Is it when you offer him help? If so then see if your relationship is in the red or green. If it's in the red then you can get back in the green by giving him a gift (he likes eggs--they can be found in the area right before his camp) or you can just talk.

This happend to me also...you will have to give him gifts...eggs and any mushrooms (except red ones) will work. You have to get his bar into the green before you can talk to him with out laughing at him.(which laughing at him makes his bar go down into the red) I found this out the hard way.
