Before you start doing outlaw missions, make sure you're at a proper level. Outlaws stand above the rest of the crowd as far as ability and fighting power goes. They are essentially a boss in the dungeon, so they can deal a good amount of damage to unprepared teams.

Best thing to do is only challenge a boss in the dungeon if you can beat all other wild Pokemon on regular attack alone. Sure fire way of telling if you're ready or not.
