Fisherman?

I am confused on how to find the fisherman who tells me the specific route through the fog from North to south. I've searched everywhere and nothing. Please could somebody help me.

His secret cave is on an island(dont know wich one though...)west of his house you will have to dig in front of a tree.there is a map with the route...
