You can't play as him but if you mean the trophy you have to hit the Sandbag over 450 metres in the home-run contest.

I think you have to hit the Sand Bag in the Home Run Contest at least 1200 feet.
Or, was it 1500 feet?
Try both and see which works.

You can't unlock paper mario. You can get his trophy.
You have to Hit Sandbag 1,485 feet or more in the Home Run Contest to get the papermario trophy.

You might be able to get him when you cheat or glitch your game. I don't know; I play a normal game.
You can also get the Trophy somehow, like 1500 ft. in the Home-Run Contest or something. I don't know; I haven't hit over 1050 ft.
