Question for Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time

I've gone upstairs in pincess peach's castle (present) and I've found a place where there's lots and lots of stairs. When I get to the top there are some gates. How do I open these gates at the top of princess peach's castle?

It's simple. If you have the rolling move Mr. And Sr. Toadstool teach the adults, then here's what you do:

Press X or Y in the room in the stairs NOT UNDER THE PURPLE "!" BUTTON! Then press R and align Mario under the purple "!" button and press B. Luigi should try to spin jump, but hits the block and starts. IMMEDIATELY press A and run up the stairs as fast as you can. Press the other purple "!" button and the gate is lifted. No need to bring the babies up, as there is a warp pipe in the room. I hope I helped.
