How can I obtain an Alakazam/Gengar?

How can I obtain an Alakazam/Gengar?

Okay a tech question for the evolution system in Pokemon Platinum:

I.) Alakazam:
Must a Kadabra be traded in order to be eligible for evolution to Alakazam?

II.) Gengar
Must Haunter be traded over in order to be eligible for evolution into Gengar?

If yes: Do these type of Pokemon (for whom need to be traded in order to fully evolve) need to be traded to another DS than back to the original DS? Or will ONE quick trade make the specific Pokemon (IE: Haunter) eligible for evolution apone reaching appropriate level once traded over?

And finally: Can anyone give an ACCURATE complete listing of all the Pokemon (In Platinum) for whom need to be traded over in order to reach final evolution stage?

Question#3:YES

Don't know(how to understand your question)
But if you trade a Hunter, for example, the person who received your "Hunter" will not receive a...err... Hunter. Instead, he/she will receive a Gengar. I suppose that's what your asking, ne?

Last "request": (I'll just list down what I know)

Normal Trade

Kadabra-Alakazam
Machoke-Machamp
Graveler-Golem
Hunter-Gengar

W/ hold items
Poliwhirl-Politoed(King's rock)
Slowpoke-Slowking(King's rock)
Rhydon-Rhyperior(Sorry... I don't know)
Magmar-Magmortar(Magmarizer)
Scyther-Scizor(Metal "something")
Electabuzz-Electivire(Electrizer"?")
Horsea-Kingdra(Dragon Scale)
Onix-Steelix(Dunno...Never tried it...)

Oh yeah... I think you can also evolve Porygon. I just don't know to what Pokemon it will evolve to if you give it a hold item and trade (gosh...I seem so ignorant...).

Sorry I couldn't help much...

You can catch a steelix in iron island
hatershateme answered:

1. Yes. You trade the Pokemon, and once it gets to the others DS. It evolves. Then you trade it, and it stays in the evolved form.

2. Same thing.

You can find Gengar in the old chatoue (Idk how to spell)
pokemonmaster7643 answered:

For and alakazam you have to get a kadabra in a trade for it to evolve. Kadabras can be found in many various routes. For gengar you have yo get a haunter in a trade for it to evolve.

Lu Bu 14 answered:

Okay, Haunter, and Kadabra both evolve to their final forms when they are traded from one DS unit to another. The answer to your second question is that you don't need to return them to the origional DS, but if you want them back in the game they were in then you will want to trade them back. Here are is the complete list of Pokemon and the items that must be held when they are traded:

Kadabra- Alakazam
Machoke- Machamp
Graveller- Golem
Haunter- Gengar
Clamperl + Deepsea Tooth= Huntail
Clamperl + Deepsea Scale= Gorebyss
Seadra + Dragon Scale= Kingdra
Poliwhirl + Kings Rock= Politoed
Slowpoke + Kings Rock= Slowking
Onix + Metal Coat= Steelix
Rhydon + Protector= Rhypieror
Syther + Metal Coat= Scizor
Electabuzz + Electirizer= Electivire
Magmar + Magmarizer= Magmortar
Porygon + Upgrade= Porygon 2
Porygon 2 + Dubious Disc= Porygon-Z
Duskull + Reaper Cloth= Dusknoir

There's Onix, Slowpoke if you want Slowking, Poliwhirl if you want Politoed, and Alakazam.
Guest answered:

What you do is put the Pokemon up for trade for something ridiculous like a Mew lvl 100. Then leave and come back and when you remove the Pokemon it will evolve.

Guest answered:

Okay for Gengar in Pokemon platinum, you can go to old chateau and go into the room with the red eyes. Run around and it's a 4% chance. It takes a while, but no trading!
