Question for Pokemon Heart Gold
Is it possible to save a game without deleting the previously saved game and starting all over? I bought a memory card hoping it would solve the problem but it proved not to be useful.

No, it is not possible. You must delete the Existing Game File in order to save a New Game File.

Someone ripped you off by selling you a memory card. Nintendo DS games save to themselves, there is no external memory. You can only save one file to the game card.
