Ok, I'll answer your question, also with the response to my question you gave. The reason why you can't save is because they want to make it a tougher game for you. They want you to think it's a real challenge. Also, before facing even the first one, you'll need a good enough level to beat them in better time, and survive. 2 things I suggest: One is that keep fighting enemies to level up and get high levels. Soon, or now, you should be able to level up your HP by 6 or 5. That will be a lot of help. Also, stock up on at least 30 1-up Mushrooms, or a bit less. I ended up with about 5-10 left. A reccommended level you should be at is maybe 35. You need to be good with Bros. Items, and also get the Ulti-Free Badge, which lets you use as much attack items as you'd like for one person. Use Copy Flowers when the younger Princess Shroob uses their forcefield. Use Mix Flowers when she is off the chair, and do really good, and you should be able to do maybe 250-400 HP worth of damage. Then, when she's beaten, get ready for the Cobalt Star A.K.A. the Elder Princess Shroob. When the going gets tough, use Mix Flowers and defensive maneuvers! Aim carefully when Princess Peach gives you a star to hit the UFOs, and she may give a mushroom. Beat her first form which involves shooting beams, Shroobish Chain Chomps, and other attacks. Keep dodging and striking, and eventually, a purple gas will cover the screen, turning her into her second, most evil, scary, powerful second form, and causing Princess Peach to faint. So, many attacks like gigantic, blue shooting beams, tentacle strikes, purple gas clouds, sharp tentacles, grasping tentacles, and burning and zapped UFOs, plus much more. You must destroy the feet tentacles first so you can reach her crown, and attack it. Finish the crown off, and it'll stop shining. Attack with heavy artillery and keep scratching away at the fearless body. Also, make sure you're a good dodger, because some attacks will take expert dodging. Keep striking with Mix Flowers to reduce her choices of attacks, and defeat her. After, feel proud! I think looking at the walkthroughs would be better though. I didn't explain every exact detail.

I think you explained enough. Another good item to use on the younger prin. would be the trampoline on her shield. and instead of trying to preserve items on the first princess, because you know the older, more powerfull one is right after, get 2 ultra free badges and you'll have unlimited attack items for both adults. the only thing to worry about is keeping damage and item usage to a minimum with the first princess, because you'll need all the help you can get for the older one.
