That's a good question!
I have never had a basement sun dissapear. I'm pretty sure that once you place it, it will stay there (unless your basement caves in).

It will last forever until you Demolish the Basement or if you Remove the sun. Be cautious though, because if you're growing plants while a sun is there, if you remove the sun, the plants will disappear. So try not to push A right in front of the sun.

The suns last forever. The only exception to this fact is that if your basement is destroyed or demolished, then the sun will be destroyed as well.
