Most people look for a nature of Adamant which raises the Pokemon's attack by 10%, but it lowers the special attack by 10%. If you want to increase the speed of your Pokemon by 10%, then the nature should be Timid, Hasty, Jolly or Native. This also decreases a Pokemon's attack, special attack, defense, or special defense, depending on the Pokemon nature your Pokemon has.

If you want to increase your Pokemon's attack by 10%, then the nature should probably be Lonely, Brave, Adamant, or Naughty. This also decrease attack, special attack, defense, or special defense, depending on the Pokemon nature your Pokemon has.

If you want to increase the Pokemon's defense by 10%, then the nature of the Pokemon should be Bold, Relaxed, Impish, or Lax. Once again attack, special attack, defense, or special defense, depending on the Pokemon nature your Pokemon has.

The natures Modest, Mild, Quiet, or Rash increases the Pokemon's Special Attack by 10%, while the natures calm, Gentle, Sassy, and Careful increases the Pokemon's Special Defense by 10%. Also with each nature the attack, special attack, defense, or special defense, of the Pokemon will also decrease by 10%.

I would suggest for the starter Pokemon the Natures Adamant, Relaxed, and/or Jolly.

Note* The Natures Docile, Serious, Bashful, and Quirky change nothing in the Pokemon stats. Nothing increases and nothing decreases. Some people suggest to stay away from these natures, but it is really up to you.

Hope this helps.
