It is ........."drum roll"..............Lavesta!!!!!!!!!!! Very rare Pokemon it is impossible to find it in the wild it elvoles into a Volcarona.

Larvesta it's fire and bug type and evolves into volcarona. It is the only one in the game you can get but later in the game after the elite 4 you get it's evolution at level 70 in relic castle

if you dot have the patience to evolve the egg yoiu can go to the relic castle after you have beaten the pokemon league once. you will find one of the seven sages at the castle as well as a volcorna. i dont remember what level it is though.. im guessing level 70

If you talk to the Pokemon Ranger in the house on Route 18, you get an egg, as you already know. When the egg hatches, (which is a painfully long time to wait), it becomes Larvesta, a fire-bug type. You won't have much use of him, as he is very weak. But if you are patient enough, you can evolve Larvesta into Volcarona, one of the strongest and most useful Pokemon in the whole game. But that's a long time, considering he hatches at level 1 and doesn't evolve until LEVEL 59!!! When you hatch the Larvesta, a strongly recommend you give it an Exp. Share, if you have gotten that item yet.
FINAL VERDICT: A pain in the abdomen to raise, but a superior Pokemon once evolved. If you have the patience and the time, go ahead and battle away to raise your new baby bug.

The Pokemon inside the eggis larvesta at lv 59 it evolves to volocrana

You can find a Volcarona in a cave. Its already level 70. For all you impatient people out there, thats all the hit I'm giving. GO FIND IT!

Volcarona is at the bottom of relic castle,this is for all who were confused by the person above me. A very long trip. Just avoid running, biking, or walking into the centerof the sand traps and you will be fine.

The Pokemon in the egg on route 18, that the Pokemon ranger gives is a Larvesta egg. It hatches after along time and it evovles at level 59 thats a long wait but it evovles into a powerful Pokemon called Volcarona. But if you don't want to wait for it to evovle you can always go into relic castle and use a dusk ball to catch a level 70 something Volcarona.

I can't find the ranger. She's not in the house as all the forums say. Just the creepy guy in the corner saying he can make something worth my while.
