ki to use either.

  >>Exorcism
    ********
      Description: This Spell is the only way to defeat Ghosts.
      Acquired: Given to you by the Village Elder at the Night Village within
                the Night Wilderness.
      Feather Color: Silver.
      Notes: There are not a lot of Ghosts to deal with so you won't be using
             this too much.

  >>Energy Shield
    *************
      Description: Create a shield of pure energy that protects against
                   attacks until Ki is reduced to zero.
      Acquired: By defeating Windy Pants at the end of Chapter 3.
      Feather Color: Blue.
      Notes: Unlike the Barkskin Potion this lasts as long as you have Ki.
             The more Ki you have, the longer you can make this last. The
             only downside is that only Hiro can use this Spell but it will
             protect him longer than Barkskin.

  >>Tornado
    *******
      Description: Launch a terrifying tornado that tears up everything in
                   its path.
      Acquired: By defeating Timid Swimmer at the end of Chapter 4.
      Feather Color: Green.
      Notes: Because of the random nature of its movements I find this to
             fairly inaccurate. But, when it hits an enemy, it will instantly
             defeat them.

  >>Kuji Disruptor
    **************
      Description: Unleash a ball of pure Kuji that burns all enemies in the
                   vicinity.
      Acquired: By defeating Screeching Owl at the end of Chapter 5.
      Feather Color: Purple.
      Notes: This is a powerful Spell but can be finicky at times. You have
             to be close to your enemies in order to use it. Sometimes you
             can use it and defeat all nearby and other times it won't touch
             them.

             This Spell doesn't work well against Archers because they are
             running away from you so they can get a better angle to shoot
             you. This means that most times they are out of range when you
             try to use it against them. This will weaken, but not instantly
             defeat, the stronger Clubbers in the second half of the game.

  >>Meteor
    ******
      Description: Creates a meteor with great destructive force.
      Acquired: From Toshimi in the Fire Wilderness.
      Feather Color: Golden.
      Notes: This is a Spell that will instantly defeat any enemy unlucky
             enough to be caught under the large rock when it drops down onto
             them. This is more powerful than the Kuji Disruptor but works
             only at a certain distance.

  >>Freeze Time
    ***********
      Description: A powerful Spell that stops time.
      Acquired: From Tamago at the Living Tower after defeating the seventh
                wave of his Samurai challenge.
      Feather Color: White.
      Notes: This is used to bypass certain obstacles and groups of enemies.
             The longer you stop time, the more Ki you use. The more Ki you
             have, the longer you can stop time. To restart time press the Y
             Button. It is important to note that you cannot hurt enemies or
             throw ranged weapons while the Spell is active.

  >>Forced Dance
    ************
      Description: Make the unfortunate victim dance. He is incapable of
                   doing anything else!
      Acquired: By completing the Doll Tengu Side-Quest near the end of the
                game.
      Feather Color: Brown.
      Notes: This Spell will make any nearby enemies dance uncontrollably for
             a very short time. Any enemies you attack will stop dancing.
             Considering how much effort it requires to get the Feather
             needed to acquire this Spell I find it to be surprisingly weak.

During the game you will meet many people. Some of them need your help with
certain tasks. This is considered a Side-Quest. When you have successfully
completed the task then you are rewarded with a certain amount of Experience
and sometimes an item. Some of these Side-Quests are more complicated than
others. It is not necessary to do any of them but some of them will give you
items that will make the game easier.

In this chapter I go over some of the things I will do and recommend:

  >>Each chapter header indicates how many Tengu there are to free in that
    area.

  >>I list the locations of Food and Weapons but not all of the Plants. I do
    list some of the more important ones for leveling up and powerful
    Potions.

  >>Even though there is no compass in this game I do use the north, south,
    east, and west directions on occasion. You can determine these directions
    by using the Map.

  >>I do go through all of the Side-Quests in this guide but I recommend
    skipping the Yuki and Doll Tengu Side-Quests because the reward, the
    Brown Tengu Feather which gives you the Forced Dance Spell, isn't worth
    the effort (in my opinion anyway).

  >>I also recommend spending time on leveling up yourself to help you in the
    second half of the game and I will cover that in the Snow Wilderness
    section.

  >>Recommended Side-Quests involve obtaining rare ingredients for Potions
    and all of the other Spells.

  >>Although I cover Side-Quests, Plane of Spirits, and Afterbosses within
    the guide I have also grouped them near the end in their own sections so
    they will be easier to find if you only need information on just them.

With that done, it is now time to move onto the main portion of the guide
starting with.....

Many years ago an evil Samurai warlord was defeated and the land returned to
peace. However, the castles abandoned at the end of his reign have been
re-occupied and the land begins to grow dark again. Animals start
disappearing and mysterious figures appear to cause destruction and chaos.

The Ninja Master observes all of this and sends out his best people to find
out who is at the center of the chaos. Unfortunately, they have never
returned. He sends out more and more and the results are the same. He is now
left with two young and unexperienced ninjas. The Master may have no choice
but send them too.....

Here you will be inside the Ninja Village. Head over to the Master's Dojo to
get things started. This whole chapter is mainly a tutorial to get you
started on the controls and other aspects of the game. When you go over to
the other side of the river to find Futo don't forget to explore that area
for Plants and Food.

When you set off the traps to defeat the Samurai then you will be given the
Ninja Hat and set off to start your adventure.

As you begin your quest you will walk into a Village. Talk to the Village
Elder in front of you. He talks about the Samurai who have taken control of a
nearby Bridge. Before going to the Bridge you should look around the Village.
You will find multiple Plants and Food.

  **NOTE: There are six Anemone, two Sage, two Blade Moss, and plenty of
          Burdock and Food here. This is useful for leveling yourself up
          later in the game.

Talking to most of the Villagers will provide some minor conversation. There
will be one in a barrel who will be important later in the game. One of the
other Villagers will have a symbol above his head which starts a Side-Quest:

  --Daisuke
    =======
      He is a herbalist in need. He is looking for some white flowers that
      are sensitive to elemental spirits. They grow in a cave near the
      Village. At the opposite end of the Village is a small cave where you
      will find three Kyushu flowers. Take them back to him and he will
      reward you with a Minor Healing Potion and Experience.

From here, head to the Bridge to find two Samurai. Switch to Futo and defeat
them which will cause two more to appear. Defeat them and four more will
appear. Defeat this group then return to the Elder. He will give you some
Experience and tell you of the Tengu Hermit. This will result in the
destruction of the barriers leading into the next area.

Head north past the barricade and you will find just up the path:

  ++Tengu - Normal [The Tengu Hermit]
    ---------------------------------

He needs his five Idols before he can tell you anything. They can all be
found in the open just up the pathway. As you grab them go into the small
bushes for Blueberries. When you return to him with the Idols then he will
tell you to warn the Village Elder and help your ninja friends.

  **NOTE: This particular Tengu will be useful later in a Side-Quest. In
          addition to the Blueberries there is also Spears of Ashida in this
          area that is part of the leveling up process later.

Continue north up the path and past the next barricade until you come up to a
large clearing known as the Bamboo Forest. Just as you enter the clearing you
will see a small grassy plateau to your left. Also off to your left is:

  ++Tengu - Mage (Bamboo Forest)
    ----------------------------

Not far him is a large house, several Samurai tents, and multiple Samurai.
Switch to Futo and defeat them all. Then find and free Tora. He will tell you
of a Villager that has taken his Ninja Claws. Go inside the nearby house and
talk to Kentaro. He has taken the claws for safekeeping. Take them from him
and return to Tora.

  **NOTE: There is a Book here that will be useful later in the game.

When you return to Tora then you need to switch to Futo and escort the both
of them, as Hiro, back to the Hermit. As you proceed you will be attacked by
multiple Samurai but they are not hard to deal with. In addition, if you move
too far ahead then Futo will stop.

One strategy is to simply run away from Futo, defeat all of the Samurai
between the camp and the Tengu Hermit, then run back to them and simply
follow them to the Hermit.

When Tora is safely with the Hermit then talk to him again for Experience. He
will stay and defend the Village and will also mark the Castle on the Map for
you. You can go and talk to the Elder if you want even though you get no
Experience from him.

As you go back to the Forest you can explore it to find Stone Caps by the
house, a box of 10x Shuriken by one of the tents, and some Nuts at the north
side of the area.

As you get near the end of the Forest you will have your first encounter with
the annoying Spears by the tunnel. There will be two of them. After defeating
them then proceed through the tunnel, where you will find some Spears of
Ashida, and into the next clearing which leads to the Mountain Path. Here you
will find:

  ++Tengu - Normal
    --------------

He will then tell you to help free his friends. From this point you will
start to encounter Caged Tengu. Proceed south down the path and you will find
three Samurai. Defeat them and free:

     ==================
  ++[Tengu #1 - Crafter]++
     ==================

Talking to the Crafter will give you a Sacred Lotus. You should use some of
the Burdock you collected to make a Minor Healing Potion with him. Near him
is a Caged Animal which you should free for Experience. Proceed down the path
to a large door that is protected by a Spirit Portal. It is guarded by three
Spears. Defeat them and free:

     =================
  ++[Tengu #2 - Normal]++
     =================

Destroy the Food Pots then go to the Spirit Portal for:

  >>Plane of Spirits #1
    *******************
      Draw the background then cut out the house to reveal a bridge. A Spirit
      will bounce up and down and you must draw the bridge in such a way to
      allow you to cross safely. Draw the bridge when the Spirit just gets up
      beyond the bridge.

After crossing to the other side then turn right to find a Caged Animal and
10x Shuriken (x3) near the main wall. Switch to Futo and head up the stairs.
As you reach the top then you will encounter two Samurai. After them then
head up the next set.

When you reach the top then you will be attacked by three Archers which
should appear to your left. Deal with all of them then explore the area for
Plants (there is some hard to find Shiitake plus Stone Caps here). Not far
from the top of the stairs is:

     ===============================
  ++[Tengu #3 - Mage (Mountain Path)]++
     ===============================

Switch back to Futo and proceed to the next door where you will find another
Spirit Portal. As you get close then you will be attacked by three Spears.
After defeating them proceed to the door. But, instead of switching to Hiro,
proceed south along the wall. You will then encounter two Spears and an
Archer. In the dead-end you will find a Caged Animal, a Tiger Lily, and:

     =================
  ++[Tengu #4 - Normal]++
     =================

From here, return to the Spirit Portal, switch to Hiro, and begin:

  >>Plane of Spirits #2
    *******************
      This is just like the first one except you have to do two bridges.

After you get to the other side of the door then turn right to find a Caged
Animal. Switch to Futo and proceed further down the path to encounter three
Samurai. After defeating them then go and free:

     =================
  ++[Tengu #5 - Normal]++
     =================

Continue further to encounter four Archers and two Samurai. After them you
will find a Caged Animal. Near it, in a nook, is 10x Shuriken and 3x Bomb.
Just before you get to the next door, and Spirit Portal, you will find:

     =================
  ++[Tengu #6 - Normal]++
     =================

Explore the area to find two Blade Moss at the waterfall and two Oyster
Mushroom at the other end near the door. Then switch back to Hiro and go to
the Spirit Portal:

  >>Plane of Spirits #3
    *******************
      This one requires you to draw the large Mechanism and Bridges. When you
      get to the left side of the Mechanism then turn the gear to lift up the
      left side. When you get past that then lift up on the stylus to let the
      Mechanism drop back so you can safely pass.

When you get to the other side then switch back to Futo. Follow the stream
north into Spirit Valley and you will encounter two Samurai and a Spear as
you proceed northeast. Near where you fight them you will find:

     =================
  ++[Tengu #7 - Normal]++
     =================

He will also give you a Yellow Orb which is used to open the nearby door. The
door requires three Orbs to open it and you only have one. Head back up the
stream and to a clearing with some trees. Here you will find:

  ++Tengu - Mage (Spirit Valley)
    ----------------------------

He will also thank you for freeing his friend by giving you a Green Orb.
Continue up the stream until you find a bridge and follow the path to another
Spirit. This is the Earth Spirit and he requires a Clay Flower in order for
you to pass. He will also give you the Red Orb.

  **NOTE: After acquiring the Red Orb then pick up every Plant in this area.
          This will be helpful later.

Now head back to the door and use the Orbs to open it. After opening it then
put on your Ninja Hat and proceed down the river until you reach a clearing
which will appear to your right. Not from from the riverbank is:

  ++Tengu - Normal
    --------------

He will also tell you about the Clay Flower. Proceed east to find the cove
where the Clay Flower is located. However, as you approach it, then you will
be attacked by three Samurai. Where the Samurai came from are some
Raspberries.

Climb the nearby ledge to find four Anemone. At the north side of this area
is a nook which contains a Caged Animal, Tiger Lilies, 10x Shuriken, and 3x
Bomb. However, there is a gap that must be jumped in order to reach them.

When you are finished exploring and acquiring the Clay Flower then re-enter
the river. When you reach the end of the river then you will encounter two
Spears and an Archer. Here you will find a Kuji Altar, Oyster Mushrooms, 10x
Shuriken, 3x Bomb, and:

     ================================
  ++[Tengu #8 - Mage (Mountain Gorge)]++
     ================================

He will also give you an Orange Tengu Feather so you can use the Kuji Altar
and get the Teleportation Spell so you can go back to Spirit Valley.

  **NOTE: One option is to go back to the Bamboo Forest and go back to Spirit
          Valley while re-fighting the enemies for additional Experience and
          acquiring additional Plants, especially the Shiitake, Stone Caps,
          and Burdock.

