I'm trying to befriend a monster but it keeps attacking me! What should I do?

You need the friendship glove to tame a monster. This is how you get one: "When you have defeated your first monster, return to Jasper's Mansion to speak to Tabatha and she will give you a Friendship Glove." Then when you go back to the caves, equip it, and press the "B" button, you will see hearts and eventually you get a popup to name it because you have made friends.
