EA Games has put out what appears to be another high action-packed game filled with suspense and authentic World War 2 gameplay. The result? Medal of Honor Vanguard , another great filler to the Medal of Honor series. The game puts you in the shoes of Seargent Keegan, a member of the 82nd Airborne division. The game features parachute drops all over the world from the scorching heat of Sicily to the dark drop into Normandy. With all new multiplayer levels, it will also help for four or mopre people who want to try their hand at the classic fighting. With stunning gameplay and real World War 2 weapons, this game is sure to attract all Medal of Honor lovers.
The graphics of this game are fairly good compared to it's predecessors Medal of Honor Rising Sun and Medal of Honor European Assualt. The makers still have to deal with the issue of the grass look. The thick foliage that looks like carboard which blocks you from leaving your mission area really is getting old.
I must give credit to this game for it's sound. The music is stunning through the entire game. Sound effects make it seem as if you're really the one fighting. The damage metre is another really interesting aspect of the sound. When your character takes damage he begins to breathe harder. Same with the sprinting, when you use all of your sprint metre, he becomes exhausted and you can hear his voice gasping for air. All in all I must give the makers a nine out of ten for their stunning work on sound.
The gameplay is the true meat of the game. With authentic jumps into enemy territory, it seems as if you are the one who is truly jumping out of the plane. I was stunned at how lifelike they make the drops feel. They have you do the exact procedures that they did in World War 2. With multiplayer mode it does do a good job for a while, but with very few level selections and no online, the fun doesn't last. The weapons are a brilliant aspect on the other hand. Just like European Assault, they use the real ironsights to make it feel like a true war experience. The only thing I was disappointed about was there was no way to use sniper rifles.
Although the sound and gameplay are very incredible, the game doesn't give much to those who play by themselves. With no online or bots to face for multiplayer plus very few selections for levels, the multiplayer mode will not keep entertaining for long. With only three difficulty levels and having to go through the same missions, the story mode will not bring entertainment for weeks.
Overall I give this game an eight out of ten for it's standard quality. For gamers who have brothers or friends who come to play with, I would recommend this game for them. For the lone gamer who has time to play by himself, I would steer clear of this game as you won't find it entertaining after you've beaten it.