When you get back to the Valley then head back to the:

  >>Earth Spirit (Plane of Spirits #4)
    **********************************
      This one is different in that you must fight the Earth Spirit so you
      can pass. After drawing the symbol then you will meet the Elemental.
      Draw along the dotted lines to create a breakable Wall that will
      protect you. When the Elemental swings his sword then it will hit the
      Wall, destroying it, and bounce his weapon back in its face which will
      stun it for a short time.

      While he is stunned then you will see small Spirits appear around him.
      Tap them with the Hammer to make them disappear and reduce the
      Elemental's Health Line. When the he gets back up then redraw the Wall
      and repeat the process until the Elemental is defeated and you will be
      able to pass to the next area.

      All the fights with the other Elementals in the game go the same way.
      The only difference is that they will get up a bit faster thus drawing
      the battle out.

After defeating the Spirit then head west down the path to encounter three
Samurai and a Caged Animal. You will find another Caged Animal and an Oyster
Mushroom on a ledge just below you. Continue down the path to find a nook to
your left. Here you will encounter two more Samurai. Enter the nook to find
10x Shuriken (x3) and:

     =================
  ++[Tengu #9 - Normal]++
     =================

On a small plateau not far from the nook is an Archer. Continue north up the
path to find a large bridge where you will encounter two Samurai and an
Archer. Go to the other side of the bridge where you will find:

  ++Tengu - Mage (Castle Path)
    --------------------------

Continue along the path to find three Spears. By the wall to the right of the
entranceway is 3x Bomb. On the other side of the entranceway and beside it
are two Food Pots. To the left will be 3x Bomb and 10x Shuriken. Also just
beyond the entranceway is your first Clubber. Use your Bombs to soften him up
(pick up the nearby boxes to add more when you run low) then switch to Futo
and finish him off if you run out of Bombs.

You will then obtain a Green Orb which is used to open the door ahead and
into the next area (don't forget to pick up some of the Stone Caps just
before the door).

When you start then you will find three Samurai in front of you at a large
door. After defeating them you can go south and down a ramp to find 10x
Shuriken and 3x Bomb. Go north from the door and you will encounter two
Spears at the corner. Defeating them will spawn four additional Samurai.
Proceed west after defeating them and you will find a nook that you can use
to wall jump up.

After climbing up then you will drop down into the moat. There is a small
island in the moat that will have some 10x Shuriken and 3x Super Shuriken. At
the south end of the above bridge there is enough land to climb up and onto
it. When you get onto the bridge then you will encounter a Captain. Switch to
Futo and deal with him.

At the other end of the bridge are a trio of Spears. Go through the door
after defeating them to enter the Interior Courtyard and you will find
another pair of them by the ramp leading up to the front door. After
defeating them then head north. As you near the corner with the large bush
then you will be attacked by two Archers. Turn the corner and you will
encounter a Spear. Defeat him and free:

     =====================================
  ++[Tengu #10 - Mage (Interior Courtyard)]++
     =====================================

From here, head west towards the back end of the Castle. As you near the next
corner you will be attacked by three Archers and three Spears. Defeat them
and proceed to the back area to find:

     ==================
  ++[Tengu #11 - Normal]++
     ==================

He may also give you a Sacred Lotus for freeing him. After this then head
back to the ramp at the front of the castle but now head south. As you near
the next corner, with the large bushes, you will encounter three Samurai, two
Spears, and an Archer. Defeat them then head to the wall just to the east to
find:

     ===================
  ++[Tengu #12 - Crafter]++
     ===================

Now head west along the south side of the Castle. You will find an archery
area in the next corner and three Archers. You will also find 3x Bomb and 10x
Shuriken. From here, proceed to the back end of the castle to find a Captain
and two Samurai (plus a Food Pot in the corner). Near where you fight them
is:

     ==================
  ++[Tengu #13 - Normal]++
     ==================

After freeing him then head back to the front of the castle and head up the
ramp to the front door to find a Captain and two Spears (plus two Food Pots).
From here, head north and around the corner. After turning the corner you
will find a tall wall ahead of you.

Climb it then go along the side of the castle. Here you will have to jump
gaps to reach the other end. Some of them will have blades that will swipe
down and you must time your jumps carefully. When you reach the end then wall
jump the nook to climb up. A Spear will be waiting for you at the top (plus
10x Shuriken). After defeating him them jump the gap and proceed east where
you will find another Spear and a door.

The door leads inside the Castle. When you get inside then you will find
yourself on one of the upper levels. You will find beams plus a ramp that
leads up to a higher level. Most of the beams are blocked by a pillar. Those
that aren't have moving spikes that you must time your jumps over.

What makes this part annoying is the Camera and D-Pad. It is tricky to keep
straight on the beam, especially when trying to jump over the spikes.

If you want you can avoid dealing with the spikes and do an angled jump onto
a beam that is blocked by a pillar. However, if you miss and drop down to the
ground floor then you will encounter multiple Samurai including three that
will appear on the second floor by some Weapons (10x Shuriken and 3x Super
Shuriken).

There are some stairs in one corner that you can use to climb back up. It
should be noted that you will be injured if you fall to the ground floor from
the beams.

On the third floor in one corner is 3x Bomb and 10x Shuriken (in another
corner are two food Pots). When you make your way to the ramp then head up to
the next floor. Food Pots in one corner. On one end is a Spirit Portal which
leads to:

  >>Plane of Spirits #5
    *******************
      After drawing the environment then you must cut out a section of the
      background. When it falls then you will climb inside of it and you must
      Blow into or Rub the Microphone to make it move up and to the other
      side to safely cross. There is a Spirit that will move back and forth
      and you must time things to get past him.

When you get to the other side then you will find yourself on the roof above
the main entrance of the Castle. Head west to the back end to find a couple
of ramps that lead to the level above you. On the platform at the end of the
first ramp will be a trio of Archers (plus 3x Bomb and 10x Shuriken near
them).

If you happen to fall off the ramps or platforms during the battle then you
will encounter several Samurai including a Clubber on the area below (there
will be 10x Shuriken and 3x Super Shuriken in a corner plus a Food Pot).
Worse, after defeating them, you must go back down to ground level and
re-climb the entire way back. When you defeat the Archers and climb the
second ramp then you will find:

     ============================
  ++[Tengu #14 - Mage (Top Floor)]++

He will give you additional Experience for freeing all of his other friends.

This towering boss will roam around the Castle in his attempt to defeat you.
His weak spot is his head and you must climb up to the upper level in order
to get at it. In addition, you must use your Shurikens to damage his head.
Most of the time he will bend down and fire large swords from the barrel
attached on his back. You cannot hit his head when he is firing and your
Shurikens will bounce off of the barrel.

Use the pillars as cover until he starts to move towards you. When he does
then fire at his head. After several hits then he will fall stunned. This
will also open up a hatch in his chest that reveals a Green Orb that you must
damage to defeat him. Jump down and use your Katana to damage the Orb.

He will get up after a certain amount of time has passed or you take off
about a quarter of his health. Using the Strange Brew Potion doesn't really
work as all it will do is make him get up quicker instead of taking off more
health. Once he gets up then you must damage his head again to re-open the
hatch.

Shurikens will re-generate in the corners of the upper level, along with Food
Pots, to aid you. Keep stunning him and damaging the Orb until you finally
defeat Lumbering Fool. When you defeat him then you will be given a Red Tengu
Feather.

Samurai plus:

     =============================
  ++[Tengu #1 - Mage (Dark Forest)]++
     =============================

From here, head back out and turn right. As you near the center of the Forest
you will encounter two Spears. Turn right to go down another dead-end path
where you will encounter four Spears. You will also find 3x Super Shuriken
and 10x Shuriken plus:

     =================
  ++[Tengu #2 - Normal]++
     =================

From here, head back out and turn right to head towards the Possession area
and you will encounter two Spears and an Archer. However, it is best to
continue exploring this area for additional items, Plants, and Experience.

  **NOTE: There are three Anemones here and this is used for leveling up
          later. There are also three Raspberries by the small tunnel.

From here, head back towards the center and turn right. Turn right again to
enter a dead-end area to encounter four Samurai. You will also find a Caged
Animal, 10x Shuriken, and 3x Bomb. Head back out and turn right. As you
proceed down the path you will encounter three Archers. Continue down the
path and turn right to find:

  --Denisu
    ======
      He is afraid of the Samurai and can't help you until you get rid of all
      of them. Get rid of all of the Samurai for him. Head into the center of
      the forest to find three Samurai. Return to him to get a little bit of
      Experience.

From here, continue along the path. You will encounter four more Samurai.
When you get back to where you started then turn towards the Possession area.
Possess the small Fox and proceed through the tunnel to the other side. When
you get there you will meet up with Suzume who will now join the group.

Spend some time Meditating to regain your Ki and Stamina then proceed to
explore this area before entering the river. You will encounter two Samurai
and an Archer at the east part of this area. Near them you will find a Caged
Animal, some Nuts, and some Anemone. There are also additional Plants here
including Burdock.

Enter the river and pilot your Ninja Hat around the multiple rocks. Partway
down the river you will encounter some Archers on the shoreline but you can't
do anything to them so continue down the river. Eventually you will find a
clearing off to your right. When you get on shore you will encounter two
Spears, two Samurai, three Archers, and a Captain. After dealing with them
then head towards west wall to find:

     =================
  ++[Tengu #3 - Normal]++
     =================

He will also give you a letter to give to a friend. Near him you will find
Food, 10x Shuriken, and 10x Dart. Go to the middle of the beach to find

  --Miina
    =====
      She wants you to free a nearby Fox. She has picked up some Apples for
      it to eat. Go to the south end of the beach to find the Fox. Free it
      then return to her. She will mention that it didn't stay to eat the
      Apples so she gives them to you instead (2x Apples). You will get a lot
      of Experience as well.

After exploring this area, where you will find some Oyster Mushrooms, then
re-enter the river in your Ninja Hat. You will also encounter more Archers,
this time on a bridge. But just ignore them and continue down the river.

At the end of the river is a large lagoon called Dusk Isles which has several
small islands, some of them connected by bridges. The sandy islands are where
you can get some Watercress. One of them will have 10x Shuriken, 3x Super
Shuriken, and two Archers. Go to the center island and climb up to find:

  --Otto
    ====
      His wife made him sushi but a big Samurai has taken it. This Samurai, a
      Clubber, is on the island at the end of the bridge to the south. Use
      your Bombs to soften him up then use some of your Shurikens to soften
      him up further.

      Then switch to Futo and finish him off. You will be given the Sushi
      after you defeat him. Take it back to Otto to get some Experience. You
      have to face this Clubber or you won't be able to leave this area.

Continue from him up the north bridge to find:

     ============================
  ++[Tengu #4 - Mage (Dusk Isles)]++
     ============================

He is the friend that Tengu #3 mentioned and that the Letter was intended
for. You will get a Weak Ginseng Extract Potion and Experience.

  **NOTE: There is a trio of Anemones on the beach plus an Oyster Mushroom
          nearby that is used for leveling up later.

Continue along the bridge to encounter two Archers plus some Tiger Lilies.
At the end of the bridge is a Villager named Tsuma who is the wife of Otto
and is upset that he has eaten her sushi. You will get some Experience for
talking to her.

Proceed past Tsuma to find a gate plus 10x Shuriken and 10x Dart. When you
get close it will open for you. If you didn't defeat the Clubber first then
it will remain closed. Go down the tunnel, where you will find some Blade
Moss within, to find a small river.

However, stay to the left of it to find two Archers that you can defeat for
additional Experience. There is some Shiitake here plus drop off edge to find
more Shiitake plus 10x Shuriken and 10x Dart on the ledge below. Re-enter the
river and drop down into a lagoon. Go onto shore, where you will find an
Oyster Mushroom, and enter the tunnel to find:

  --Kikkawa
    =======
      He talks about the Ghosts in the Village and the Samurai. He can escape
      if you can defeat the Samurai. Go back to the shore you came from and
      defeat the three Archers there. Talk to Kikkawa again and he will give
      you 5x Sleeping Darts and Experience.

After talking to him then proceed forward until you reach the Night Village.
You will also start to encounter Ghosts. Go to the center to talk to the
Village Elder who will tell you of the Kuji Altar at the other side of the
Village and gives you a Silver Tengu Feather and a Green Orb.

At the west side of the Village is the bridge but it is destroyed. At the
northeast corner is the Night Spirit and the southeast corner is the Cemetery
but you can't get inside yet. At the north side is:

  ++Tengu - Mage (Night Village)
    ----------------------------

At the northwest corner is a gate that can be opened with the Green Orb. Go
through the gate and follow the path. You will have to jump some gaps along
the path. Most of the way along you will encounter two Archers.

Just after you get past them you will find a Lever on the wall that opens the
gate ahead. Switch to Futo and swing your Hammer to flip it then proceed
forward to fight the Captain ahead. After fighting him then go to the east
end of this area to find a Tiger Lily and:

     =================
  ++[Tengu #5 - Normal]++
     =================

Proceed through the nearby gate to encounter two Spears and a Captain. In
this area you will find a Blue Petal, 10x Shuriken and 3x Bomb on the bridge,
Blueberries in one of the bushes, and a Kuji Altar. At this point you will
have two Tengu Feathers - Red and Silver. Drop both of them to obtain the
Fireball and Exorcism Spells.

From here, then head back to the Village. When you reach the Village then use
the Exorcism Spell to get rid of the two Ghosts which will cause two more to
appear. Get rid of them and you will free the Village. Talk to the Village
Elder to get the Key to the Cemetery and Experience.

