By Lava level, I assume you are talking about The Caveman Hoverboard Race.
All you have to do is chase the Cavemen and once you have caught up, whack them with your Frypan.
Once all three are dead, you will have to jump off a ramp into an alcove with a bundle of cash in it.
That is how you get passed that level.

That other answer was unduly rude.
However, we were having an extremely difficult time with this level with what we started referring to as wall vacuum effects (without inputs on the controls Conker would randomly swerve into walls) and by the time we'd gotten to the third racer the controls were simply not responding fast enough to avoid obstacles.
We eventually determined that the nintendo was lagging which was causing the undue level of difficulty in the game. We swapped to a different nintendo and it was fixed. There's still the difficulty of the unavoidable dinosaurs and such, but it was noticeably better.
Hope this helps anyone else with this issue!
