The year is 2025. The world is in shambles. A third World War has wreaked havoc on the face of the world, politics are irrelevant, economics are failing, and the Fossil Fuel supply is running out. From the ashes of the former world has come the rise of Private Military Corporations (PMCs):
S.V.E.R: (pronounced "sever"), an almost Terrorist-like group, made up of former soldiers and private citizens, they're weapons are old, but believe in honour, respect, and fear (These guys are my personal favourites)
Raven: An almost futuristic like group based in Europe, who's many recruits are trained in Simulations, giving them a feel for what to do in almost any combat situation. Although lacking in real life experience, they excel when it comes to technological warfare.
Valor: An American PMC made up of veterans, with a wide knowledge of battlefield tactics and more experience than any other of the PMCs, their ability to out manouver their enemies gives them a massive edge over their enemies
Personally, I'm fairly sure this background was stolen from Metal Gear Solid, as there are a lot of similarities
The graphics are nothing spectacular in comparison to other games out at the moment. Really, it's about as good as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. The landscape however, is better than most games though in my opinion, featuring things like muddy water, chipped and cracked roads with faded paint roadside barriers, and generally less demanding to the eye than other games, and gives the game a nice little subtlety.
The sounds in this are pretty good as well, the explosives drowning out all other noises, talking can be hard to hear when surrounded by gunfire, an overall very realistic sound system. One of my favourite things about the sound is that when you're sniping, all sounds are drowned out, allowing you to give your full concentration to your aiming.
This is where the game really excels. Highly customisable classes, a large array of weapons and skills, (including healing, gas grenades, lock-on RPGs, and acoustic locators), and up to a 256 player all-out brawl, combine to make a massive success. New squad(up to 8 players),platoon(up to 32), and company(up to 128 players) leader systems revolutionise gaming, and can mean that a well experienced veteran can let the rest of his Squad know exactly where to go and what to do.
A thoroughly excellent and well organized game
This game can last ages. Personally I have been playing for 3 days, and I'm only on level 17. With a maximum level of 60, there's loads of time to get to the top.
Then, when you're done, you can start again, either with the same PMC or another one.
Basically like the "prestige" mode in the call of duty series.
Overall, this is an excellent game. I personally love this game, and will be playing it for a long time to come.
Players who have a terrible internet connection need not worry either.
This is the first game where sony themselves are providing the servers. I myself have a very slow connection, and I have yet to encounter a problem with my internet on this.
If you decide to not get this game, you are making a huge mistake, and should really reconsider your decision
