Introduction

Gears of War is an awesome game. It has all the things that a legendary game needs: Great graphics, sound, it doesn't get boring, and most importantly it is always a challenge. I firmly belive that Gears is the next Halo and that the game will continue to grow and will only get better with the release of Gears of War 2 in 2008.

Graphics

I gave the graphics of Gears of War a 9/10. The reason I gave it this score is because when you play Gears you feel like you are actually there and you really get into the game. When you play you can see the fluid movements of yourself and other characters, you can see the sweat, blood, dirt and gore in the game. And it is probally the most realistic looking game I have ever seen. On a HDTV the graphics are even more tunning and will keep you amazed with the details.

Sound

I gave the sound of Gears of War a 8/10. I gave it this because you can hear birds and the breeze in the background, you can hear the grunts and commands of your enemies and allies. You can hear the clinking of grenades and bullets flying around you. The music in the game is good, but not great. Sometimes it just doesn't really flow with what's going on in the game.

Gameplay

The gameplay gets a perfect score of 10/10. I gave it this because you just get excited to be playing the game because of how fun and cool the game is. You can take cover behind things, you can blow apart couches and dressers, you can slap a grenade onto an enemiy back, you can chainsaw things apart! All-in-all this is a great game that will become a classic and will be around for a long time to come.

Lastability

Gears of War gets a 7/10 for this category. I hardly ever get tired of playing the game, and I am almost never bored. But after playing the game for awhile it starts to get predictable and when a game is predictable it isn't a challenge, and when a game isn't a challenge it isn't fun. You just aren't always on the edge of your seat and about to wet yourself when playing the game.

Overall

Overall Gears of War gets a 8.5/10 which I will round up to a 9/10. That's a 90%. So Gears is a great game but it lacks some qualities that will make it legendary. However there is plenty of time to make tweaks and adjustments before the second game. So if you don't have Gears of War get it and if you do have it keep playing!