  **NOTE: There is a couple of Sage here in the Village which is used for
          leveling up later in the game.

Go through the gate to the Cemetery and when you get there then you will find
another Ghost. Get rid of it then talk to:

  --Aniki
    =====
      He has been dreaming about his brother for several nights. He went to
      his grave and saw his spirit. He wants your help in passing his brother
      to the other side.

      Go to one of the nearby Tombstones and you will be allowed to Speak.
      A Ghost will appear and you need to hit it with the Exorcism Spell to
      make it go away. Go back to Aniki and he will give you a Major Healing
      Potion and Experience.

In one corner of this area is a:

  ++Tengu - Crafter
    ---------------

Use him to build up some Minor and Major Healing Potions. After this then
head back to the Village. Explore the Village for additional Plants and you
will find 3x Bomb and 10x Shuriken behind one of the buildings. Head to the
northeast corner to find the Spirit Portal:

When you start this area then you will find a broken bridge with a Spirit
Portal. At the northwest corner of this area you will find two Archers. Use
your Fireball to get rid of them. Another one will appear and you should do
the same. Once all of the Archers are gone then wall run to where they just
where. In one of these nooks you will find:

     =================
  ++[Tengu #6 - Normal]++
     =================

This particular Tengu is often easy to miss because most people would rather
just avoid fighting the Archers. In another nook nearby you will find 10x
Shuriken (x2) and 10x Dart. After this then wall run back to where you
started. Because of how the walls are shaped you cannot wall run to the
opposite side of the bridge to avoid the Spirit Portal. Go to the Portal and
into:

  >>Plane of Spirits #7
    *******************
      After drawing the background then you have to cut out the center. This
      reveals two bridges connected by a center island. There is a Spirit
      that goes around the island in a clockwise pattern. Draw the second
      bridge first. Then draw the first one when the Spirit comes up and
      moves away from it.

After going to the other end of the bridge then you will find a door.
However, it is locked. Turn right and head south to find a Lever. Activate it
then go through the door. Switch to Futo and attack the Samurai that will
appear to your left. After that then turn right and head up the hill to find
two Spears and an Archer. Nearby where they appear is:

     ============================
  ++[Tengu #7 - Mage (Watchtower)]++
     ============================

Around this Watchtower you will find some Food Pots plus 3x Bomb and 10x
Dart. Head northwest away from the Watchtower until you reach the curve in
the path. You will find some bushes here and there is also someone within
them:

  --Jide
    ====
      He will give you a Ninja Doll in exchange for not telling anybody he is
      hiding. This Doll is useful for later.

As you are talking to him two Samurai will appear in the path ahead. After
dealing with them then proceed further to encounter two more Samurai. At the
end of this path is a Acid Pit area with several islands that you have to
jump to get to the other side. As you're jumping you also have to dodge Acid
Geysers. If you fall in then you will die.

When you get to the first island then stop and use your Fireball to take down
the Archer at the other side. When he is gone then two Spears will appear.
You may be able to get one of the two Spears from your position with the
Fireball. In one corner of this area is a Lever that opens the door ahead.
Use your Shuriken to activate it.

Jump to the second island and use your Fireball to get rid of the second
Spear. Then jump to the other end and then to a platform nearby to free a
Caged Animal. After jumping back to land then turn right and jump over the
nearby wall. Here you will find a Tengu and this will start the following:

  >>The Doll Tengu Side-Quest
    *************************
      This particular Tengu, which I will call the Doll Tengu, wants to
      collect all five of the Legendary Dolls. He has already found one and
      you have another, the Ninja. Collecting them all will unleash their
      power. Giving him the Ninja Doll will give you Experience plus three
      Minor Healing Potions.

      Giving him all of the Dolls will reward you with the Brown Tengu
      Feather which is used to acquire the Forced Dance Spell. At this point,
      after giving him the Ninja Doll, you have three left which can be
      acquired from the following people later in the game:

        --Yuki (Night Village) - The Villager Doll
        --Lozaki (Snow Castle) - The Tengu Doll
        --Tamago (Living Tower) - The Ninja Master Doll

      Of course, you will need to do additional tasks and Side-Quests to get
      the Dolls. You will also find 10x Shuriken (x2) and 10x Dart near the
      Doll Tengu.

After staring this Side-Quest then jump the wall and continue down the path
to the next door. Switch to Futo and enter. Here you will encounter five
Samurai and one Spear. There will be Food Pots near where you enter.

Go through the next door to find the Exterior Courtyard area. If you turn
left and proceed to the next door you will find it locked. The Lever is on an
upper level within the Courtyard. Hidden in the bushes near both doors are
Weapons (right of the door is 3x Super Shuriken, left of the door is 10x
Shuriken).

When you head inside the Courtyard you will be attacked by three Spears. At
this point Archers will appear on the rooftops. Switch to Hiro and put on
your Ninja Hat. Use the small building to jump onto the rooftops and deal
with the Archers using a combination of your Katana and Shurikens.

Jump from rooftop to rooftop, while dealing with the Archers, until you reach
the northeast corner where you will find a pair of Samurai on a lower
platform. You have to run and jump to reach this area. As you are fighting
them a third Samurai will appear. After defeating them then you will find the
Lever in the corner.

Activate the Lever then drop down to ground level. Head south and loop around
the south end of the large building. In a nook on the west side of this
building you will find:

     ====================================
  ++[Tengu #8 - Mage (Exterior Courtyard)]++
     ====================================

At this point you will be attacked by two Samurai and a Captain. Continue
north to find two Samurai and an Archer. As you get near the next door you
will encounter four Spears and a Samurai. Go through the door to find a
Samurai and a Captain. Near the door where you enter are a couple of Food
Pots.

Proceed through the next door to find three Spears. Here you will also find
Weapons hidden in the bushes (the left one has 3x Super Shuriken, the right
one has 10x Dart) and a couple of Caged Animals. Go through the next door and
head up the stairs to find three Samurai. You will also find a Food Pot plus
3x Bomb hidden in the bushes.

You will also find another Acid Pit area with several platforms and islands.
On one nearby platform you will find an Archer. Use your Fireball against him
then use your Shurikens on the other enemy on the far island in the
background. After dealing with them then drop down to a lower platform to
find:

     =================
  ++[Tengu #9 - Normal]++
     =================

Then jump back up and either jump the platforms or wall run to the second
half of this area. On the platform at the northwest corner of this area is a
Caged Animal. On the other end of this area are three Archers. Jump to the
large island and use your Fireballs and Shurikens to get rid of them. Jump to
the southwest corner to find:

     ===================
  ++[Tengu #10 - Crafter]++
     ===================

After this then head to the door at the end of this area to find a Spirit
Portal:

  >>Plane of Spirits #8
    *******************
      After you draw the background and Mechanism then you have to cut out
      part of the background. This will release a Spirit that will go to the
      top of the screen but slowly make its way down. You have to Blow into
      or Rub the Microphone to get the piece of paper to move into the gap in
      the middle of the Mechanism.

      For some reason this particular puzzle is very finicky in regards to
      Blowing into the Microphone. I spent a lot of time trying to make the
      paper move but the game would refuse to do what I wanted. Therefore it
      is best to Rub the Microphone for this puzzle.

      As the paper moves into postion then Rotate the wheel to lift the left
      side of the Mechanism before the Spirit moves down far enough to touch
      you. When the paper is in place then you will move inside. Lift the
      stylus to drop the Mechanism to allow for safe passage.

When you get to the other side then you will be inside the Interior
Courtyard. Here you will find two Captains and a Clubber. There will be
multiple Food Pots in the open and Weapons in the bushes (in the southwest
corner is 3x Smoke Bomb, in the northwest corner is 3x Bomb, and in the
southeast corner is 3x Super Shuriken).

Switch to Futo and go after the Captains while avoiding the Clubber. After
defeating the Captains then switch to Suzume, grab the Smoke Bombs, and use
one of them to stun the Clubber and switch to Futo to attack him. When the
Clubber gets up then use another Smoke Bomb and repeat until the Clubber is
defeated. When you defeat him then it will leave behind a Minor Healing
Potion. Near the next door, leading to the Boss for this area, is:

     =====================================
  ++[Tengu #11 - Mage (Interior Courtyard)]++
     =====================================

If you've done everything correctly up to this point then you should reach
Level 5 Experience and finally obtain the Jikoko Attack for Hiro. Save your
game here and face off against:

corner.

On occasion he will do a flying charge towards you that you have to dodge. If
you hit him enough times with his own clouds or he smacks into a wall when he
does a flying charge then he will be stunned and you can attack him up close.
Futo is best for this Boss.

After you take off about a quarter of his health then he will get up and you
must stun him again so you can attack him some more. Just like with Lumbering
Fool using the Strange Brew Potion won't work in shortening the fight.
Continue stunning and attacking until you defeat him. When you defeat him

  **NOTE: One of the Caged Tengu here does not count towards the Tengu
          Strength Bonus.

Talk to the Village Elder at the end of the bridge. He will tell you that the
Samurai has stolen the food supplies. He wants you to find the supplies and
distribute them to the Villagers. There are a total of five Villagers to feed
and twelve Sacks of Rice to find before you can proceed to the other side of
the area. Most of the Rice can be found in the rice fields not far from the
Village. The rest can be found at the Great Canyon. I will go there first.

Head east to find a path that is blocked off at the end. There are also two
large gates here that lead to both of the rice fields. But you will also find
a Chicken. You need to Possess it and go through the small tunnel to the
other side and to the Great Canyon.

When you get there and change back then you will be greeted by two Spears and
a Samurai. Head to the south end to find one Sack and back towards the middle
to find two more. Across from these two Sacks is the other end of the blocked
path where you will find 10x Shuriken and 10x Dart. Head to the north end of
this area to find two Spears and an Archer. There will also be a Caged Animal
and:

     ==============================
  ++[Tengu #1 - Mage (Great Canyon)]++
     ==============================

Head back to the south end and to the cliffside where the path ends. Go over
the edge to a ledge below. Then drop down into the water and swim to the
north end. Go up the shore and climb back up. As you do so you will find some
Blue Petals. About halfway you should see a tunnel you have to climb up into.
There will be a bush off to the right. A Sack of Rice is hidden in that bush.

After obtaining it then climb up into the tunnel, where you will find some
Oyster Mushrooms, and drop down onto the next ledge. Jump the gaps until you
reach the last ledge, picking up the Tiger Lilies along the way, then climb
back up to the path.

It should be pointed out that this is a one-way path. If you drop down onto
the ledge and jump the gaps to the tunnel you will find that you are not
allowed to climb up into it.

Now that I'm back up on the path there is something else I'm going to do
before going back to the Village. Go back to the Mage and Teleport back to
the Night Village. Go to the broken bridge to find a woman standing there.
Talk to her to start:

  >>The Yuki Side-Quest
    *******************
      Yuki is a woman who asks Hiro to help find her a husband. She is very
      shy and notes that Hiro has met many people. She wants him to introduce
      her to some men. There are five potential candidates to find in the
      game:

        --Yotaro (Earth Village)
        --Keiichi (Night Village)
        --Kasu (Water Wilderness)
        --Nyaki (Snow Wilderness)
        --Yamamoto (Fire Wilderness)

      However, you only need to find a minimum of three. When you have found
      at least three, if not all, of the candidates then return to her and
      she will choose which one of them to be her husband.

      After that then you have to go back to the fiance to tell him of the
      news then go back to Yuki to be rewarded with a bunch of Experience, a
      Major Healing Potion, and the Villager Doll which is used for the Doll
      Tengu Side-Quest.

      It is important to note that she may decide not to get married
      regardless of how many of the candidates you set up for her. You can
      still get the Villager Doll and a Minor Healing Potion by talking to
      Yuki and her parents who are standing nearby.

Now that I have set things up let's go to the first candidate which can be
found not too far from here. Head back towards the Kuji Altar on the opposite
side of the Village. You'll have to fight the two Archers and Captain again.
After fighting them off then head to the west side of this area to find:

  --Keiichi (Yuki Side-Quest Candidate #1)
    ======================================
      He can't stop thinking about Yuki and wants to write her a poem. He
      thinks that you can get some inspiration from a Book. Head back to the
      Night Village and to the Mage. Teleport to the Bamboo Forest (Earth
      Wilderness) and re-enter the nearby home of Kentaro. Go to him and
      there will be a table to his left. On it is a Book.

      Read it to get the Poem and Teleport back to the Night Village. Go back
      to Keiichi (and re-fight the two Archers and Captain again) and talk to
      him to set things up.

After finishing with him then head to the nearby Kuji Altar (and defeat the
two Spears and Captain there again). You have the Blue Tengu Feather you
obtained for defeating Windy Pants. So drop it here to get the Energy Shield
Spell.

Now that you have this Spell you have the option to use it to protect Hiro
and use him in melee combat instead of Futo despite not being as strong as
him. You can always back away from combat and Meditate to replenish your Ki
and therefore replenish your Shield.

After starting the Yuki Side-Quest and obtaining the Energy Shield Spell then
go back to the Night Village then Teleport back to Great Canyon (Water
Wilderness). Beware! The two Spears will re-appear on top of you as you walk
away from the Tengu. Quickly dispatch of them before they take off too much
health (unless you use your newly acquired Energy Shield Spell).

All of the other enemies that you fought before will re-appear as you near
the small tunnel back to the Village. Defeat them again before doing anything
else. Then Possess the Frog and go through the small tunnel again.

