W/ yoshi, jump up and press A and down, he does his little feet thing that can do 25% every time, you can do this at least 4 times, and then home run it, you can also do ganondorf a up attack, do it, then when it's coming down charge up then do it when he releases it, then when it's coming down home run it, should get somewhere in the 1,000 range, also roy just do A up, charge it all the way, do this 3 times, when it's coming down the third time press and hold B, and try to get it off at full power, you should be able to if you can do it quick, and that should get you reallll far
Jump a little over the Sandbag and use Yoshi's flutter kick (Down + A) until Sandbag gets to 100% or so then smash attack it with the bat. P.S. You don't have to use yoshi I used gannondorf and got the N64 vesion of Yoshi's Island.
It doesn't matter which Character you use, just get the Sandbag's percentage up high before you hit it with the Home Run Bat...
For a start, use Fox, just keep pushing the B-Button to fire his gun at the Sandbag and when there's a couple seconds left, grab the Bat and send him packing!!!
When you're really good, use Yoshi, keep doing his flutter attack (jump, then push down+A), I hit him 1705.4 feet!!!
This'll get you the Arena: Yoshis Island...
If your trying to unlock Past Stages: Yoshi's Island N64, it doesn't matter which character you use.
I got it with Roy. Start off by doing his down + A smash (only slightly charged) as this'll knock it close to the edge. Run up to it and follow up with three up + A smashes, only slightly charging the first one then releasing the other two when it comes in to reach. After the third, start to charge up Roy's B attack. If done properly done, you'll have enough time to get it fully charged and you should get him over 480 metres. Don't get it charged and it'll do 14% less damage and be 50m+ shorter.
But if you really do want to do it with Yoshi, grab the bat and do his aerial down + A till you're almost out of time then smash him with the bat.
