How do I get back gems that were used for 24 hour deal of sending out a fleet of ships. Cost me

Used gems to purchase 24 hour deal to send out ships. Never even got an hour. That cost me 150 gems. This is the second time it has happened.
Also having trouble with the game completely shutting down, through different times of trying to take coin from houses, manors etc.,even trying to chop down trees. In some instances, the game will highlight the tree to be cut, and keeps it highlighted, but will not send a worker to cut it. It will work if I close out of the game completely, sign back in, the tree is gone.

This game is getting very frustrating. Tired of having to work so hard to get gems, then have them stolen by a faulty game!

Thanks for trying to help. Anyway to get my 300 gems back?