Now it is time to go into the rice fields for the remaining Sacks of Rice. To
start, go into the south field. Take the first Sack of Rice you see and
defeat the three Samurai you encounter. Just after you enter you should find
two more Sacks of Rice to your right. Proceed to the upper level of the field
to find a Captain and two Archers. You will also find:

     =================
  ++[Tengu #2 - Normal]++
     =================

You will also find a Sack of Rice and a Villager. Talk to the Villager to
give him a Sack of Rice.

Now head out of this field and go into the north field. Take the Sack of Rice
you find as you enter and deal with the two Samurai you encounter. After you
enter you should see another Sack to your right. Proceed to the upper level
where you will encounter a Samurai, two Archers, and a Captain. You will also
find some 3x Sleeping Dart and 3x Bomb, two Sacks of Rice, and two Villagers.
Grab the Sacks and talk to both Villagers to feed them.

Then head back to the Village and find the two other Villagers left to feed
before talking to the Elder. If you didn't grab the four Sacks of Rice at the
Great Canyon then he will request that you find them and won't open the
nearby gate, which leads to the other side of the area, until you get them.

But, since I went to the Great Canyon first, talking to him will finish with
this quest and he will open the gate so you can continue. Before leaving you
should explore the Village first for Plants (there are some Burdock and
Anemone here) and some Apples.

When you are done exploring then go through the gate and into a tunnel that
leads to a large circular cave (you will find some Spear of Ashida along the
way). At the top here you will find 3x Super Shuriken. The path winds down
along the side of the cave (you will find some Shiitake along the way). The
camera and D-Pad makes this part a little tricky because it is hard to see
what you are doing.

When you reach the bottom then you will find a path that leads to an
underground river (you'll also find some Stone Caps too). Navigate it and you
will find the:

  >>Water Spirit (Plane of Spirits #9)
    **********************************

After defeating the Water Spirit then proceed to the end and into the Portal.
You will find yourself in a cave that has some Spears of Ashida inside. This
cave leads into a larger circular cave similar to the one you were in
earlier.

However, you need to climb up this time. In addition, you will need to fight
off two Archers at the start. Use the Fireball Spell on them then climb the
path. As before, the camera and D-Pad makes this problematic. When you reach
the top then switch to Futo and go through the tunnel, where you will find
some Stone Caps, and into the wilderness.

As you leave the tunnel two Spears will appear to your left. After defeating
them then head southwest a bit to find two Caged Animals (Raccoons). Then
head to the north end of this area to find multiple Burdock, Raspberries, a
Kuji Altar, and a Tengu Crafter.

If you look at the Map you will see that you need to activate two Levers to
open the main Gate into the Castle. Head back to the path and just east of
the tunnel you will find:

  --Mayumi
    ======
      She wants you to free some Tanuki that the Samurai have captured. The
      Tanuki are the Raccoons you freed after defeating the Spears earlier.
      She will give you some Experience.

After Mayumi then head down the path to find two Samurai and a Captain
(you'll also find some Spears of Ashida and an Anemone too). Near them is a
Caged Animal. Continue down the path to find a river. Go into the river and
you will find a tunnel nearby. Go through this tunnel to enter an area
populated with tall square stone towers. You will also encounter two Spears
and a Captain as you proceed.

You will find the first Lever on the north side of the east end of this area.
You'll find some Spears of Ashida by the towers plus some Blade Moss in the
tunnel. At the very east end, by the edge, is:

  --Kasu (Yuki Side-Quest Candidate #2)
    ===================================
      He is jealous that one of his friends got married so he decides to get
      married too. Hiro tells him of Yuki and Kasu needs something simple and
      romantic to give to her. A bouquet of flowers may work in this
      instance. He wants you to find him a Tiger Lily to help make such a
      bouquet. Simply give him one of your Tiger Lilies to finish setting
      him up.

Near him is some 10x Shuriken and 10x Dart. Go back to the river or simply
drop down into the Sunken Village below. One of the sunken houses has some
Stone Caps. On another one of the houses at the west side of the area are two
Archers plus:

  ++Tengu - Mage (Sunken Village)
    -----------------------------

  **NOTE: This is the Caged Tengu that does not count towards the others.

From here, head to the island at the northeast corner of the Village. It has
a very tall tower. When you reach shore then you will encounter a Samurai and
a Captain. You will also find another Samurai behind the tower. You will also
find some Plants at the base including an Oyster Mushroom.

You need to climb the tower, starting at the southwest corner, and jump some
gaps as you proceed. Near the top is the last Lever to open the main Gate.
However, after activating the Lever, wall jump up the nearby nook to the very
top to find 3x Sleeping Dart, 3x Super Shuriken, some Oyster Mushrooms, and:

     =================
  ++[Tengu #3 - Normal]++
     =================

Drop down and head to the main Gate. Here you will find a Clubber. Switch to
Suzume and use either the Sleeping Dart or Smoke Bomb to stun it then switch
to Futo to damage him. Switch back when he gets up and repeat until you
defeat him. He will leave behind a Major Healing Potion. Then head up to the
Gate to enter the next area.

When you start you will be on the opposite side of the Gate. Drop down into
the water and swim to the north side of this area to find three Archers on
the shoreline. There are Food Pots situated in the nooks by the stairs.

On the next level above you will encounter two additional Archers and find 3x
Smoke Bomb, 10x Dart, and 10x Shuriken. On both of the paths that lead up
into the next room you will find two Spears and an Archer. When you enter
into the next room you will find a Captain and a Samurai.

After this then wall jump up the nook in the center of the room to reach the
top. Go out the window then turn right and go around the corner to find:

  ++Tengu - Mage (Outer Walls)
    --------------------------

On the opposite side you will find 10x Shuriken (x2), 10x Dart, plus a
Villager:

  --Nikku
    =====
      She will give you some 5x Super Shurikens for talking to her. When you
      free the last Tengu Mage in the Castle (Rusty Grate) then Teleport back
      to the Outer Walls and talk to her again and she will give you a Sacred
      Lotus.

Jump the gap between this side of the roof and the landing. There is a Gate
here but you can't go through it at this time. Head south to find a bridge
protected by rolling spiked logs. There are two on the bridge and two above.
You can easily time your jumps to avoid the logs.

When you are safely across then head north to the next door. As you get near
you will encounter two Spears. You will encounter two Samurai when you get
inside. A Captain will spawn further down after you get rid of the Samurai.
Continue down the hallway and you will find the doors leading into Timid
Swimmer's lair. However, you can't get the doors open yet as the center is
open and filled with poisonous water.

In this area you will find:

  ++Tengu - Mage (Heart of the Castle)
    ----------------------------------

You will also find a couple of Food Pots plus 10x Dart and 10x Shuriken here
as well. Proceed out the other side to find two Samurai and a Captain. In the
next room you will find a Clubber and two Archers on the upper level in the
center. There are also some 3x Bomb, 3x Smoke Bomb, and Food Pots on the
lower level here.

Go into the hallway on the other side. When you are in the hallway then you
will encounter three Samurai. You will also find a Prison Cell but you don't
have the key to open it yet. The Clubber in the large room has it. Continue
down the hall and turn right at the junction.

When you reach the Clubber then use Suzume to launch a Smoke Bomb to stun
them all and switch to Futo. Get rid of the two Archers first - even with the
Ninja Hat they will make quick work of you when the smoke dissipates if you
focus on the Clubber first. When the cloud dissipates then switch back to
Suzume to launch another Smoke Bomb and focus on the Clubber.

After defeating the Clubber then you will get the Prison Key and a Minor
Healing Potion. Go back into the hallway and continue straight to find two
Spears and an Archer. You will also find another Prison Cell but continue
ahead. Eventually you will find the gate that leads back outside near where
you started. You will also find two Spears and a Samurai you can defeat for
Experience if you want.

Go all the way back to the first Prison Cell to find:

     ==================
  ++[Tengu #4 - Crafter]++
     ==================

He will also give you a 2x Blue Petal. Go to the second Prison Cell to find:

  ++Tengu - Normal
    --------------

He will tell you that the others have escaped. There is also a Spirit Portal
here:

  >>Plane of Spirits #10
    ********************
      After drawing the background then you have to draw three breakable
      Walls and destroy them to gain safe passage.

When you get to the other side then you will be in a cave system. Head down
to a junction and you will encounter three Spears. Turn left at the junction
and head up the short way to find:

     =================
  ++[Tengu #5 - Normal]++
     =================

Head down the tunnel and you will find a Samurai and a Captain when you drop
down. Continue up the path and you will encounter your first Assassin. Futo
is best against these. At the end you will find some more Weapons plus
another Spirit Portal:

  >>Plane of Spirits #11
    ********************
      This is similar to the last one but you have to draw four breakable
      Walls. In addition, there is a Spirit near the end you have to dodge.
      Destroy the first three and wait until you reach the last one. Destroy
      the last one when the Spirit moves back upwards.

When you reach the other side then you will find:

     =================
  ++[Tengu #6 - Normal]++
     =================

and

     =================
  ++[Tengu #7 - Normal]++
     =================

When you leave the room you will find some Weapons just outside the door (3x
Super Shuriken, 3x Sleeping Dart) plus a Captain and two Archers. When you
get outside then turn left to find two Archers and an Assassin. Head south
towards the other end to find a Clubber and an Archer. Do the same thing to
this group as you did the other group in the Castle.

After defeating him then you will get a Minor Healing Potion. Nearby are some
Weapons (10x Shuriken, 10x Dart) and:

     =============================
  ++[Tengu #8 - Mage (Rusty Grate)]++
     =============================

By freeing all of the other Tengu he can then activate the nearby Grate.
After that then Teleport to the Heart of the Castle (although you should go
back to Nikku first to get a Sacred Lotus). You will notice that the center
of the room is now covered up and you can enter the lair for the next boss.
Talk to a nearby Villager named Kurisu first and he will give you some 5x
Bombs and Experience.

This boss stands on tall stilts and fills the lower half of the room with
poisonous water after drinking it from a trough at the other end of the room.
You need to drain the water, by activating the Grates, in order to reach the
other side. Then wall jump the nook and attack Timid Swimmer at the trough
while he is drinking. After you take off a quarter of his health then he will
back off and refill the room with water again.

Then you have to go along the side at the upper part of this room (which also
has Food Pots and 3x Sleeping Dart) and drop back down near where you start
to start the process of draining the room again.

When you first start there is a Grate to your left. Activating it, by hitting
it will fully drain the room. When he fills up the room again and you use the
same Grate again it will only drain partway. There will be another exposed
Grate nearby that you need to activate to fully drain the room. After
draining the room then go back and attack him. Each time he refills the room
you need to activate an extra Grate to empty the room.

Use Suzume to run around and activate the Grates and wall jump to Timid
Swimmer then switch to Futo to attack him. When you go after the third Grate
then you will have to jump from island to island to get there. Timid Swimmer
will also go near an unactivated Grate so he can swing his weapon at you as
you try to activate it. After defeating him then you will get the Green Tengu
Feather.

  **NOTE: You will not have your Ninja Hat for this chapter of the game. It
          becomes part of the Cape which will be made for you later.

When you start this chapter you will be given a Smoke Bomb. Behind the tent
is 10x Dart, 10x Shuriken, and some Fruit. As you head down you will
encounter a Samurai (plus several Anemone). Go down the path and take the
right branch to find another Samurai (and some Tiger Lilies in the
dead-end).

Take the left branch and, when you get down to the junction, you will find
another Samurai. If you go left from this point you will find some dead-end
paths including one where you will encounter two Samurai and an Assassin who
are guarding two Caged Animals. You'll also find some Burdock in one of the
dead-end areas.

When you go back to the junction, and if you go right, then you will find a
Blue Petal and a Villager, Dayamaka.

From the junction, continue south from here and you will find a small
elevation to your left which has a Wild Berry (you'll also find some Nuts
nearby). Grab the Wild Berry as you will need it for later. Continue down a
little more and you will be attacked by two Spears which will appear from a
path to your right. After defeating them then go onto this path to the end to
find:

     =================
  ++[Tengu #1 - Normal]++
     =================

Go back to the main path to find another Spear. Continue down the path and
you will reach a tunnel. Here you will encounter two Samurai and a Captain.
Go through the tunnel and you will reach a large open area with a huge
Samurai encampment.

In this camp you will find nine Samurai, two Spears, two Captains, and a
Clubber. Use the Sleeping Darts on the Clubber before switching to Futo. The
open area makes it easy to avoid its attacks. After defeating all enemies
then explore the camp to find 10x Shuriken, 10x Dart, 3x Bomb, 3x Super
Shuriken, 3x Sleeping Dart, and some Apples.

Also in this camp you will also find a Mortar and Cloth. There is also some
Wood just northeast of the camp. By the door northeast of the Wood you will
find a Tiger Lily and some Nuts. In the middle of this camp you will find a
caged person but leave him be for now.

In the northwest corner of this large area you will find two Samurai and a
Spear who are guarding a Caged Animal. At the north end of this area is a
cave. Enter it and turn right to find some Burdock. Go to the other end of
the cave to find:

  --Nyaki (Yuki Side-Quest Candidate #3)
    ====================================
      He is looking for a wife and you tell him of Yuki. He wants to make
      another flute because he broke his other one. He has heard of thousand
      year old wood that can be used to make excellent instruments. He wants
      you to bring him a chunk of this wood. This wood is found later in the
      Snowy Peaks area of this Wilderness. You have to speak to a special
      tree to get what you need.

