To catch a pokemon you must be at the point that you have pokeballs that are optained in the first land of the game.

Then when battling other opponets when they are shadow pokemon go to items and then select a pokeball to capture it.

To catch pokemon you need to go to the outskirt stand and recieve the pokeballs the guy gives you.

After you get 4 levels completed, go back to the first level and go to the bar with a big guy.
