You have to go to the name rater and ask him to rate your name.you say yes and then he says
Ex:- your pokemons name is rex.
"Hmmm,rex is a nice name but how about something different."Then he asks you whether you want to change it's name then you say yes and you can change it.
The name rater is located in:-Castelia City in Unova. The Name Rater lives in a building on the left side of the city's north road.

Usaly you have to find a name rater (in big cities)I don't know exactly where haven't got far just started

You can't change the nicknames of traded Pokemon though. He would just say 'Hmmm. ____! That is a truly impeccable nickname! Take good care of ____!'