        **NOTE: If you want to go with the minimum of three fiances for Yuki
                then skip this guy.

Head out of the cave and towards the west side to find a nook that you need
to wall jump. After wall jumping then you need to proceed up the way where
you will find some large gaps (you'll find some Sage here too). You need to
wall run to get past them. After you get past the second gap then you will
find a couple of Blue Petals. Proceed further to find Shun.

But you can't get past him. He warns of the bitter cold beyond this area. He
recommends a tailor who can help make you a warm coat for you. The tailor is
the caged person inside the camp. So now you need to go back down and free
him:

  --Kunitto
    =======
      If you have the Cloth then he will tell you that he needs some Needles
      and Dye. Just southwest of him, in a nook is Nideru. He can help but
      you need to have the Wood first. Give him the Wood you found earlier
      and he will make the Needles.

      For the Dye you need the Mortar and Wild Berry. You will also need to
      go back to Dayamaka in the forest. Go back into the forest and along
      the main path. When you reach the junction, near where you found the
      Wild Berry, then turn left and follow it to the end to find her. She
      will then give you the Blue Dye.

      Return to Kunitto and wait for awhile before you can go and get the
      Cape. He also warns that you can't use it in battle.

After this then go back to Shun. Just beyond him you will find a trio of
Anemone and:

  ++Tengu - Mage (Blizzard Path)
    ----------------------------

And, now that I've found this Mage, I am going to do the following:

  >>Leveling Up
    ***********
      At this point I am going to grind my characters up to Level 15
      Experience using the Afterbosses at the Water Castle plus the Anemone
      and Sage I have collected and will continue to collect. You don't
      really have to do this but it will be beneficial in that it will make
      the later chapters easier and you can skip a lot of the smaller
      Side-Quests.

      I'm taking advantage of the regeneration aspect of Teleporting and
      acquiring large amounts of Anemone and Sage. When I have acquired 99
      Anemone then I go back to the Water Castle and exchange them for
      Experience with Yoshiko and Akiko. Don't use the Shiitake - save them
      for the Supreme Ginseng later.

      You can get just a little more than one complete Level on each visit.
      At this point, if you've done everything right, you should be at Level
      8. So you would need to move up seven more Levels before maxing out.

      In addition to the Anemone and Sage I am also collecting additional
      Plants and Food to give me a healthy amount of most everything. All the
      little notes I have made in previous chapters will now come into play.

      Here's the order of things:

      From this Mage, Teleport back to Earth Wilderness (Bamboo Forest).
      Collect the nearby Stone Caps and head back down the path to the
      Village. Collect the Spears of Ashida and Blueberries along the way.
      When you get back to the Village then collect all of the Food, all six
      Anemone, both of the Sage, and both Blade Moss.

      After that then head back to the Mage and Teleport to the Night
      Wilderness (Dark Forest). Fight the Samurai and collect the three
      Anemone and all the Burdock. Use the Raspberries to heal from the
      fighting. Even though there are more Anemone beyond the small tunnel it
      is best to leave those alone. It's faster that way.

      Head back to the Mage and Teleport to the Night Wilderness (Dusk
      Isles). Grab the Oyster Mushroom nearby and go back down to the beach
      to grab the three Anemone.

      Go back to the Mage and Teleport to the Night Wilderness (Night
      Village). Grab the two Sage and the Burdock.

      Go back to the Mage and Teleport to the Snow Wilderness (Blizzard
      Path). Grab the three Anemone nearby, go back to the Mage, and repeat
      the entire process.

      When you have maxed out your Anemone then Teleport to the Water Castle
      (Heart of the Castle) and go to the Afterbosses to trade in your haul.
      Then continue collecting Anemone and Sage and trading them in until you
      reach Level 15.

      It takes a while to do this but it really isn't that bad. Use Suzume
      for her speed and switch to Futo when you need to fight.

There is also something else that needs to be done and it can be done while
leveling up if you're so inclined. Teleport to the Earth Wilderness (Bamboo
Forest) and go back to the Village. Just southeast of the bridge you will
find:

  --Yotaro (Yuki Side-Quest Candidate #4)
    =====================================
      He was the one that was hidden in the barrel earlier in the game. He is
      a bit of a coward and doesn't feel that Yuki would want him. However,
      he thinks that writing about great battles could sway her decision. To
      finish this book he wants you to tell him of three epic combats.

      These are the Boss Battles you have fought and you need to defeat Timid
      Swimmer before you can set up Yotaro.

        **NOTE: Since he is the third one you have set up you have the option
                of going back to Yuki to finish her Side-Quest or waiting
                until you have set up the last two before doing so.

When you have done leveling up and/or finishing up the Yuki Side-Quest then
Teleport back to the Snow Wilderness (Blizzard Path). Drop down into the
tunnel below which is on the other side of the door. On one side is a Portal
that leads to an upper area at the southwest corner of the camp. On the other
side of a gap is some Anemone.

Opposite of the Portal is a tunnel that leads outside. You will also notice
snow falling. When you see snow falling then put on the Cape as this
indicates a very cold area. If you don't put on the Cape then you will lose
Health. When the snow stops then take it off as you can't fight with it on.

After a short distance you will reach a long bridge. Take off the Cape when
you reach it. You will then encounter two Spears and a Captain. Head to the
other end of the bridge to fight two Spears then a Clubber. From here, you
should find a Spirit Portal:

  >>Plane of Spirits #12
    ********************
      After drawing the background you need to get past the house. There are
      two Spirits, one to each side. There are three breakable Walls, two
      that holds up the house and one before. Break the one on the left side
      of the house then the one before the house (before the first Spirit can
      come down and touch you).

      This will put you on the left part of the roof. When the second Spirit
      is at the top of the screen then quickly break the last Wall to
      catapult yourself off the right side of the screen to safety.

When you get to the other side you will still be on the bridge. Turn right to
find 3x Super Shuriken and 3x Bomb. Go down the bridge a bit to encounter two
Samurai and a Captain. After that then put on the Cape and continue. Snow
will fall just after the bridge. Follow the way into a larger area then take
off your Cape just when you get past the snowfall so you can fight off two
Samurai and a Captain.

Off to your left is a dead-end path that leads to a large door. At the start
of this path is a Caged Animal plus 10x Shuriken and 10x Dart. Head to the
door to find:

  ++Tengu - Crafter
    ---------------

You will also find some Burdock nearby. Go back to the main path and proceed
south. You will then encounter another group consisting of two Samurai and a
Captain who are guarding a Caged Animal. Continue forward to a cliffside that
you need to climb up. When you get to the top then you will find:

  --Sumi
    ====
      She wants you to go and free a Snow Monkey that the Samurai have
      captured. The Snow Monkey is located near the edge at the southeast
      corner of the Snowy Peaks area just ahead. Return to her after freeing
      the animal to get Experience plus 5x Nuts.

Continue up the path until you reach a large open area with a central peak
(Snowy Peaks). You will also encounter two Samurai and a Captain. Just to the
left, after you enter the area, is what appears to be a large tree that you
can actually speak to:

  --Tree
    ====
      By speaking to this special tree it will allow to take a Legendary Tree
      Root which is used by Nyaki back near the large Samurai Camp.

Near this special tree, and just ahead, is:

     =============================
  ++[Tengu #2 - Mage (Snowy Peaks)]++
     =============================

Go back to the Mage at the Blizzard Path and down to Nyaki to finish setting
him up for Yuki (if you wish to do so) then go back to the Mage and back to
Snowy Peaks.

Proceed a little further to the north side of this area and you will find a
Kuji Altar plus two Spears and an Assassin (and some Nuts on the ground).
When you are done with them then go to the south end of the area to find:

  --Tengu
    =====
     He wants to make a new necklace to replace one he lost when fleeing the
     Samurai. But he needs special stones infused with Kuji energy known as
     Spirit Stones. There are six of them.

     The hardest ones to find is the one to the east. Here you will find a
     brick wall. There will be a gap that has two Wild Mint Root. Go through
     this gap and you will drop down to a lower ledge. You will land on top
     of one of the Stones. Proceed along the ledge to find another Stone. Go
     to the end and climb back up.

       **NOTE: Near where you climb up is the Snow Monkey you need to free
               for Sumi.

     All of the other ones will be in the open including three near the Kuji
     Altar. He will give you a Sacred Lotus and some Experience for acquiring
     the Stones. You will also find some Stone Caps near him.

Before proceeding further you should head to the Kuji Altar and drop the
Green Tengu Feather you got from defeating Timid Swimmer to get the Tornado
Spell. When you reach the end of the Snowy Peaks area then put on your Cape.
Follow the way through the snowfall until you reach another area with a
central peak. Take off your Cape and go along the left path to find three
Samurai and:

     =================
  ++[Tengu #3 - Normal]++
     =================

Continue forward to find a wall that you can climb up. When you climb up you
will find an Ice Lotus. Follow the narrow path and you will intersect with
the path that goes along the right side of the peak. There is nothing really
special of note along the right path which is why it is best to simply go
along the left side instead.

Turn left and head up to another wall to climb. After climbing up then
proceed forward and turn right to find a narrow path (this is hard to see
because of how the camera behaves). Follow the way until you find:

  --Furosuto
    ========
      He needs an Ice Lotus to heal his frostbite. Give him the one you found
      and you will get some Experience and a Barkskin Potion.

You will also find plenty of Stone Caps near him. Turn around and head to end
of the path to find the Snow Spirit. He says that there are bad spirits
nearby and you need to get rid of them. Head back down to where you found the
Ice Lotus to find two Assassins and a Monk. Use Futo to quickly get rid of
them all then head back up to fight the Spirit:

  >>Snow Spirit (Plane of Spirits #13)
    **********************************

After being allowed to pass then you will enter a tunneled area, known as the
Icy Cave, which is at the northeast corner of the main map. This area is
inhabited with Ghosts so you need to use the Exorcism Spell here to get rid
of them although they are pretty easy to avoid.

In the middle round room of the Cave you will find:

  ++Tengu - Mage (Icy Cave)
    -----------------------

You will also find some Shiitake near him. There is nothing special of note
in the other two rooms but you will find some Blade Moss and Stone Caps in
the tunnels. Find your way through the Cave to the doors that lead to the
next area.

Head down the path just after you start to find three Samurai. Proceed
further down into a more open area to find three more of them. Eventually you
will get to a short tunnel leading to Snowy Pass. Just after it you will
encounter three Spears. Proceed to the north side of this area to find two
Spears and a Samurai. At the northeast side, in the trees, you will find:

  ++Tengu - Mage (Snowy Pass)
    -------------------------

Continue forward to find a small Samurai camp where you will find three
Samurai. You will also find some Food Pots plus 10x Shuriken and 10x Dart
against the rock wall on one side of the camp. Put on the Cape and continue
up the pass. You will then encounter snowfall. You will also find an Assassin
along the way but you will not be able to fight him so continue forward.

Take off the Cape when the snowfall stops and proceed up the narrow path to
encounter three Samurai and a Captain. When you get into a larger area then
you will find two Samurai and an Assassin. As you head further you will find
a large door that leads straight to the Castle (according to the Map). But it
is locked and you need to find another way (there are also some Food Pots to
the right of the door).

Turn left at the door and proceed forward to find:

  ++Tengu - Crafter
    ---------------

Next to the Crafter is a path that leads up. But, next to this path, is
another lower path that leads into a secluded area. Go into this area to
find:

  --Nagini
    ======
      She was looking for vegetables for dinner when the cold came. She is
      worried about her husband. He is Ikaru and you will find him in the
      Fire Wilderness. When you find him then he will give you a Major
      Healing Potion to give to her. When you return to her then she will
      take the Potion and give you Experience plus 2x Water Flute which is
      used for the Supreme Ginseng Potion.

Proceed up the path until you reach the Exterior Fortifications area and find
another large locked door. You will also encounter two Spears and a Captain.
East of the door is:

     =========================================
  ++[Tengu #4 - Mage (Exterior Fortifications)]++
     =========================================

Proceed forward and you will enter a large area with multiple bridges.
Interestingly enough there will be no enemies on them. Continue up the path
and you will find three Archers to your right and up. Just beyond them, and
by the large door, is:

     =================
  ++[Tengu #5 - Normal]++
     =================

You will also find that you can't open the door so he can escape. Of course,
you can't proceed further either. From here, head back to the bridge and jump
over the railing to land on the ice. It is frozen solid so you won't be hurt
when you land. At the east side of the ice you will find 10x Shuriken (x2)
and 3x Smoke Bomb.

At the southwest corner of this area is a secondary path that runs parallel
to the main one. Go up this path and, when you get near the bridge, you
should see a regular wall to your right. Within this wall is a nook that you
can wall jump up to the top (it is right where the wall and the rock meet).
Then walk along the wall and jump down behind the door so you can proceed
further into the area.

But there is a more rewarding way to get past the door.

Instead of wall jumping the nook, walk all the way to the edge at the end of
the path. Find where it becomes a V-shape and drop off the edge at that
point. You will then land on a lower area below (you will also lose a little
Health in the process). Near where you landed is:

  --Lozaki
    ======
      He tells of a Samurai that has the keys to the door leading to the
      bridge above. After talking to him them go back down and retrace your
      way back to the bridge area.

      When you get on the bridges then you will be attacked one by one with
      Spears. There are four in total. When you defeat them then you will get
      the Bridge Key. Head up the main path and open the door near Tengu #5.
      Then go all the way back to Lozaki. When you talk to him again then he
      will hand you the Tengu Doll which is used for the Doll Tengu
      Side-Quest.

