Were do i dig to find fossils?

Where can I find fossils? I dig everywhere but I don't get one (I have only found one!) I found it under a star fish but I can't find anymore. Can some one give me a list of were I can find fossils? Thank you.

List:

1. "under a star fish"

Anywhere you see one, there will either be a fossil, a Gyroid, a Pitfall Seed, or something you buried previously.

Digging randomly won't get you anything, unless you have a Golden Shovel, and then you'll get only money.

The "star fish" are around your town. There are a certain amount each day. That's the only place you can find them. Make sure to identify them before you sell them, unless you donate them to The Museum, then of course you would identify them. Hope this helps.

These starfish? They're cracks in the ground if you actually look at them. If you dig them all up, three will appear the next day. There is a limit on how many can be in your town at a time, though (I don't know the limit).

I'm having problems.I have allready done the game on gamecube and on dsi i can't see any star fish but i'm thinking is it normal because i have only been playing a week. And I can't find any starfish for digging fossiles I find this dissapointing.

Guest answered:

It's not a starfish, its a crack in the ground. If they don't appear one day, you just have to be patient, and look carefully the next day. Sometimes they just don't appear, especially if you didn't find any the day before, or have quit the game for a period of time.

I've been playing for awhile and it's been becoming harder to find Fossils. I've been planting allot of trees and I'm worried that they are behind the tree so I can't see them.

1)can they spawn behind trees, out of view?

2)if they do will they ever move some where else or will they stay there until dug up.

I would like to know before I start chopping down trees.

Guest answered:

Well , I found one near my house , another near The Museum . And here's my advice ,just take a walk and if you spot a crack ( star in the ground )just dig and u will get a Fossils . Tip ; u can dig fossils in the snow too ( winter )
