Fishing

Yes you can do the fishing game and it is also part of a side quest since you seem to like hearing about different things. First the requirements to get the rod is that you need the North West sea chart from the Ocean King temple and have gotten past the fog. Once passt the fog head over to the North East island called Bannan Island which is visible on your map.

Once on the island go into the house on the island and talk to the old wayfarer. Once done exit the house and kill all the enemies. Get your boomerang ready and search the water for a Mermaid, (should have a rubber tube on her). When you see her, don't go too close or she'll go away and hit her with you bommerang. Than talk to her and she'll go away.

Talk to Linebeck and he'll talk about how he saw the mermaid and everything. Than go back into the house and talk to the old wayfarer again to get your Fishing rod. What you have been is the start of the side quest but get the following fish, Loover, Rusty SwordFish and Neptoona to get a heart container. You must give him each one before going onto the next fish and there is also 2 common fish which I forgot their names. To fish just find the fish shadow and select the Fish option under Menu.