When you get to the bridge, regardless of method, then then put on the Cape.
As you proceed on the bridge then you will see snowfall again. You may also
be attacked by an Assassin. If this is the case then go back near Tengu #5,
take off your Cape, and defeat it. Put your Cape back on and proceed. Take
off your Cape after you cross the bridge and go through the door to enter a
larger fortified area. Turn right past the wall to find:

     =================
  ++[Tengu #6 - Normal]++
     =================

Proceed west to find a large campfire plus two Samurai and a Monk. There will
also be Food Pots to either side of the locked door at the end of this area.
In one corner, not far from where you did battle, is another Spirit:

  >>Plane of Spirits #14
    ********************
      This is one of the trickier ones. After drawing the background then you
      need to draw the right breakable Wall. This will prevent you from
      getting hit by the Spirit on the right side. Then destroy the two
      larger Walls.

      When you get up against the right Wall then draw the left Wall. Cut out
      the paper on the left side to let out another Spirit. The Wall you just
      drew prevents you from getting hit by the new Spirit. Destroy the left
      Wall when the Spirit gets up to the top of the screen. You will then
      get into the piece of paper.

      Blow into or Rub the Microphone when the Spirit gets to the top of the
      screen again to move to the upper right side of the screen and safe
      passage.

When you get to the other side then you will be on the upper level of this
fortified area. Turn right to find:

  ++Tengu - Mage (Interior Fortifications)
    --------------------------------------

From the Mage, turn around and follow along the side to find a Captain. After
dealing with him proceed to a corner near a locked door to find 10x Shuriken
and 10x Dart. There is nothing in the lower area and the door down below is
locked.

You need to jump the rooftops to get over the next wall. From the upper level
jump onto the first house and defeat the Spear there. Then jump to the second
house and defeat the Spear there.

  **BEWARE!: There is a glitch where, if you walk on the correct part of the
             roof (which I believe is the northwest corner near where you
             land), then you will fall through and be trapped in the house.
             You will have to restart from a saved position or restart the
             whole level over.

When you get safely to the second roof then head to the end and drop down on
the opposite side of the wall. Here you will encounter a Samurai and a Monk.
After that then proceed forward. You should also see a large tower to your
left. On one side of this tower is 3x Super Shuriken, 3x Smoke Bomb, and 10x
Dart. Not far from here is a large house. In front of it is:

  --Atsui
    =====
      He doesn't like the cold and wants to be somewhere warmer. His brother,
      Samui, is in a place that is warmer. He can be found in the Fire
      Wilderness later in the game.

      Talk to him then Teleport back to Atsui and they will agree to change
      places. Then Teleport back and talk to the both of them again after
      they switch. When you meet up with him at the Fire Wilderness then
      Atsui will give you some Experience plus a Strange Brew Potion for your
      efforts.

After this encounter then put on your Cape again. Proceed forward through the
snowfall until it stops. After it stops then you will encounter two Assassins
and a Captain. Proceed through the tunnel to reach the area in front of the
castle known as the Tower Gates.

As you exit the tunnel then you will be attacked by two Spears. Turn right to
find three Samurai and a Captain. After this group then you will be attacked
by a Samurai, a Captain, an Assassin, and a Monk. Use a Smoke Bomb then
switch to Futo to defeat the Monk first and Assassin second before dealing
with the rest.

When you defeat this group then a Clubber will appear. Switch to Hiro and use
the Fireball Spell against him from a distance. When you defeat him then you
will get a Major Healing Potion. Head to the north end of this area to find
3x Bomb and 10x Shuriken. To the right of the castle door is 3x Bomb, 3x
Sleeping Dart, and 3x Super Shuriken. To the left of the door you will find
some Food Pots and:

     =============================
  ++[Tengu #7 - Mage (Tower Gates)]++
     =============================

After that then enter the door to face:

This boss is a bit tougher than the previous ones. He will fly to one of
eight perches (four on the lower level and four on the upper level). When he
stops at a perch then he will launch energy balls at you. You need to hit him
with either a Shuriken or Dart. There are regenrating Shurikens on the upper
level that you have to wall jump up the nooks to get if you need them.

However, you are not lined up with him when he lands so you need to aim at
him. Unfortunately, aiming at him gives him a chance to hit you and prevent
you from shooting at him. After several energy balls have been fired at you
then he will fly to another perch. You have to hit him with a ranged weapon
to force him back to the main platform so you can damage him - hitting him
with the Shuriken/Dart will not hurt him.

When you start then head to the perch closest to the main platform since that
is where he is heading first. Because he flies slow you can aim at where he
is going to land before he gets there. The moment he lands then let go of the
X Button to launch a Shuriken before he can fire. If you miss then he will
keep you from firing back by interrupting your aim (and taking off your
Health) with the energy balls he fires.

If you hit him then he will return to the main platform where you can damage
him. Run there and switch to Futo as you can damage him more quickly with
him. Unlike the other bosses you can use the Strange Brew Potion and do
additional damage to him.

After some time has passed then he will recover and fly back to one of the
close perches. Get there before he does and aim where he is going to land.
You should still be under the influence of the Strange Brew Potion. If you
hit him again with the Shuriken then he will fly back to the main platform.
Run back there before he lands, switch to Futo, and drink another Strange
Brew Potion. Attack him again until he recovers and flies off.

This time, however, he is going to fly to one of the further perches. Run
there, aim at where he is going to land, then fire a Shuriken when he lands.
Instead of going back to the main platform he will head to another perch. You
have to hit him there before he will go back to the main platform.

You have to hit him at two straight perches. If you hit him at the first but
fail to hit him at the second and he flies off then you must restart the
process when he lands at the next perch (wherever that may be).

If you've done everything correctly up to this point then he should only have
a very small amount of Health left. When he lands back at the main platform
then quickly finish him off (you won't need another Strange Brew Potion).
After defeating him then you will get a Purple Tengu Feather.

  >>Kage

      He has a challenge for you - you need to find him five times in a row
      in order to complete it. Each time you find him you have fifteen
      seconds to find him again. He can be found at any of the eight perches
      and the main platform.

      This is a very annoying challenge. The combination of the clunky
      camera, tight time limit, and wall jumping makes this very difficult. I
      was not able to complete this challenge but Enalia was able to.
      According to her you only get a little bit of Experience for your
      efforts. Because you get so little for your trouble I highly recommend
      never coming back to this Castle after defeating Screeching Owl.

When you start this chapter you will be given a Smoke Bomb (there will also
be some Burdock to your right from your starting position). From here, head
forward through the gate into the Frozen Chasm. When you go through the gate
and look left you will find:

  ++Tengu - Mage (Frozen Chasm)
    ---------------------------

And on the opposite side of this area is a:

  ++Tengu - Crafter
    ---------------

On the bridge ahead is a Spear and an Archer. Proceed to the middle of the
bridge to find:

  --Hasu
    ====
      He was chased by the Samurai and ended up at his current position. He
      needs to cross the bridge but is afraid to do so. Switch to Futo so you
      can pick him up. Follow them to the end of the bridge. Talk to him
      again and he will reward you with Experience plus 2x Hermit's Cap which
      is used for the Supreme Health Potion.

Go to the nearby Tengu Crafter to make the Potion and use it to gain a Big
Heart. Then head all the way to the end of the bridge area to find some more
Burdock and a Spirit Portal:

  >>Plane of Spirits #15
    ********************
      After drawing the background then you need to quickly draw the
      breakable Wall above the right side of the Mechanism. Then quickly
      destroy the left Wall and the one under the left side of the Mechanism
      before the nearby Spirit touches you. Cut out the area in the middle
      and tap the Hammer three times on the last Wall.

      You need to time things just right to get past the second Spirit. When
      he is on the ground then wait for him to start moving up before tapping
      the Wall one last time to destroy it which will lift the right side of
      the Mechanism. If you do things right then the Spirit will come down
      just as you safely get out of frame.

When you get to the other side of the Portal then you will be in the Fire
Wilderness itself (there will also be some Shiitake to your right and left
after you appear on the other side). You will now start to go down a long
bridge that leads to the lower level of the Wilderness.

While you are going down you will encounter Archers. The angle of the path
will make it easier for them to hit you regardless of the use of the Ninja
Hat. So, even though Futo is the stronger character, it is best to use Hiro
and the Energy Shield for this part.

As you reach the first corner you will encounter an Archer and two Spears.
When you get to the next section of bridge you will encounter another group
of two Spears and an Archer. As you continue down you will be attacked by a
group of three Archers. As you proceed down don't forget to pick up the Stone
Caps and Spears of Ashida that you find.

On the next section of bridge you will encounter a pair of Archers and
another group consisting of three Samurai and an Archer (two of the Samurai
will appear on the bridge after you get to the lower section). In one corner
near the door you will find a Villager named Usagi who will give you a
Barkskin Potion. Not far from him is a Spirit Portal:

  >>Plane of Spirits #16

      After drawing the background then you will need to draw the last
      remaining Wall in the Mechanism. Destroy the left Wall then the one
      above the left side of the Mechanism then the left Wall in the center.
      Move the Mechanism to get against the remaining Wall.

      Let the Mechanism drop and tap the Wall three times with the Hammer.
      The moment the second Spirit moves up then tap the Wall one last time
      to destroy it and safely move forward.

When you get to the other side then you will find yourself in the Volcano
Crater area with a lava pit. You need to jump the islands to get to the other
side. Falling into the lava won't kill you instantly but will quickly drain
your Health (unless you use the Energy Shield Spell). When you get to the
other side then turn left and go along the path. As it widens then turn right
to find:

  --Leeli
    =====
      She wants you to go free a cat. Turn back around and go back the way
      you came. However, continue along the path and you will find a small
      lava stream cutting across. Jump it and continue to find two Archers
      who are positioned across a large gap.

      You can either wall run at them or use the Jikoko Attack to jump
      across. Free the cat and wall run back. Then return to her and she will
      reward you with Experience plus 2x Blue Petal.

Near her you will also start to find the Mountain Fire mushroom. From Leeli,
continue along the path and you will encounter two Spears. Defeating them
will spawn two Archers including one on the opposite side of a lava gap. Jump
the gap while dodging the lava geysers and defeat the second Archer.

When he is gone then two more Archers will appear. Jump the next gap and two
more Archers will spawn plus a Captain. Continue down the way and you will
encounter three Samurai. Continue forward and the area will open up. You will
also find a small lava pool in the center. Around this pool, and beyond, are
three Archers, two Samurai, and an Assassin (plus multiple Mountain Fires).

After defeating them all then return to the small lava pool. In a nook, just
to the south of the pool, is:

  --Yamamoto (Yuki Side-Quest Candidate #5)
    =======================================
      He feels that Yuki will go for him simply because he is the best
      looking boy in the village. Unlike the other candidates you don't have
      to do anything for him - simply talking to him will be enough to set
      him up.

Now head back up the path, where you will find some Spears of Ashida, and
jump the lava gap. You'll see another Spirit Portal but I'm not going to go
here yet. Turn left to find three Food Pots, some more Mountain Fire, plus:

     ================================
  ++[Tengu #1 - Mage (Volcano Crater)]++
     ================================

  >>Finishing the Yuki Side-Quest
    *****************************
      After finding Yamamoto it is time to finish this. Teleport back to the
      Night Village, talk to Yuki, and she will tell you that she needs time
      to decide who she wants. While she is doing that then go to the Tengu
      Crafter in the Cemetery for more potions and go back to the Kuji Altar
      (re-fighting all of the enemies there again) and drop the Purple Tengu
      Feather to get the Kuji Disruptor Spell.

      Then return to Yuki to get her decision and go to the fiance (if she
      chooses one) then return to the Village. Then talk to Yuki again to get
      your reward.

Then Teleport back to the Volcano Crater and to the Portal for:

  >>Plane of Spirits #17
    ********************
      After drawing the background then you need to draw bridges similar to
      what you did earlier in the game.

When you get to the other side then immediately switch to Futo as you will be
attacked by an Assassin. After defeating him then turn the camera so you can
see a large bridge in the background. Then look left to find a lavafall. Go
behind this lavafall and forward until you find:

     =================
  ++[Tengu #2 - Normal]++
     =================

This particular Tengu is easy to miss. Continue forward from where you
teleported to find two Spears. After that you will find three Archers
including two that will appear far from you. Not far from the first Archer is
a wall jump gap (with a Mountain Fire nearby).

For extra Experience you can go after the remaining two Archers and then to a
group of two Samurai and a Monk near the bridge. You will also notice Food
Pots at the base of the bridge pillars (there will also be Weapons on the
opposite side) but it is not worth the trouble of acquiring.

Go back to the wall gap and jump up. When you get to the top then turn right
and head towards the bridge. As you get near it you will find a path to your
left (and near some Mountain Fire). You will also find three Samurai along
with some more Mountain Fire and Stone Caps.

Beyond them is a gate that leads into a cave. Inside are two Ghosts, some
Mountain Fire, Stone Caps, and Blade Moss, and a Kuji Altar. Get rid of the
Ghosts then return to the bridge to find two Spears and an Archer. When you
get to the other end then turn left. Near the wall you will find:

  --Toshimi
    =======
      He is concerned about the Samurai at the Kuji Altar. He wants you to
      get the spell from there before they acquire it. He will give you a
      Golden Tengu Feather. Go back to the Kuji Altar and drop it there to
      get the Meteor Spell then return to him. Talk to him twice to get
      Experience plus a Sacred Lotus.

