By winning games in Battle Mode. No matter what strength characters you are you should play the strongest characters you can beat. When you save up the gold "KOINS" you get you can use those to buy player cards in STORE < CHARACTERS that combine to make them stronger. You can also buy upgrades. When you go into the Battle Select you see all your 3 teams of 3 characters. If you tap on a character there it will show you all the stats and stuff you can buy to upgrade.
