Evolve onix by trading it whilst holding the metal coat.
Or catch a steelix in the last cave where you battle Red. Silver Cave or something, with the level 50 Pokemon.

Trade an onix w/ iron coat I realllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllly hopes this helps

Trade your Onix holding a Metal Coat and it will evolve into Steelix. You could trade with a friend or someone on these forums.