Now turn around and head west. You will encounter two Samurai which will
spawn a third when you defeat them. Beyond that is a gap with a small island
in the middle. There is also an Archer on the other side. Use your Shurikens
on him and you will spawn another one plus a Captain. Use your Fireball on
the Archer then jump the gap. Defeat the Captain then head to the crack in
the wall for:

  >>Plane of Spirits #18
    ********************
      After drawing the background then you need to draw the breakable Walls
      and destroy them before the Spirit can get to you.

When you get to the other side then look towards the lava. Going right from
this point will lead you to a small ledge where you will find 10x Dart.

Head in the opposite direction and jump the gap. Beyond it is a drop and an
angled rock bridge that leads to a ramp to another section. Here you will
find a wall nook. But, before climbing it, turn to the right and drop off the
ledge. Here you will find a:

  ++Tengu - Mage (Lavafall)
    -----------------------

In addition, he will give you a Minor Healing Potion.

Teleport back to the Volcano Carter and re-fight all of the enemies to return
to this wall nook (or you can use the Energy Shield Spell and hop the lava
back to the angled rock bridge from the Lavafall Mage). After climbing the
wall nook then turn left. You will find two Archers across the next gap.
After defeating them then jump the next gap to find:

  --Samui
    =====
      He is the brother of Atsui (Snow Wilderness). Because you met Atsui
      earlier he will ask you to ask him if he can come over there for
      awhile. Instead they will trade places and you must travel back and
      forth between them to finish this Side-Quest. When you meet him back at
      the Snow Castle to complete his story then he will reward you with some
      Experience and a Barkskin Potion.

Turn around and jump the two gaps again. Continue forward to encounter two
Samurai. Jump the next gap and just off to your right is:

  --Gosu
    ====
      He burned himself trying to escape. He needs a special plant to soothe
      his wounds. That would be the Fire Lotus. It can be found in a large
      cavern just ahead. Return to him with it and you will get some
      Experience and a Strong Ginseng Extract Potion.

Proceed past him and into the tunnel. You will then encounter a Monk. Beyond
him is a pair of large abutments. You will find a couple of Samurai here.
After that is another pair of large abutments where you will encounter an
Assassin. Another pair of abutments are beyond that but there are Food Pots
behind them.

Beyond this point is a wall with a small hole. Free one of the Caged Animals
and Possess one of them to go through the hole. When you get through then
return to Hiro. You will be in a larger cavern. In this cavern is an upper
area which should be to your right. The only way to get up here is to do a
Jikoko Attack on the three Archers shooting down at you.

When you get up here then head back near the wall and Meditate to regain your
Ki after defeating the three Archers. There will be a Samurai camp up here as
well. Inside the camp are two Spears and a Clubber. As Hiro, use your Energy
Shield Spell and defeat the Clubber (he will drop a Major Healing Potion) and
Spears. In the center of the camp is:

     =================
  ++[Tengu #3 - Normal]++
     =================

Around the tents are 3x Bomb, 10x Shuriken, and 3x Super Shuriken. On one
side of the area is:

  --Ikaru
    =====
      He somehow got trapped here and he believes that his wife will be angry
      at him for being late to dinner. He is the husband of Nagini who you
      encountered in the Snow Wilderness. He will give you a Major Healing
      Potion to give to her. Return to her to get your reward when you find
      the next Tengu Mage.

On the other side of this area is a Spirit:

  >>Plane of Spirits #19
    ********************
      After drawing the background then you need to destroy the breakable
      Walls for safe passage. However, it takes three hits to destroy instead
      of four. Destroy the first two and tap the last one twice. When the
      second Spirit starts moving up then tap it again to destroy it and gain
      safe passage.

When you get to the other side you will be on an upper level above a section
of tunnel near the end of the level. Here you will find the Fire Lotus. Go
back through the Portal then drop down behind the wall so you can go back to
Gosu. After being rewarded then go back to the wall, free the second Caged
Animal and Possess it to return to the other side.

Here on the lower level you will find a tent with some 10x Shuriken and 10x
Dart nearby. Also at this camp you will find

  --Fuu
    ===
      She has made herself some mushroom soup but it is now all gone. If you
      can get her some more ingredients she can make more. She needs a Minor
      Healing Potion, a Weak Ginseng Extract Potion, and a mushroom (which I
      believe is a Stone Cap). It will take awhile before it is ready. When
      you finally get some soup then you will be rewarded with Experience and
      a Strange Brew Potion.

After this then proceed forward to the other end of the cavern and into a
tunnel. Go through this tunnel to enter another large cavern, this time with
a huge lava pit. Proceed along the path to encounter three Archers. Continue
through to the next tunnel to encounter two Spears and a Captain. Proceed to
the end of the tunnel to enter the Volcanic Vent area and find a wall of
flame. In front of it is the:

  >>Fire Spirit (Plane of Spirits #20)
    **********************************

However, after defeating him, he still won't let you pass. You still need to
activate three Levers at the lavafalls ahead to prove your worth. As you get
near them then you will be attacked by two Samurai which will spawn an
Assassin when you defeat them. Proceed up the ramp to the upper level.

Here you will find a Monk. After defeating him then you will face another
Monk and a Captain. Use the Kuji Disruptor on them. After that then activate
the three Levers. One is on ground level but you still need to fire a
Shuriken to trigger it. The other two are at the walls at the edge of the
cavern. After activating the three Levers then head back down to the lower
level.

However, instead of going back to the Fire Spirit, head right to find a nook
where you will also find:

     ===============================
  ++[Tengu #4 - Mage (Volcanic Vent)]++
     ===============================

But, before going back to the Fire Spirit, I'm going to complete the
Nagini/Ikaru and Atsui/Samui Side-Quests. Teleport back to the Snow Castle
(Exterior Fortifications) and head down to Nagini. After acquiring the Water
Flute then head to the nearby Tengu Crafter to make the Supreme Ginseng
Potion and drink to to permanently increase your Ki. Also make a Supreme
Stamina Potion and drink it (this slows down the decrease of your stamina).

Head back to the Mage and Teleport to the Tower Gates. Of course, you have to
refight all of the enemies here but you will get more Experience in doing so.
When you get to Atsui then you need to go back to the Mage and Teleport to
Volcanic Crater and make your way back to Samui.

After talking to him then go back and drop down to the Mage at Lavafall and
Teleport back to Tower Gates (and refight the enemies there again). After
talking to Samui and finishing up with him then head back and Teleport back
to the Volcanic Crater. Fight your way to Atsui and talk to him to finish him
up. Either drop back down to the Mage at Lavafall and Teleport to Volcanic
Vent or fight your way there to gain extra Experience.

When you get back to the Fire Spirit then you have to fight him again. After
that then you can pass into the next section.

                                                               0=+=+=+=+=0

Here you need to fight a boss known as the Living Tower. You have a large
Catapult and you need to move large Rocks to it. You have to use Futo since
he is the only one strong enough to move the Rocks. Put on your Ninja Hat
too.

Either go left or right along the edge of the area to get a Rock. The House
will sweep the area with a bridge that it has acquired as a weapon. But there
is a bit of a nook that you can use to avoid its attack. When you get a Rock
then take it back to the Catapult. When you do then you will attack and hit
the house. It will then start to shoot arrows down at you.

Just continue acquiring Rocks and shooting at the house with them until you
defeat it. Run to and wait in a nook until it sweeps then run to grab a Rock
then run back. After this then head across the bridge and enter through the
door into the Fire Castle then turn around and head back out. Turn to your
left to find:

  >>Tamago
    ******
      Unlike the other Afterbosses, in which it was optional to interact with
      them, you have no choice but to talk to him since he has an important
      item that you need for the next area (that being the White Tengu
      Feather). You will also get a Doll for the Doll Tengu if you complete
      the entire challenge.

      He has a challenge for you in that he wants you to destroy eight waves
      of Samurai. The last Samurai of each wave will have a flag. He'll
      reward you when you are done with a wave. Each wave will get harder. If
      you run away (basically talking to him again after the wave has
      started) then you will have to refight the wave again.

      Go onto the bridge to start the wave. After you successfully the wave
      then return to him.

      The thing to note is that the enemies stand still until you get close
      enough to them. The best strategy is to use the Meteor Spell from a
      distance to crush them then use the Fireball Spell against the last
      Samurai. After talking to Tamago to get your reward then enter/exit the
      Fire Castle to immediately restore Health and Ki and talk to him again
      to start the next wave.

      On the eighth wave you need to talk to him twice to get things started.
      After destroying the initial group then turn around to find an Assassin
      near the Fire Castle entrance. Simply stay put and use the Fireball
      Spell on him then turn around and nail the last Samurai with the Spell
      to complete the wave.

      With each wave you will get Experience plus the following items:

        --Wave 1 - Minor Healing Potion.
        --Wave 2 - Weak Ginseng Extract Potion.
        --Wave 3 - Barkskin Potion.
        --Wave 4 - Major Healing Potion.
        --Wave 5 - Strong Ginseng Extract Potion.
        --Wave 6 - 2x Sacred Lotus.
        --Wave 7 - White Tengu Feather.
        --Wave 8 - Ninja Master Doll.

After finishing with Tamago then head into the Castle:

In order to reach Ashida you must activate the three main Levers, one in
each section of the Castle. Proceed north from the door to enter a round
central area known as the Lava Pit. Head off to the west to find:

     ==========================
  ++[Tengu #5 - Mage (Lava Pit)]++
     ==========================

  >>Finishing the Doll Tengu Side-Quest
    ***********************************
      Before proceeding through the Castle I'm going to finish this off and
      acquire the remaining Spells.

      First, Teleport back to Night Castle (Watchtower) and re-fight the
      enemies back to the Doll Tengu. When you get to him then talk to him
      and give him the three Dolls in your possession. In return you will get
      Experience plus one Major Healing Potion, two Strange Brew Potions, two
      Barkskin Potions, and a Sacred Lotus.

      However, you're not done with him. He talks about a sixth Doll which is
      in the hands of a Tengu Hermit (which is the Hermit near the Earth
      Village). After talking to the Doll Tengu then head to the Mage for the
      Exterior Courtyard and Teleport to Earth Wilderness (Bamboo Forest).
      Then head back down to the Tengu Hermit. He will give you the last
      Doll, Ashida.

      Go back to the Doll Tengu and you will finally get the Brown Tengu
      Feather. Then head back to the Exterior Courtyard and use the Mage
      there to Teleport back to Earth Wilderness (Mountain Gorge).

      Fight off the easy enemies there and use the Kuji Altar to get the last
      two spells: Freeze Time and Forced Dance. Then use the Mage again to
      Teleport back to the Fire Castle (Lava Pit). At this point you should
      have finished off all of the Side-Quests in the game.

When you get back to the Fire Castle then look at the Map. The section off to
the right is the area before Ashida's Antechamber but the door is closed and
you must activate the three Levers hidden in each section of the castle to
open it. And you have to go through them in order. The first door is south of
the Mage.

When you go through the door you will enter a room with three moving spiked
blocks. Use the Time Freeze Spell to stop them so you can get past them. When
you get to the next room then switch to Futo and fight off ten Samurai and a
Monk. There are three Food Pots in a corner of this room.

The next room will split off into two paths that meet at the other side. On
one side there are three moving spiked blocks and on the other side two. You
have to use the Time Freeze Spell when they are not in line or you can't
cross. When you get into the next area of this maze you will encounter two
Spears and an Archer. Proceed further to encounter another group of two
Spears and an Archer.

You will also find a pair of moving spiked blocks. Time the Time Freeze Spell
so they are not in line. After them is another group of two Spears and an
Archer. In a dead-end not from from the blocks you will find two Caged
Animals. In the next section you will find 3x Bomb and 3x Super Shuriken in a
small dead-end.

In the larger room you will find one of the three Levers. You will also find
one Samurai but you will end up fighting off about ten of them before you are
free of them. On one side you will find three Food Pots and on the other side
you will find:

     ==================
  ++[Tengu #6 - Crafter]++
     ==================

After flipping the Lever then a Clubber will appear from the small dead-end
nearby. Use the Meteor Spell when situated around a corner. There are no more
enemies in this section of the Castle so all you have to do is use the Time
Freeze Spell on the blocks to get out.

  >>Alternate Strategy
    ******************
      Another way to do this section of the Castle is to use the Time Freeze
      Spell and head all the way to the Lever Room without stopping (unless
      the two blocks halfway through are in the way). If they are in the way
      then stop in the dead-end corner nearby, replenish your Ki through
      Meditation, then go out and use the Spell again on the blocks to gain
      passage.

      Fight off the Samurai and Clubber (you may have to use a Strong Ginseng
      Potion to quickly replenish your Ki first so you can use the Meteor
      Spell) then use the Time Freeze Spell again and head back to the Lava
      Pit without stopping.

When you return to the Lava Pit then head to the next door which is north of
the Mage. When you enter you will encounter three Samurai, two Spears, and
five Archers. When you finish fighting them you will find yourself in a large
room with four platforms you must jump to get to the other side.

In one corner of this room are three Food Pots. On the east side of this room
is a Caged Animal, 10x Shuriken, and 10x Dart. When you get to the L-shaped
hallway beyond the pit you will encounter three Archers.

In the next room you will find another pit with platforms. However, two of
the main platforms have retractible spikes. Wait for the spikes to retract
before jumping to the platform across from you then quickly get onto the
narrow walkway. Then turn around and wait for all of the spikes to retract
before using the Time Freeze Spell to get to the platform on the other side
so you can free:

     =================
  ++[Tengu #7 - Normal]++
     =================

There is also 3x Sleeping Dart here. Use the Time Freeze Spell again to get
back to the other side and fight off the three Samurai, two Spears, and an
Archer.

