Before tackling a steep hill it is important that you maintain forward momentum ahead of such climbs otherwise you will find your car wheel-spinning and sliding backwards, or gaining some traction before flipping backwards. You will also find yourself having to correct your trajectory mid-flight when you jump off hills which is achieved by balancing the accelerator and brakes, accelerating will make you lean back and braking will push you forward.
