Question for Minecraft: Pocket Edition

How do you pick up iron ore in minecraft PE? When ever I find some I try to pick it up with a stone pick axe and it just disappears. What am I doing wrong???

That answer is easy. You just have to cook the piece you get in a furnace and you will have iron ore.
each block gets one ore.
