Orb Thingys
I forget the real name, but the orb things that you can collect (20 in total if I'm correct) you can bring it to an island to get an upgrade for your sword and shield. I have 18 power. If I were to bring it to the island and get the 10-upgrade, will 10 of my power orb things disappear or just stay in my collection?

The answer is no. Yes, your sword will be powered up, but no, you will not lose them, you will just need to collect two more gems and you will get both upgrades. All in all, the gems will stay in your pack.
