Question for Super Mario 64 DS

After I defeated bowser for the third time the game ends with all the characters together and then credits. I have 92 stars. Why has this happened? The game is meant to finish when you have 150 stars.

You don't need all 150 stars to beat Bowser for the final time.

bleepman answered:

Technically to "beat the game" you need only need 80 stars, and to beat bowser for the 3rd time. to COMPLETE the game you have to get all 150 stars, cus then you can get luigi's last bunny.

Its the same in many games, once you beat the last main event, even if you havent totally finished the smaller thing(like stars for example), the credits go on to commend you.
