The Gem of the Living can be found in the area with the statues. When you arrive a huge rock will fall from the sky, destroying the top half of one of the statues. When the rock has fallen, walk up to it and swing your hammer to destroy the rock. Once the rock has been destroyed you will obtain the Gem of the Living.