In the next hallway you will find a small pit and you have to wall run to get
across. However, each wall has three blades that rotate in and out. You have
to use the Time Freeze Spell when the blades are fully inside the wall. If
even a sliver of them are out then you will die when you wall run. The next
section of hallway is even worse than this one as the blades are faster and
their timing are more evenly spaced.

However, you don't have to wait for all of the blades to be inside the wall -
you can have some of them out as long as a straight path is clear to the
other side. When you get to the other side you will find a couple of moving
spiked blocks on bridges. If you look to your right you will find a Lever.

But, this is not the main Lever - it opens the gate at the other end of this
area where the main Lever is. Use a Shuriken to activate it from here. You
can't use these bridges so you need to wall run to a platform in one corner
of this room where you will find a Caged Animal. Then you need to wall run
again to get to the other side but this is a little trickier because you
don't have much room.

When you get to the other side you will find a gate into the next room which
has the main Lever. In the Lever Room you will find two Samurai and a
Captain. Activate the Lever and leave. Wait for the block nearest you to be
at the far end then use the Time Freeze Spell so it will stop when it is
close to you.

Then jump over the pit to get behind this block and run to where the first
Lever is. Then wall run back to the other side of this room and get out of
Time Freeze. Meditate then use the Time Freeze Spell again to get past the
blades in both sections of the hallway. Then make your way back out to the
Lava Pit.

  >>Alternate Strategy
    ******************
      Just before you enter this section then use the Time Freeze Spell and
      make your way to the Caged Tengu before de-activating it to avoid some
      combat. Fight off the Samurai as you head to the Lever. When you get
      back near the Tengu then re-activate Time Freeze and make your way back
      to the Lava Pit to avoid additional combat.

When you get back to the Pit then go through the last door into the next
section of the Castle. Head down the hall and fight off two Spears and seven
Archers. At the end of the hall are three Food Pots. There is also a door
near them but it is locked. You need to flip Levers in the other rooms in
this section.

Head back to the first door at the other end. In this room is a Caged Animal
and three Food Pots in addition to the Lever. Use a Shuriken to flip it. Head
back to the last room where you will encounter a Captain and two Assassins.
In one corner of the room you will find:

     =================
  ++[Tengu #8 - Normal]++
     =================

In another corner you will find a Lever that opens one of the other rooms
(there will also be a 3x Smoke Bomb near the Lever). After flipping the Lever
then head to the second room. You will find another lava pit with the last
Lever on the other side along with 10x Shuriken and 10x Dart. Use a Shuriken
to flip the Lever.

Now head to the third room to find three Spears. In this room is a Caged
Animal and three Food Pots. However, when you free the animal, Possess it and
head through the small hole at the end of the room. On the other side you
will find:

     ======================
  ++[Tengu #9 - Mage (Cell)]++
     ======================

There is also another Caged Animal you can use to get back to the other side
but you can also use the Mage to Teleport back to the Lava Pit.

From here, head to the chamber to the east. When you get into the hallway
then you will be attacked by a trio of Samurai. Defeating them will spawn
another trio of Samurai a little further in the hallway. When you get into
the chamber then you will encounter two Spears and four Archers.

Get back into the hallway and take care of the Spears then, as Hiro, jump the
gap where three of the Archers are and quickly defeat them. Use the Food Pots
to regain any health lost. Jump the gap and take care of the last Archer.
Proceed along the north side of the room and defeat the two Samurai and
Assassin.

Then a pair of Assassins and Monk will appear. Use the Kuji Disruptor on the
Assassins then on the Monk when you get close enough. You need to be careful
at this point near the door since the bridges are very narrow and you can
easily fall off them. At the south end of the chamber is the last Tengu:

     ====================================
  ++[Tengu #10 - Mage (Ashida's Anteroom)]++
     ====================================

And with that you will finally get the Tengu Strength Bonus and the door will
open allowing you to go after Ashida. If you do not get the Bonus then you
missed a Tengu and you can use this Mage to go back through the other areas
to find the ones you didn't find.

      Instead of fighting all of the enemies here you can activate the Time
      Freeze Spell just outside this section then simply run all the way to
      the Caged Tengu without any interference.

Before facing Ashida you should have a full compliment of Minor and Major
Healing as well as Strange Brew Potions plus 99 Darts and Shuriken. Then head
forward to face off against.....

| General Overview \
0===============================================>

  His power comes from the large Pearls that sit at each pillar in the room.
  You cannot destroy them - only he can. The way to get him to do that is to
  fire either a Dart or Shuriken at him. When it hits him then he will charge
  it up and throw it back at you. However, it will home in on you. Thus you
  need to put a Pearl between you and him after you fire. When the charged
  weapon hits the Pearl then it will be destroyed.

  Ashida will be protected by an Energy Shield which makes him invulnerable
  to melee attacks. If you go right up to him then he will chase you and hit
  you. But he won't stray from his throne area. As you are trying to destroy
  the Pearls he will unleash an occasional electrical attack but it will only
  hit you if you are up close to him.

  When you destroy all of the Pearls then Ashida will be stunned and you can
  go up and attack him. After a certain amount of time has passed then he
  will get up and you must destroy the Pearls again to get another chance to
  attack him.

  When you drain enough of his health then he will change form but it doesn't
  make him more aggressive. In addition to his attacks Ashida will also
  generate a pair of Samurai to make things difficult for you. If you defeat
  them then Ashida will turn the animals back into Samurai. The more you
  drain Ashida's health, the tougher the Samurai will become.

  The game will generate boxes of Shuriken in each corner of the room but
  will not generate any boxes of Darts.

| Strategy \
0===============================================>

  Use Suzume to start. Do *NOT* attack the Samurai - since Ashida will
  turn them back there is no point in doing so. Use her speed to go to one
  side of the room to avoid them. Fire a Dart at him then duck behind a Pearl
  so he can destroy it. Run to other side of room to avoid the slow moving
  Samurai and repeat.

  The instant you destroy the last Pearl then immediately run up to Ashida,
  quickly switch to Futo, and drink a Strange Brew Potion. Futo is the
  strongest person, the Tengu Strength Bonus makes him much stronger, and the
  Strange Brew Potion multiplies that by three.

  Attack him as quickly as possible and you can defeat him before he gets
  back up. He will change form while you are attacking but he will still be
  stunned. After defeating him then watch the cutscene that completes the
  game.

In this section I summarize all of the Side-Quests in the game:

0=================0
| Earth Wilderness \
0=======================================================>

  >>Daisuke
    *******
      Notes: He needs some white flowers that happen to be growing in a
             nearby cave.
      Reward: Some Experience and a Minor Healing Potion.

  >>Yotaro
    ******
      Notes: In the early part of the game he was hidden in a barrel. After
             the activation of the Yuki Side-Quest he can be found in another
             area of the Village. He is one of the candidates for Yuki's
             fiance. In order to set him up with her you need to tell him of
             three great battles. You need to defeat Timid Swimmer before you
             can finish with him.

0=================0
| Night Wilderness \
0=======================================================>

  >>Denisu
    ******
      Notes: He is afraid of the Samurai and can't help you until you get rid
             of all of the nearby Samurai.
      Reward: Some Experience.

  >>Miina
    *****
      Notes: She wants you to free a nearby Fox.
      Reward: Some Experience plus 2x Apples.

  >>Otto
    ****
      Notes: His wife made him sushi but a Clubber has taken it. You need to
             defeat him not only to get the Sushi but to leave the area.
      Reward: Some Experience.

  >>Kikkawa
    *******
      Notes: He needs you to defeat some nearby Samurai so he can escape.
      Reward: Some Experience plus 5x Sleeping Darts.

  >>Yuki
    ****
      Notes: This is one of the major Side-Quests in the game. She wants you
             to introduce her to some men so she can decide on a fiance to
             marry. There are five potential candidates to find:

                --Yotaro (Earth Village)
                --Keiichi (Night Village)
                --Kasu (Water Wilderness)
                --Nyaki (Snow Wilderness)
                --Yamamoto (Fire Wilderness)

             However, you only need to find and set up three of them. In
             addition, she may decide not to marry. You will still be
             rewarded if that happens.
      Reward: A lot of Experience and The Villager Doll from her plus a Major
              Healing Potion (if she marries) or a Minor Healing Potion (if
              she doesn't) from her nearby father.

  >>Keiichi
    *******
      Notes: As just pointed out he is one of the potential candidates for
             Yuki's fiance. He wants to write her a poem to sway her. You
             need to go to Kentaro's house in the Earth Wilderness to find a
             Book that you can use to help him. Talk to him after readin the
             Book to set him up.

  >>Aniki
    *****
      Notes: He needs your help in sending his dead brother to the other
             side.
      Reward: Some Experience and a Major Healing Potion.

  >>The Doll Tengu
    **************
      Notes: This is another of the major Side-Quests within the game. This
             particular Tengu wants to collect all five of the Legendary
             Dolls:

In this section I list all of the Plane of Spirits encounters in the game:

  >>Elemental Spirit Fights (#4, #6, #9, #13, #20)
    **********************************************
      In each major area of the game you will need to fight an Elemental
      Spirit (Earth, Night, Water, Snow, and Fire). After drawing the main
      symbol you will then need to draw the breakable Wall to protect
      yourself. When the Elemental swings his sword then it will hit the
      Wall, destroying it and bouncing the weapon back in its face which will
      stun it.

      While he is stunned then rapidly tap the small Spirits to make them
      disappear and reduce the Elemental's Health Line. When it gets back up
      then redraw the Wall until the Elemental is defeated. In the case of
      the Fire Spirit you will have to defeat it twice.

  >>Plane of Spirits #2
    *******************
      This is just like the first one except you have to do two bridges.

| Night Castle \
0=======================================================>

  >>Plane of Spirits #10
    ********************
      After drawing the background then you have to draw three breakable
      Walls and destroy them to gain safe passage.

| Snow Wilderness \
0=======================================================>

| Snow Castle \
0=======================================================>

  >>Plane of Spirits #14
    ********************
      This is one of the trickier ones. After drawing the background then you
      need to draw the right breakable Wall. This will prevent you from
      getting hit by the Spirit on the right side. Then destroy the two
      larger Walls.

      When you get up against the right Wall then draw the left Wall. Cut out
      the paper on the left side to let out another Spirit. The Wall you just
      drew prevents you from getting hit by the new Spirit. Destroy the left
      Wall when the Spirit gets up to the top of the screen. You will then
      get into the piece of paper.

      Blow into or Rub the Microphone when the Spirit gets to the top of the
      screen again to move to the upper right side of the screen and safe
      passage.

| Fire Wilderness \
0=======================================================>

  >>Plane of Spirits #16
    ********************
      After drawing the background then you will need to draw the last
      remaining Wall in the Mechanism. Destroy the left Wall then the one
      above the left side of the Mechanism then the left Wall in the center.
      Move the Mechanism to get against the remaining Wall.

      Let the Mechanism drop and tap the Wall three times with the Hammer.
      The moment the second Spirit moves up then tap the Wall one last time
      to destroy it and safely move forward.

  >>Plane of Spirits #17
    ********************
      After drawing the background then you need to draw bridges similar to
      what you did earlier in the game.

  >>Plane of Spirits #18
    ********************
      After drawing the background then you need to draw the breakable Walls
      and destroy them before the Spirit can get to you.

0+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=0=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+0

In this section I list the five Afterbosses that you can meet after defeating
each major Boss:

  >>Bado the Beastmaster (Earth Castle)
    ***********************************
      He wants you to rescue the Caged Animals. If you rescue most, if not
      all, of them then return to him and he will reward you with a random
      item plus Experience. You can only be rewarded once.

  >>Kake (Night Castle)
    *******************
      He will place four Food Pots in each corner of the area and wants you
      to guess which Pot is the one he has chosen. If you are correct then
      you will get a Major Healing Potion and Experience. If you wish to try
      again then leave the Castle and re-enter.

  >>Yoshiko, Akiko, and Keiko (Water Castle)
    ****************************************
      Yoshiko, who can be found to the left of the door, wants Sage. Talk to
      her a second time to give her three Sage. You will get a Minor Healing
      Potion and Experience.

      Akiko, who can be found to the right of the door, wants Shiitake. Talk
      to her again to give her three Shiitake. You will get a Weak Ginseng
      Extract Potion and Experience.

      Keiko, at the top of the stairs at the end of the room, wants Anemone.
      Talk to her a second time and give her three Anemone. You will get 5x
      Smoke Bomb and Experience.

      You can go back and give as much of each item to them as you want.

  >>Kage (Snow Castle)
    ******************
      He has a challenge for you - you need to find him five times in a row
      in order to complete it. Each time you find him you have fifteen
      seconds to find him again. He can be found at any of the eight perches
      and the main platform.

      This is an annoying challenge because of the controls, camera, and
      tight time limits. The small reward isn't worth the hassle.

  >>Tamago (Living Tower)
    *********************
      He has a challenge for you in that he wants you to destroy eight waves
      of Samurai. The last Samurai of each wave will have a flag. He'll
      reward you when you are done with a wave. You will get some Experience
      and an item for each wave completed. He will possess a White Tengu
      Feather for the Time Freeze Spell and the Ninja Master Doll for the
      Doll Tengu.

  And, with that, this finally completes the guide and leads to the last
  section.....
