Putting is Crucial
It's great being able to hit the golf ball the length of the fairway, but the key to getting under par usually depends on your ability to sink the ball into the hole. This means you need to be proficient at putting. You have options for a short, medium, or long putt, and it's important that you use the correct putt for the situation at hand. Not only do you have to select the correct type of putt, you also need to take into consideration the weather when lining up your putt. If it is raining you need to compensate for the rain slowing your ball down or if it is windy the wind blowing your ball off course. The elevation of the shot must also be considered, the general rule being more power required for uphill puts and less for downhill ones.
