Game Board Layout
Reviewing the game board layout before you begin is very important as there are certain factors you need to take into account, these include the number and placement of crystals, destructible terrain, impassable terrain, and buffs. Knowing the layout beforehand will give you an advantage as it will determine where you place your units.
Hero Attacks
In order for a ranged hero to attack they must either be at least one tile away from their target or share the corner of their tile with their target. Keep some distance between enemy units and your ranged units otherwise they will be unable to attack.Melee heroes can only attack when they are either next to their target, or share a full tile side with their target. When a melee and ranged hero engage in an attack there is no revenging.
Diagonals
Diagonals count as two squares, one in each direction, this means melee units can’t attack on diagonals, but ranged units can. Take advantage of this by placing obstacles with the right spells above, below and on both sides of a crystal.
Check Powers
Before you begin a match take a minute to scope what powers are in use by your opponent so you can take advantage of that knowledge by devising a strategy that can counter them and wreck havoc on an uprepared opponent.
Fanfare and Eulogy Effects
There are some heroes that have special abilities called Fanfare and Eulogy effects. Fanfare effects trigger when a card first enters the board, and Eulogy effects trigger when a hero is defeated.
Combination Attacks
Consider doing the Challenges as they enable you try out new cards and learn powerful combination attacks. Challenges are tasks you have to complete using specific cards.
Revive Heroes
Heroes are defeated when their health is reduced to zero. The body of the hero will remain in the square which they fell on and until the end of your turn you have time to revive them with certain spells or abilities.
